War Journal of Force Commander Aramus, Blood Ravens 4th Company:
We have been fighting on Calderis, our prime recruiting world, for Six days now & despite our recent victories, the situation on the planet surface is still very grim.
I was originally sent here to assist Captain Davian Thule of The 4th Company with the recruitment efforts on Calderis & Typhon Primaris, which have been given the highest priority by Chapter Master Kyras after the Chapter suffered terrible losses during the campaign in the Kaurava System & if our Chapter is to survive, we would need every neophyte we can find.
But even before Sergeant Tarkus & I arrived on world, the situation was less than ideal. The Ork attacks had been a constant hinderance on our recruitment efforts & Captain Thule & his neophytes were just barely holding out before we could deep strike to the planet surface & even though we collapsed the mine through which the Orks had been assaulting the settlements on Calderis, the leader of these foul xenos, an Ork Mekboy named Badzappa, escaped before we could eliminate him.
The following day, Tarkus & I led another deep strike into a hamlet on Calderis where Scout Sergeant Cyrus was already waiting for us to help defend against another Ork assault. We managed to fight our way to Sergeant Avitus & rescued him before saving the hamlet from yet another Ork wave.
After our defense of the hamlet, we received word that the Orks had attacked two more key locations on Calderis and it was at that point when we realized that someone with more tactical skill than a normal Greenskin was leading the Orks. The first attack was led by a Stormboy Nob named Skykilla and the second by the Ork chieftan called Gutrencha.
Both of whom were killed by my hand in single combat.
After our victories, we extracted what information we could from Skykilla and Gutrencha and discovered that both had visited the Felhammer Mine recently. We also learned that Mek Badzappa was there as well.
So we delpoyed immediately to Felhammer Mine while Sergeant Cyrus remained onboard the Armageddon to provide technical support. But as the my strike force moved to drive the remaining Orks from Calderis, we noticed that something was not right & there was something watching us from afar, But we were ambushed by more Orks before we could investigate further.
Thankfully, we ourselves were rescued from the Ork gunners by Sergeant Thaddeus & his Assault Marines.
We also found Mek Badzappa, But when we move in to engage him and his mob, we discovered that they were already under attack by an Aeldari Warlock and a company of Guardians & although my brothers & I slew the Warlock & killed every last xenos at Felhammer Mine, Badzappa escaped once again.
But that is not what is concerning me right now, Because as the Warlock died, he spoke of the existence of a greater foe that threatened all of the sub-sector & while my battle-brothers remain unconcerned by the random babbling of the member of a xenos race known for their duplicity.
I can't help but wonder, What if he's telling the truth?
