I noticed that you have finnish sauna stove, Harvia, good choice! You might consider to purchase metallic Harvia watertank that can be attached to stove and you get warm water at the same time you heat up the sauna. Then you just mix cold and warm water in bucket and wash yourself after ”löyly”, which is special finnish word for the lovely heat and moist that you enjoy in sauna. That`s how it is done here in Finland!
The sauna is a nationell treasure in Finland, but the sauna is also importent in Sweden. Here we have enjoyed the sauna since the middle ages. The sauna is a part of our history. I love you girls! A million hugs and love from Sweden.
Make sure you peel and eat an orange in the sauna, that is the best ever.. The essential oils from the peals and the juicy taste from the orange is just heaven when in a sauna or *bastu* as we say it over here in Sweden. Glad to see you guys made it through Fiona! Do you girls plan to do a video in the future breaking down the cost of all of these projects? I enjoy watching and it motivates me to start taking steps towards the development of my own homestead, but I think no one talks about how expensive it can be to actually launch projects like this. I’m sure many of us would greatly appreciate a break down of base costs and tips for how we all can save money going into our own projects!
I advise you getaalarm clock or timer, too long in there and you will make yourself really sick. worst dehydration I ever had was from a hot tub . Made me so uneasy I sold it . Every time I get in real hot water i get that sick feeling again.
Yeah, this channel lost me awhile ago. Off-grid living is not this. The amount of money that is going into developing this remote castle-like property is not realistic for any working class or "regular" person. It doesn't embody the spirit of what it means to be simple or budget-conscience in anyway. I highly doubt they will release any of the financial aspects of this because they have much more money than most people have. I really like these ladies and I don't mean ill-will at all here. It's great they are living their "best lives" and all that, but it isn't something that brings me any kind of joy or guidance anymore. I

If by leveraging their popularity on You tube and getting sponsors kudos to them. Sponsors must decide that its worth their while to help the girls that is their decision. To me it shows the girls are smart to go this way. None of the advertising they do goes against their ethics of living a sustainable lifestyle and doing their bit to save the planet. It demonstrates to me that you can live the way you want off grid with a lot of hard work and a lot of smart gumption. Not only that their statistics show it's a very popular topic and you my friend are very much in the minority.

Love it 😍 Two ideas 💡 1) create a flat area at the back or side, free from sharp rocks or bush. Then when it snows and you enjoy the sauna, you have an area which you can jump and roll into in the winter. 2) grow some herbs and plants to make a sauna beat stick Glad your both ok with your the storm. 🥰 Xx

Having a big bucket of cold lake water near the door with a cloth for bathing is literally the best feeling with an off-grid sauna. I experienced that at Lure of the North (Northern Ontario) and I daydream about their sauna all the time. Ha. Love you girls. Thanks for sharing your adorable lives with us! So inspiring always! You ladies ROCK! Being of Finnish decent, born n raised in the UP of Michigan I understand why you are obsessed with the sauna. FYI, it is a Finnish tradition, that when building a new home/dwelling, they build the sauna 1st because in the cold winter they have a warm place to keep warm during the Finnish winters and continue to build the house. Glad you weren't affected by the hurricane. Thought of you when I saw it was headed your way. Looking forward to every episode.

Ok your pair - I have so much respect for what you have done and what you do. My wife and I have renovated 4 properties, raised and educated 2 children and worked full time. We live in the country (now). We have chickens, Alpacas and Klaus (our German Shepherd) - who protects us from fallen branches, leaves that blow by and our chickens who wander past his personal territory. Watching you each week reinvigorates every part of how and why we do this. Australia :)
Hello! This winter you can do what we in Scandinavia do in the winter, namely roll yourself in the snow when you have been in the sauna and then go back in and enjoy more

1:16 that’s actually not quite level. Y’all do a great job on everything and I love the channel. But, when it comes to leveling something, the bubble really does have to be perfectly in the center. If it’s touching one of the lines, or is even a smidge over, it can lead to your project being not level by several inches. Just a friendly tip. In most small projects, it’s not a big deal. But just keep it in mind for larger projects.

Having a big bucket of cold lake water near the door with a cloth for bathing is literally the best feeling with an off-grid sauna. I experienced that at Lure of the North (Northern Ontario) and I daydream about their sauna all the time. Ha. Love you girls. Thanks for sharing your adorable lives with us! So inspiring always! (JUST last week we purchased lakefront land on Cape Breton Island -- Cabot Trail Grand Étang! Moving from SW ON next fall). I've been really following along with your projects and ive noted this sauna may be on our 'must have' list. ❤🇨🇦💪 hugs! Glad to see you're okay after Fiona!

You ladies ROCK! Being of Finnish decent, born n raised in the UP of Michigan I understand why you are obsessed with the sauna. FYI, it is a Finnish tradition, that when building a new home/dwelling, they build the sauna 1st because in the cold winter they have a warm place to keep warm during the Finnish winters and continue to build the house. Glad you weren't affected by the hurricane. Thought of you when I saw it was headed your way. Looking forward to every episode.

Ok your pair - I have so much respect for what you have done and what you do. My wife and I have renovated 4 properties, raised and educated 2 children and worked full time. We live in the country (now). We have chickens, Alpacas and Klaus (our German Shepherd) - who protects us from fallen branches, leaves that blow by and our chickens who wander past his personal territory. Watching you each week reinvigorates every part of how and why we do this. Australia :)

This winter you can do what we in Scandinavia do in the winter, namely roll yourself in the snow when you have been in the sauna and then go back in and enjoy more

1:16 that’s actually not quite level. Y’all do a great job on everything and I love the channel. But, when it comes to leveling something, the bubble really does have to be perfectly in the center. If it’s touching one of the lines, or is even a smidge over, it can lead to your project being not level by several inches. Just a friendly tip. In most small projects, it’s not a big deal. But just keep it in mind for larger projects.

Here in NB we had torrential rain, no trees down but millions of leaves down green one as well as those that had turned already. I was amazed at how quickly the Sauna went together, you guys made it look easy as per usual, I'm beginning to realise how efficient you really are. What's next the Solar Array?
