Don’t be envious of audiophiles. It must be hard to enjoy sound if you can’t stand anything except very high quality speakers and headphones.
By far the best headphones I've ever owned. Sound quality is great and the noise canceling is second to none. Worth the money

My best mate is a sound engineer. He is the one who turned me on to the Sony XM4. I am in total agreement with you on all of the above. These are without a doubt the best phones I've ever owned. I had a 5 year old pair of Sonys that broke when the support for the earcup literally just broke, making it impossible to make the phones sit flush with my ears. These are far superior in construction and durability in my opinion. Bottom line I thank my mate all the time for telling me how great these are. Great review

The most important difference between the XM3 and the XM4 for me was that the XM4 has bigger ear cups, which made all the difference for me in not buying the XM3 when those were out. Comfort is way better on the XM4 now.
This is excellent to hear thank you. I sent my XM3's back due to the ear cups being a tad too small and would love to have them a bit bigger. I'm going to purchase these now knowing that the ear cups are a bit bigger....THANK YOU!
@NMB No issues so far. As long as you wipe it down after long use and store it properly. I wouldn't leave it hanging from a rod or similar type of headphone hanger for too long though, as it does deform the material at the pressure point slightly over time.
I love my XM3s. I tried the XM4 but I found them a bit heavier to wear for long periods. The XM3 can be comfortably worn by me for ages, but maybe I have small ears

My xm3's struggled with deep base. I took them back and got a replacement with another new pair of xm3's. I got the same problem, a thump instead of deep base. I put it down to the size of the earcups

I remember not getting the XM3’s because they felt too tight and weren’t as comfortable as my QCII’s. I got the XM4’s and they feel much lighter (I think it’s the bigger ear ups) and I love them.
Others have mentioned your voice being pleasant. I would also add, your accent is very soothing

Upgraded from my XM2 to the XM4 and having the ability to pair to multiple devices are a game changer. Pound for pound the best headphones I own! If XM4 are too pricy, XM2 or even XM3’s are still flagship headphones
I am on the same boat, should i do it? I tried in store, and sound quality was amazing on xm4, and anc seems better.
@@rizakayan Worth the upgrade. Yes it’s expensive, but after you’ve got them, you won’t look back. If you’re a frequent flyer or commute to work etc. no brainier

I’ve had them for two months and only got a “low battery” notification once lol. I love these headphones. I wasn’t impressed with sound initially but once I got my settings...amazing
The battery is insane, right? Most impressive I've experienced.

@@syafiqm3086 Out of the box, stock, not touched at all.
Download Wavelet if you're on android and use the AutoEQ to map the EQ to the harman curve. Then try the bass tuner at around 3 dB from about 75hz. This kills the boomy lower mids that make the default sound a bit muddy, and cleans up the highs to make them crystal clear without being sibilant. The bass tuner (this will cost a little for access) really brings up the fun part of the bass (or technically recovers it as the AutoEQ squashes it).
You end up with a ridiculously crisp sound signature. Natural, smooth, but not too hot any more. Bass tuner keeps them fun, and actually improves the bass (as by default, there is too much bass in the 100-300hz range. Killing that a bit really sharpens up the 30-100 range when you recover it with the bass tuner)
I wasn't thrilled with their sound quality before, as i found it a bit muffled and hot (although everything else rocks). After doing this, they are simply breathtaking. They have great resolution and really just needed that EQ.

ive been after the xm3 since it launched basically, started working this year and saved up for the xm4 :D im in love with these headphones
The XM4 are right now (black friday) for $278 and the XM3 are $240, I think for $38 extra, the XM4 definitely worth the upgrade

In the Sony app you can change settings so your own voice comes through while making a phone call! This should solve your problem.

Hi Gijs. I'm having a big problem in terms of call experience with these headphones. Anytime I'm making a call, the other person hears very loudly any noise happening around me. It doesn't have to be very loud. It's so annoying. If I change to the phone, the person hears me way better. Do you know how could I solve this? Thanks so much!
@@pablofernandez-portillo2400 phone itself got much easer job because it got one mike next to your mouth and second in another end of the phone so sound cancellation warks way better.

I’m glad I can across your videos, I’m also supporting the same hairstyle as you :) and found it hard to come across a reviewer that would talk about comfort when it came too over the head headphones (and from the UK).I have pair of B&W px headphones and the look and sound lovely but the clamping force and the top of the headband leaves me with a sore head.
So I’m either thinking sony mx4 or Bose 700 ( leaning more towards Bose ) which would you say are more comfortable? :)
Haha, thank you! As for the comparison with Bose, I'm afraid I haven't tried the 700, so can't say for definite. But the XM4s are very comfortable.

