Back in the day you'll find that audiences thought it was respectful to sit and pay close attention to a performance. Sometimes at dinner clubs there'd be a dance floor in front of the stage. This was also a clip from a movie portraying a mature audience. It was those wild teenagers who would really get into it. 😉
Dion DiMucci was one of the most beloved of the doo wop singers. Dream Lover, Donna the Primadonna, The Wanderer, Save the Last Dance for Me are all other hits of his. Plus more.
Nice reaction. A little tidbit, when he recorded this he was deep into a Heroin addiction and would not get clean until 1969 so that gives him about 55 years clean. He is very open about how 12 step programs saved his life. His best work imo has been the last 15 years, check some of that out.
That was the time of Bobby Darren, Dion, The Everly Brothers, Ricky Nelson, Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon! They were the teen heartthrobs from that time.
Cliff, yes Dion was a early rocker, but he mellowed in his later years. Listen to Abraham, Martin and John. A tribute to them after being assassinated. Wonderful song.
love these old songs. my dad listened to them all the time. heres more if youre interested Del Shannon -- Runaway. Buddy Holly -- Thatll be the Day. Peggy Sue. Peggy March -- I Will Follow Him The Crystals -- Da Do Ron Ron The Righteous Brothers -- You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'. Unchained Melody
If you like runaround sue, you'll like Dion and the Belmonts "A Teenager In Love" "I Wonder Why" "No One Knows"(Dion was the lead singer of the group before he went solo)
I'm 39 years old and Dion is one of my all time favourite singers. Back in the day when you didn't need autotune or strippers in your video. Just a guy standing there singing his heart out and all the songs had an actual story! Bobby Vee is also a favourite, if you haven't already heard it, I would suggest Bobby Vee - Rubber Ball, very fun. Gene Pitney 24 hours from Tulsa is also a favourite.
I am foud of this song, when I was a kid these guys use to practice at my friends house, and every time they see me they would play this, I would smile, and run away.Fond memories! My name is sue
Dion's a legend Please check out, Dion's "Abraham, Martin and John", kind of a tearful ode to assassinated U.S. political giants. He later added a verse for Bobby Kennedy. Thanks for the reaction, Cliff. Always a pleasure.
I worked with a girl years ago, when I was obviously much more naive, when she told me in a matter of fact fashion that she had 3 guys on the go at once, monogomist me was shocked, mainly at her deception. Different people make the world go round I guess!
This isn't a live performance in front of a real audience. It's from a movie. Have you ever seen a live performance in a real concert in the 1950s, e. g. from Elvis? Compare it with this directed movie scene. I remember an autobiography of a German singer (Peter Kraus) who was very popular in the 1950s/1960s. He wrote that one time he attended a Bill Haley concert in the 1950s. He was shocked when people started to throw chairs. But what shocked him even more was the fact that Bill Haley encouraged the audience to behave this way. Peter didn't like that at all.😄
Hello! Great song. You asked for more classics. Here's one. This is In Dreams by Roy Orbison. Amazing voice. Totally unique. This song was released in 1963. This video is of a special live show in 1987/88 with a star band. He played rock, but made these killer ballads. He passed shortly after way too young. th-cam.com/video/-8Jz3VW7rYk/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
This looks like it was filmed for a movie. So that audience is made up of actors who were told how to react. And this sounds like the track so not live.
I’m sure you get plenty of recommendations??. I’ve posted before, maybe there not good for the algorithm 🤬🤬🤬. It’s all good I enjoy it all. Again Happy Holidays AOD🎄🎄🎄❤️❤️❤️👵🏼 Gmaw
This was a scene in a movie. That’s why they’re acting like they are

I still listen to Dion, in the CD player in my old convertible. Doo wop was so good!

That man is still singing and hes in his 80's.
I love Dion. Thank you. ❤❤

The other side of the coin. 😂
Hell, for that matter, check out the entire soundtrack from The Wanderers (1979)
The Wanderer is probably in my top 10…definitely the other side of the coin

Thank you and Happy Holidays! You may enjoy Del Shannon's original Runaway as a present. This made my Christmas Eve after a long third shift.
Cliff, yes Dion was a early rocker, but he mellowed in his later years. Listen to Abraham, Martin and John. A tribute to them after being assassinated. Wonderful song.
In my humble opinion, this is the greatest pure pop song ever recorded.
Dion is very much alive and still making incredible music!
This is such an awesome song. Dion is an icon! Love your reaction!

I enjoyed your reaction I'm going to put you on a group that's magnificent( The Platters, only you)❤
I would highly recommend Song for Sam Cooke (Here In America) for a very, VERY different perspective on Dion.
If you want to see people boppin' way back when, check out Gary U.S. Bonds - Quarter to Three, a dance hit from 1961
Growing up in the 60's/70's we changed some of the words. Can't say now as TH-cam might block me. 😂😂

Frankie and the cavaliers last kiss
Along Same Subject Check out Del Shannon Marie's The Name of His Latest Flame😂😂
This is from a movie . This was alway a joyful party song ,Come on does this sound painful? It was about DooWop harmonies and call & response .

Dion, singing with Paul Simon, one of his newer songs: th-cam.com/video/lRQxM0c4vdE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4T5Y6dgzuRtTyK3f
The song your own backyard is about him getting off of drugs. It helped me get sober. Check it out please!

Dion was supposed to be on Buddy Holly's plane but balked at the $36 dollar price tag.
The day the music died 😕🥺
🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍💃💃
B Movie....
For the movie, the people are not allowed to react until told to do so...
Brenda Lee 15 year old I'm sorry. Black and white video from the 60s also
Abraham, Martin and John is a good song by Dion.
Keep Karen away from the Sax guy🤣🤣🤣. I been saying for a long time, they don’t make music like the oldies. ❤️❤️❤️👵🏼
