    The lack of functionalities on this camera is actually good for beginners. It gives beginners the basic instincts in photography rather than bring spoonfed with technology.
    Getting the right instincts is the biggest selling factor for this camera.

    With a good prime lens and good light this camera can take shots in near identical quality to most modern cameras, Peter Mckinnon has a video showing this specifically. What this camera lacks is features rather than image quality.

    • @GaryJahman
      @GaryJahman  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes in controlled condition a lot of cameras can produce good image quality. But I’m pretty sure no beginning photographer has a controlled environment. It definitely lacks image quality in normal everyday life situations ✌️

    • @gregorypecaut7164
      @gregorypecaut7164 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      That seems to be mostly because of the really bad 18-55 kit lens, not the camera body. But it is a very useful range for a first lens. And the other problem is when a new user asks what should the first good lens be, most will tell them a 50mm prime, and they buy the 50mm f/1.8. Again not the sharpest, and 50mm is great on a full frame, but with an aps-c, 35mm would have been a much better choice.
      This is where the beginner balks. A good 35mm f1.4 could cost more than his camera and kit lens combined. But it will turn his soft focus, under exposed, or noisy pictures into great photos.
      Beginners think they need a better camera. What they need is better lenses. Even the cheap Rebel T7 can take fantastic photos, when coupled with a great lens, and being an APS-C, there are great lenses that cost far less than EF full frame lenses.
      1; your camera's focusing can never be better than the lenses ability to get a sharp focus. A Holga lens on a 5d mk IV will get you the same picture on a T7. The lens is the limiting factor. Yes the 5d mk IV can take much sharper photographs, if both cameras are using an L50mm f/1.2 lens, but who puts a $1,200 lens on a T7?
      Because the T7 is an APS-C, and needs a better lens than the kit lens, I suggest the little pancake EF-S 24mm. It lets in more light than the kit lens, focuses faster and is sharper. And is not too expensive. Second lens for a T7 would be a 50mm f/1.4. It's sharper than the f/1.8 version, lets in more light, and can be had for as little as $20 more.
      Beginners, remember when you are getting into photography, you are investing in a system, and the EF/EF-S lenses you buy will not only be for your first camera, but future cameras as well. If you think you may invest in a full frame camera later, you may want to buy EF lenses, instead of EF-S lenses. But if the camera of your dreams is a 90d or an 80d then when you buy EF-S lenses, buy good lenses, and they will last a lifetime.
      And yes, an EF L25-70mm f/2.8 is USM lens costs 7 times what a T7 camera costs, but try and find a better lens. Even if your dream camera is a 5d mk IV, you would still be using this lens.
      I own several Canon cameras. From an old kiss, t6i, T7, and T7i, to 6d, 5d mk iii, 80d, and want a 6d mk Ii and 90d. Just can't get myself excited about the R cameras because I have an excellent EF and ef-s lens collection.
      I have bought 2 T7 cameras, one for my wife and one for my son in law. Because they are the best camera under $800 available today.
      But do get some good glass (lenses) on it, before you think you need a better camera.
      Remember, a good photographer can take beautiful pictures with a cheap camera.
      A poor photographer will still take mediocre photos with a million dollar rig.
      Get out and shoot. Learn all you can about composition, lighting, and photography technique. That's what really makes your photos great.
      Bought the 90d, wow what a camera.
      When talking about lenses, I forgot to mention, if you don't like swapping lenses, shoot with good light of flash, and want one lens for everything, look at Tamron 's 18-400 for efs cameras. No it's not as sharp, nor does it have the aperture of a prime lens, but 18-400mm means most people can get by with just this lens for most uses.

    3:13 the major reason why manual focus isn't great on modern DSLR cameras is the absence of the split prism that was in most, if not all, half decent analog cameras, that thing rocks, and completely removes the guesswork of adjusting the focus.

    Thak you for your vídeo!
    You can actually focus very easily with this camera, just use one point (the centre one), focus with that point on the eye and recompose! I have now a sony a7iii but 3 weeks ago I swap cameras for a photo shoot with a friend just for fun and I was able to focus all the time.. Of course, the image quality is not the same as my current camera, but it focuses very well as long as you focus and recompose, which for me is very easy because that is how I learn how to photograph on a T5i

    • @Anna-gv7vo
      @Anna-gv7vo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@autofigure00 hi Drew, the reason I didn't get the a7c and instead I got the a7iii is because the a7c only has one card slot and that is important for me, but if you don't mind, the a7c is a good choice. I'm saving to get the a7IV but it will take a while... The a7C is not comparable to the EOS 2000D in terms of image quality, focus and many other things... The a7C way much better as it is the a7iii. Hope it helps with your decision.

      I've bought several T7's for gifts for beginner to get into photography. Best bang for the buck available. However the kit lens is nowhere near the best lens. It's a foundation that can be built on. Off camera flash, better lenses, etc. And the accessories you buy for it move along as you get a better body. It's a lot better first camera than an M series. As you buy better and special lenses for the T7, they will still be usable all the way up to a 90D or if you buy EF lenses to a 5D mk IV or a 6D mk Ii. Not having to buy all new lenses when you improve your camera body makes stepping up a lot cheaper.
      But beware, that L glass costs times more than a T7.

      Your first camera is a BIG deal. You are buying into a system. Think of your dream camera first. Canon or Nikon, or what ever. Make sure if you very from photography or video, that you have options in the system you choose. Then pick your affordable camera in that line. Even the cheapest camera body performs better with better lenses, and your next step up in camera bodies gets real expensive if you need all new lenses to go with it. Every camera and lens "kit" comes with a cheap, under performing lens. The T7 is no exception, same with Nikon, Sony, etc. Many buy the body only and put the saved money towards a better lens. But most buy the kit. Especially if you can get the kit for almost the same price as just the body. But your camera can never perform better than the lenses mounted on it. So shop lenses before buying into a system as well.

      Screen protector, lens hood. If it's dusty or you eat sticky food and can't keep your fingers off the lens, a UV filter. That way when you clean the lens with your tee shirt and scratch it. Your lens won't be scratched, just the cheap filter.
      A good camera bag. Secure, and at least water resistant. Padded and room for a camera cleaning kit ( blower, brush, lens cleaning tissues), spare batteries, one or two extra lenses, and spare memory cards.
      Quick detach clips for your camera strap, especially if you also use a tripod. Camera straps are the number one reason for cameras on a tripod getting knocked over. Or off a table.

      It will have much better quality when you crop, but most of all, when you zoom in with a phone, it's digital zoom, that means it's just cropping in. With a camera, zoom with the lens is optical, so you can still crop, but when you print the picture it has more detail and will be sharper. Phone cameras do a lot of processing automatically, leaving you a good picture, but much less data for you to process the picture as you want it.
      Phones have come a long way, but most cameras, even beginner cameras, still take better photos.
