Absolutely great video! 👍 Thanks a lot ::: this is so much better than a detailer-man who talked for half an hour about ONR and didn't say even half of what I heard from You. I am now a fan of this channel 🙂
Thankyou for this. I'd heard of some of ONR's uses and was particularly interested in the pre-rinse use. You're the first who I've seen mention all the mix ratios. I'll be watching more of your videos and have subscribed. Cheers.
Great video Heather and so glad you’ve discovered the use for glass and interiors. I’ve been doing this for years and it works so well and is quick using the same product for everything. My cars like yours are regularly cleaned so the interiors never need more than a quick wipe down and ONR is perfect for that. More of an interior detailer than a interior cleaner though it does clean pretty well too. My wife has a litre bottle at 1:256 that she uses around the house. She swears by it!
Thanks very much! That's so true, it really does make everything a lot quicker when you don't have loads of different products and can just use one chemical! Hahaha that's brilliant, I never think to use detailing products in the house but it's a great idea!
ONR is my main rinseless washing method as I don’t have regular access to a pressure washer. But aside from this use, I also use it as a light interior cleaner so I’m glad you shared that tip. As others have mentioned, using it before the initial wash DOES help prevent micro scratches because the product literally encapsulates the dirt so it slides right off when using the pressure washer.
As a girl myself, it's nice to see car videos like this from girls! So thanks for being you and showing girls that it's not only guys that can be into cars
I'm confused. You say can be used as a QD @ 1:16 and a drying aid @ 1:16 which makes sense as most, (if not all), QD's are drying aids. My confusion arises around the question of why you chose to document them as two different uses, rather than one, when they're essentially the same; as most, (if not all), QD's can be used on either wet or dry paint. I'm not trying to appear pedantic, but I believe this could confuse people that are new to detailing.
An other great and very informative video Heather! I like ONR because its versatility which you just have described throughout the video, and definitely one of those "must have" products in anyone's arsenal. I was about to do a quick rinse less wash yesterday, because the weather was being sucks since a while, but luckily it turned in to the other way.
Thanks so much! It's such a useful one to have on the shelf, I always keep a few bottles mixed up at the different concentrations there are loads of situations where it comes in handy!
You will not regret it mate. Its like 7 products in one. One 946 ml bottle should last you about a year. Type into Google Optimum no rinse dilution chart or ratios and you can't go wrong. Brilliant for glass and interior plastics
Great video. I can testify that it is great for cleaning house windows and frames here in Australia. Modern houses here have lots of glass with my 4 bedroom have 24 panes. It gives a sheen to the glass and frames as is far quicker that traditional ways of cleaning.
I started using this about a month ago - really enjoyed the video . I use the stuff so much now. I keep some at 1:256 in an IK Sprayer and use it for Bird Poop (followed up by some FSE). Also as a pre wash when the pollen/sand has coated the car, a little in the rinse bucket ... it encapsulates the dirt and draws it to the bottom under the grit guard helping to keep the mitt clear. Well, that's what it seemed like.
Thanks for watching! That’s a really good idea, makes a lot of sense to use it in the rinse bucket as well. I really need to get an IK sprayer, I’ve got a foamer at the moment but it’d be so much easier to use a pump sprayer instead of a trigger to apply prewash etc
@@AutoCareHQ Oh the other place I used it was engine bay - surfex to de-grease and the ONR to do a wipe down/clean up as I don't really like using too much water around there ... and then Koch Chemie Motorplast as the final step to clean and protect.
I honestly dont think grit guards work. For the dirt to go beneath the guard, you have to let the water settle undisturbed. How is that possible if you constantly redunk the sponge every 10 seconds?
I used it as no.4 "before rinsing" and it works. I wonder if we use it with apc mixed together and pre-wash or pre-soak will it work together or it will fight apc, like the shampoo in the backet? And moreover, if we use it as interior cleaner the same way with some apc or IPA..
It does offer protection, pour water over the surface after you dry and there's more slip angle offered. Mckee's 37 however is great for leaving a blank slate after you dry.
Thanks Heather for the conversion from OZ to Mill's looks like i have been using to much product When mixing for glass cleaner use. I was using 12ml to 750ml of distilled water.
I've been using it pre-rinse for a while, applying with a pump sprayer to save time. I've noticed the rinse takes more of the dirt off of the car if I give a quick spray of the ONR first. Great video!
@@skrtskrt3429 For the pre rinse in the pump sprayer I go with the standard 256:1. But keep in mind I wash my cars weekly and don't have a daily commute so the are rarely very dirty. I have another bottle that's closer to ~125:1 that I use as a quick detailer or if the car is very dirty I'll use it as the pre-rinse. I don't know if it's very scientific, just what I've found to work for me via trial and error.
