I am crying now. Everytime I see this movie, which had to be easy 100 times (I have the movie), I just love it, Richard Chanberlain is the greatest actor, good looking, and played Father Ralph perfectly. Meggie is beautiful, young and such a great actress. All the actors were cast perfectly. Mancini's music is superb. Excellent movie, a must see, rent it if you can. Love this movie, Thank you Mr. Chamberlain for another perfect acting job.
Just want to add something, I haven't read the book. But from what some other comments said, the book was better than the mini-series. Must read it, but all in all Mini-series was TERRIFIC. What melts my heart 💕

It would have been another great, unforgettable piece of art, loved as this first one by many, old and young. Thorn birds tugged at my heart then and even now it does.I can’t even find the book I had.Oh how I wanted the movie to be true.I so immersed myself in it. that I was not in a world of reality.such great memories;such a wonderful movie.

Colleen Mc Cullough was such a wonderful writer! I read this novel in the 1970's while in high school and could hardly wait for the mini series to come out. Didn't know what form weather a movie or mini series. There was always so much more in the novel.
He was an 1d1ot. And he admitted so in the last scene, minutes before he died. Although he died differently in the book, this last scene is very touching, when she came to him, embraced him and he dropped the rosary. That's for me the key scene: He dropped the rosary. He should have dropped it years earlier. But in those times, they would have been outlaws had he left the church for her.
Ralph's pride was always in the way.... He loved god, He loved Meggie, but still was selfish, he wanted the Vatican most..... Meggie's mom led the same fate, she had fallen in love with a married politician. Frank, Meggie's oldest brother was the moms love child like Dane was for Ralph and Meggie. Neither women got the men they truly loved.... That was the biggest tragedy. ...👏Very Well done miniseries! 👏👏👏👏