Hi Mark, Great review...really helpful. Have you been using these headphones with apple devices (MacBooks/iPhones)? Just saw that they only support the AAC codec and wondered if this made any difference to the sound compared to LDAC (which apple doesn't support)? Thanks

Great review thanks watching this on my XM4’s I ordered from Amazon last week. I agree with you on your points and they’re really comfy. I have a cheaper pair of overheads and I didn’t realise how bad they were for confort and sound until I started using the XM4’s. One thing I do find is that they get sweaty quite quickly and that’s with just wearing them around the house, but perhaps that’s just me and my skin type. Also just a point on the phone call quality, I find if I turn the ambient noise to the max and tick the box to focus on my voice, I can hear my voice really well when talking. Perhaps not as good as the apple EarPods but it’s not too bad 👍

I love my XM3s honestly. I've had mine for about 2 yrs now got it around christmas time in 2019. I waited so long watching reviews and stuff online and finally bit the bullet and bought em. My gosh the sound quality and all the features it's wonderful after having like basic Skullcandy headphones that were like around $80-100 CAD. I'm still happy with my purchase and I take really good care of my XM3s in the hardcase. I found it hilarious Mark said the lady says 90% battery cause I feel like I also rarely charge it xD I don't think I missed out not getting the XM4s but I also recommend teh XM3s as a value buy or a XM4s if you got money to blow haha great review video!

This review may have been uploaded prior to the speak-to-chat feature was added. The microphone picks up your voice and channels it into the speakers so you can speak to someone and hear yourself fairly clearly. Or the dual device feature was improved? I can connect seamlessly between two devices with no issues.

These are good. I went around 3 weeks before I needed to charge em too.
It’s one of the best features. You just never feel like you have to charge them.
I bought mine yesterday and its quality from listening to music was immensely incredible. I just had a few problems with its mic, the noise cancellation doesn't work properly when I'm recording or talking to someone over the phone, perhaps noise cancellation in microphone of XM4 are not that good compare if you're just listening to music.
There are a variety of reasons for this, but primarily the mic is being used for the call and therefore can't be used to pick up ambient noise (which is then "cancelled" by playing back an inverse frequency).
i have the problem where the other person cannot hear me because i'm too soft or they can only hear my footsteps/grocery cart. this part was disappointing. I see people using air pods all the time with no problem. why can't this just work?

Brilliant headphones except they have terrible lag with my LG OLED TV. Other headphones don’t have the lag so it’s confusing why these do.
I had a pair of beats studio 3s, still do but i just got these, i prefer these heavily as i like the over hear comfort but honestly theres a difference between loud headphones and ones that sound great, these are both

I bought these based on your review...... Damn these are amazing. I especially love the sensor in the ear. My girlfriend is constantly talking and it's nice I can just take them off and pause the music. I'm a shower singer so I turned off the talk setting. But this is the first time I've spent £220 on some headphones, but they are worth every penny. Thanks for the advice

I actually now own THREE pairs of Sony NC headphones. Bought the XM3's about a year ago and recently purchased the XM4's as well as the cheaper entry level WH_CH710N.
So why in the world would someone own 3 different pairs of NC headphones you ask.
I'm single and live alone (no need to listen for roommates trying to get my attention) BUT I live in a very noisy top floor apartment.
And anyone who has lived in a large apartment building knows...all it takes is a few inconsiderate neighbors to make apartment living very difficult.
So, I have my cheaper Sony entry level WH_CH710N in the kitchen for when I'm cooking and cleaning up the mess I create after cooking while listening to news, etc. on my iPad.
Then, I have my XM4's sitting next to me in the livingroom which are connected to my Apple TV. This is where these headphones really shine. Incredible deep full bass sounds without any distortion.
Finally, I have my XM3's in my office where I put them on while I'm trying to focus on writing, programming, editing video, etc.
Aside from noisy neighbors...there are many other unwanted noises such as a very loud A/C unit that will soon by running 24/7/week since I live in Las Vegas.
And then there is the dumpster truck that comes around twice per week. As is my luck...the dumpsters are a few feet away from my office window and when this truck shows...it sounds like like a battle scene out of a Star Wars movie.
Oh, in addition to all of this...I live in a 'no dogs banned' apartment complex and although tenants are not supposed to leave their dogs on their balconies, many do and you often hear one or two dogs barking like crazy because they want in.
Many of these things are issues most of us deal with whether living in an apartment or house but in an apartment environment...it's on a much larger scale.
Bottom line...if you live in a noisy apartment setting (unless it's a 55 plus or senior living space, what apartment building isn't noisy?)...these NC headphones are a necessity, especially if you work from home like I do.

I have the AirPods Pro and I was interested in getting over ear headphones instead of earbuds. noise cancellation and bass are my biggest topics when it comes to headphones or earbuds. Would you say the noise cancellation and bass is better than the AirPods Pro earbuds which I already love and think are great?
It's far better than the AirPods Pro, but, then, over-the-ears have a bit of an advantage on that front when it comes to ANC :)
Thank you so much for helping me making up my mind. I was torn in between the XM4 and the AirPods Pro.. yeah yeah... I know they’re both in different leagues... 😄 I already have the regular AirPods (Gen 2), so I think I’m gonna go with a FULL-ON headphones for music and movies this time.
