Massive Massive warning here please pin this or something! There is a gamebreaking bug here with the the den in the wolf system!! If you board an enemy ship, steal it and make it your homeship then go straight too the den. At some point if you go back into your ship or change homeship too the frontier or another ship other that the one you flew to the den with. The game would either teleport you back too new atlantis or everything seems fine and the next time you get back too new atlantis... There will be sections of the ramp at the starport missing the bounty, mission and kiosk board will be missing and overall weird glitched textures. So not quicksave but hard save before even boarding a ship, goes also for stealing ships landing on planets. Right after go too new atlantis too see if the holes are there... if not then continue all good. If the holes are there you need too do the boarding / homeship / wolf system - the den interaction different. I found this out the hard way 70+ hours in been in space forever lvl 34... had too go all the way back too lvl 16 thats where i had a save that wasn't f.ed This is a known bug hopefully this gets fixed soon. Alternatively you could goto porrima III at the red mile and you can sell contraband too the bartender, no scan or anything just like the den.
@@theouterspacecowboy yea now I know, got a better ship :D but I was mad because I was stuck at a sidequest where I have to go back into space and instantly getting attacked by 3 spacer ships at the same time. Died there everytime with no chance.
Okay but how do you fight multiple ships? The compas dial points to enemies in a plane behind you as if they are right next to you. When I corner one, I get shredded by the other two. There are no evasive maneuvers in this game or flares to fire off to disperse enemies scrambling to give chase. I have the speed to get rid of one but I can never interpret where the other is strafing. The radar systems are nonexistent so I’m flying blind. Whoever designed this system needs to be fired.
Boost to an asteroid or other cover, prioritise low level enemies to even the numbers out quicker, invest in ship based skills, upgrade your ship... or just grav jump out and come back when you're ready
boost away to about 4km range, then turn to go headon but throw ship in reverse with thrusters on (holding spacebar) reversing about 160km/sec , depending on your weapon you could be able to atack before enemy comes into effective range for them to fire
The best place to practice your ship combat skills is in the ship simulator on New Atlantis. Another useful thing in combat is using your ship's side thrusters, which allows you to turn very sharply once you unlock the skill.
I just discovered particle beam weapons last night when finally playing with the ship builder on Neon. Put effectively 9 particle beam weapons on my Freelancer v2.0 (heavily customized) and now i slap. Just am a glass cannon still

Always engines at full power (low and medium speed to pick your target), when they start firing, you start firing and boost during your strafe. boost can break and or stop enemies Missile locks on you..
I was pulling my hair out because of this. I managed to do the mantis quest and the ship you get from that has got me through a few battles. Hopefully will get me through until I can get the skills to pilot a class B. Up until then I was completely stuck with the starting ship….even after upgrading it multiple times.
I am doing everything described in here, but I can't for the life of me, win in space combat. even against 3 level 10 or 15 ships I get melted. There is nothing I can do. My shields are gone in an instant, and my health can't repair fast enough. I don't understand what I am doing wrong.

The Grav energy bar doesn’t change the jump distance, it changes how quickly the Grav drive spools up. Can be useful if you need to jump away to safety if loosing a fight. Select a system in the star map to jump to and give energy to the drive.

the dog fighting is so terrible
Good video but this has to be the most non fun ship combat ever. It’s slow, clunky and all over the place.
Some of the worst space combat ive seen.. im trying to do final mission of crimson fleet spy thing
I have 8 ship parts and still isnt enough
They need to take notes from nms or star citizen jesus.. trash game
And ive spent 3 skill points into ships
And 60k in upgrades ..
playing on regular too
Just tried starfield/star manure. I can tell you ship battles isn't worth it. Took around 15 minutes going in circles shoot outs , destroyed the first one then two more ships showed up. Starfield has the longest ship battles in videogame history I think. Not interested in that.
Ship combat is just fuckin dumb
Soooo much of this is just straight up incorrect
