thanks for the video. i bought a 12mm chain and a disc lock for the rear wheel with an alarm. it was your demonstration of trying to cut the chain that convinced me.
Thank you for your kind feedback. Its a shame that we have to go to extraordianry efforts to protect our own property. Also, remember grinders can cut through almost anything so we still have to be mindful of that. Happy and safe riding!
I don't leave my bike anywhere, I even take it in stores. Walmart, Home Depot, and others allow me to. If they don't I don't shop there period. If they want it, they can take it no matter what you do. It's a huge loss quickly.
I saw a guy put his bike against a rail to do some planks and some tried to walk off with the bike. Luckily the owner spotted it and then it turned into a big fight. This was on the beach boardwalk. So I take in into the bathrooms with me.
The thief that took your bike is probably homeless, there's a lot of them at the beach and stealing bikes is what they do. If I ever need to lock up my bike I would use a chain and/or u-lock and wrap it tight around the bike leaving little to no room for the thief to use their tool. Removing the front wheel can be a deterrent as well.
Just dont leave it unattended. It will be gone for sure. I bring mine in my house and never park it anywhere ..3 yrs in i have 6000 miles on my lectric 1.0, best money I spent in a long time.
I agree they are a good deal, especially back then for $799. I try to stay with the bike but as you saw all the folks at the pier, there are people that don't. For those that don't, hope they just make it a little harder for the thief.

Theft is so crazy these days...sad.

I fold my e bike when I lock it up with my chain lock.I hope that is deterrent enough.
That's a good idea too...I think every little thing helps. If we get too complacient, then we become easy targets.
where did you buy the chain?
Which one? The Hex Link chain from Amazon.
