If you read maze runner guide books or the maze runner materials they explained that the founders of wicked and scientists felt bad for Chuck. They felt that he wasn’t able to survive the real world conditions outside since he’s is a younger child so they controlled Gabby to kill chuck. Since they thought that was the right thing to do. So basically they felt very guilty as they recognize that the last person they sent into the maze before Thomas was Chuck. Also, Ava Paige said she controlled Gally to kill Chuck to spare him from an even worse death, showing that she didn't want to have to force him to go through the harder Trials.
In The Death Cure it is confirmed that WICKED was not only controlling Gally when he threw the knife, but was also controlling Chuck to make him jump in the way of the knife. It turned out that it was all just one of the Variables designed to be an interaction for not only Thomas and the other Gladers who witnessed it, but also for Chuck during his last few moments. Since in the books wicked implanted chips into the maze runner teens to control them.
Also, in the Maze Runner Files. In one of the messages from Ava Paige to "My Associates", she says, "...remember that Chuck was not a potential Candidate and most certainly would have met an even worse death evetually."
It's amazing how they were able to map it perfectly after 3 years of memorizing every inch of it. To those who never even saw the map were looking out the helicopter thinking how that's what they were trapped in all this time.

This just leaves a a couple of questions... 1. Are they gonna use CGI to make the actors look younger or will they get a younger cast? 2. Will they use the characters' real names like Thomas being Stephen and Teresa being Deedee? 'Cause when Thomas was telling the Gladers that he remembers he and Teresa working for WCKD, he didn't mention how they were given false names to remember like that scene in the book and that they were renamed after famous people like Thomas Edison and Mother Teresa. It's possible they might not do it because in the beginning of The Scorch Trials he was called "Thomas" by his mother. So it's possible they're just going to stick with the fake names from now on.
I felt very sad and touched and angry, when they were in the helicopter and saw how the maze was formed, I imagined the trauma and feelings they had been there for 3 years and were only able to escape now 😢

He was still grieving of chuck's death and refused to leave him until the guards pulled him back. Probs they deleted that clip from the version of the movie you watched.
Dang it I wanted another movie Imagine if they make another one where Thomas (Dylan O'brien) was working with them and how he cooperated and put people in the maze and what he did to them. The second one i believe is jack, he dies in the second movie but his death is a deleted scene. The first one is probably winston but i cant see really well.
Jack and Tim did appear in the second movie, Tim was called for testing in the background, he was the one behind Minho, jack was with the group until the mall crank chase scene, where he was killed in a deleted scene. Billy’s actor, Landon Hazel, couldn’t make it for production so he didn’t appear.
But really, what was the point of sending the kids into the maze, surrounded by giant cyborg spiders? So that they could observe what made them different and immune to the virus? Blood tests and the likes are not better markers?
I assume they wanted the kids to think the people who put them in the maze had been killed so when they brought them to the wckd compound with all the other kids from the maze their guards would be down and not figure out they’re still being held captive by wckd’s people
They built the most advanced maze with robotic creatures that have Ai, but were rescued by an ordinary helicopter