I have been thinking of purchasing this product for a while and you just convinced me because my clay lube was finished the last time I used it. I think the pre rinse use is a good idea also. I have been using Auto Finesse TFR first before Angelwax Cleanliness on top as my pre snow foam and have been impressed. The bottle in the car for bird droppings is genius. Looking forward to the next video.
Thanks very much John! I really need to get some more Auto Finese and Angelwax products, I’ve only ever tried one product from each brand, I feel like I’m missing out haha!
Great video Heather. Some interesting uses there. Will be adding it to my next order me thinks 🤔 The clay lube option seems well worth a go ! Many thanks for the Sunday dose of Auto Care HQ 👍👍
I love ONR and i use it on most of the car. Even on the battered interiors if you use ONR on the surface and brush on your heavier cleaner you will use less of the likely more expensive cleaner and it will wipe off easier. If your looking for a drying aid that adds protection i use 1 part Carpro reload, 1 part Carpro Ech2o, and 10 parts water. It can also be used as an instant detailer but it could be expensive at first but it goes a long way as you dont use much. Its like Carpro Elixr
Good detailed rundown 👍🏼 Another very versatile product for those minimalists, very keen to try it but already have countless products for all these purposes 😅... maybe I could justify buying it as a water softener 🤔
Good video but as of yet i have never tried it, but seen loads of reviews and videos on this product and it looks god so i guess i will need to give it a go and find out for myself, brilliant job Heather.
Great video Heather. I love these products that are very dilutable and great value for money. I recommend u try Bilt Hamber Quick Detailer also...can be used at 1:10 and is great value for money also over consumer store bought bottles.
Thank you! That sounds brill, BH products are such good value for money. I’ve only ever used their cleaning and decon products a try before so it’d be good to get some different ones too!
@@AutoCareHQ I do keep a few detailers hanging around but their expensive for the average 500ml bottle...Bilt Hamber Quick Detailer is great value but also AutoGlym Rapid Aqua Wax is exceptional for gloss and Turtle Wax Dry and Shine is also excellent for Hydrophobicity.
regardless of the dilution ratio, use DISTILLED water for dilution. Using ordinary tap water adds tiny particulates which you don't want in a detailer,or glass cleaner.
Cracking video and really useful. Just a left field query, if you used ONR Wash and Wax as a Quick Detailer would this get round the lack of protection involved with the blue stuff?
I doubt it will leave much protection behind. Give your car a coat of Turtle Wax Hybrid Sealant and you will not regret it. Longevity is 6 months with one coat!

The last part about hard water. I'm using a bucket, a sponge, and some ONR. It's recommended that I use distilled water in the bucket instead of tap water. What difference does it make - if I were to use a pressure washer to clean my car, I'd have no other choice but to use hard water.
Great explanation. I just used 1:50 dilution, before watching this video, the car was very dirty and I used 4 clothes but the result wasn't so so shiny, I mean very good but I'd like to have a shiny result. How can I get it?
Hi Heather, any thoughts on the following - plus if this is a bad occasional idea please say so. Sometimes I just need to clean a car quickly - weather changes etc. I usually APC + Snow foam first, at this point the car looks great as its wet but light road film is still present that would be obvious if the car drys. So now i decide to finish without a contact wash by towel drying to save the inevitable poor results of letting the car dry naturally (even though this would be safer). If i use ONR as a drying aid (say 16:1) at this point do you think this would be significantly safer. Any thoughts would be appreciated, best wishes.
I think using ONR after the contactless wash would be much safer. I think using a drying towel on a car that’s not completely clean without any lubrication is likely to cause some damage. You could always just use the standard waterless wash method with ONR after your prewash, it probably wouldn’t take much longer and would use less ONR 😊
Great video, If I mix onr with car shampoo, does it increase the cleaning power? (Besides the suds reduction effect) Or it just increase the slickness with the same cleaning power?
Thanks! I don’t reckon you’d get much extra cleaning out of it to be honest. I’ve never been able to tell properly though because the shampoo always tends to be enough on its own cleaning-wise for me 😊
what to do if I want to make sure my coating last as much as possible (thinking of getting carpro UK 3.0 50ml so I would do a 2step polishing and 2 coats of the coating) maybe you could recommend if there is a better one?
2 coats of CQUK 3.0 and a topper of CARPRO Gliss. Carpro Reload after Gliss has flashed and buffed. The Reload let’s the ceramic coating properly cure for a week. Use Reload periodically to keep your ceramic coating in tip top condition.
