    Terms Upload and download always confusing because it the opposite of “internet”. I remember PLCs are selfish always from the PLCs perspective, download to PLC upload from PLC. Thanks Tim!

    • @josephcameron4771

      What helps me is early on someone explained it as the larger device downloads to the smaller. Internet downloads to Server, Server downloads to PC, and PC downloads to PLC. So someday when they network our brains, you can tell where you are in the pecking order by who/what you download to and upload to.

    DO NOT PUSH IT DOWN WHEN REMOVING. Just pull the slide back then pull the top of the control unit out. If you look closely when the slide is pushed in it is pushing down and locking in the retaining clip. By pushing down to pull it out you’re locking it back in.

    A couple of questions regards this method and the drives themselves. I tried this method to extract parameters off a working drive but the computer just hangs until I disconnected, upon trying with a brand new drive out of the box it worked perfectly. With the interface still loaded on screen I unplugged and connected the other drive it again hung but I could see the version number was different? Maybe firmware issues reading the older working drive?
    I was able to access over Ethernet with ccw however. Is it possible to remove the top off a single phase in drive and mount on a 3 phase in drive that I have power on in the workshop to extract parameters over Ethernet?? Thanks

    • @TimWilborne

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would depend on whether the PLC had Ethernet connections that it depended on. If it did then it would probably be bad news. If it didn't then you would probably be OK. But probably better to stop the machine to be safe.

      No but a semi work around is to have a 120VAC Powerflex 525. The control module is the same for all of them, so you could power it up and connect via Ethernet on a test station.

      The Powerflex 525 doesn't have a removal keypad. It has a control module and a power module. You can do the same thing, you just pull the control module off the bad drive and put it on the good drive.
