I'm surpised Emile didn't mention that the cutscene with Luigi falling into the room with the possessor was the same all three times. It didn't show up as orange or red in the cutsenes. Just white.

Here it is. The hardest and most annoying boss in the game. E.Gadd was not lying when he said it'll be a difficult fight last time.

Platinum Tidal I found the 5th boss really easy. It was this boss that took me ages to beat.
On that first attempt, Chuggaa tried to BOMBard them, but unfortunately met with a cold fate... I guess that boss really reFUSEd to give up!

This boss was *HELL* when I was younger. It took me 25 tries to beat it, and I got so mad at one point that I had to go outside and take a walk just to calm myself down. After that I came back and successfully beat it.

What he does is plays it a couple months before the Let's Play begins so he remembers the game, but still has a bit of a blind feel to it because you don't quite remember everything.

Maybe others find the boss divICEive, but I love everything about it. Its design is nicer than I'd expect a boss made of frozen water and the unique mechanic is fun for how short it is. Also, I didn't know you could run out of bombs. I never had that much trouble with the boss before so I guess I never noticed that there was a meter *right in front of me*.

Despite this boss being really hard, I love the concept of the fight. So unique and original compared to the other ones. Also combines your knowledge of physics and perfect timing.

i feel like such a jerk. i was like, 11 when this game came out, so it took me literal DAYS to beat this boss, let alone the mansion itself. i hated this area, and when emile said that it was an easy boss, i felt so mad like. i got at least 50 game overs so i was like 'easy for you to say'. immediately as he messed up and got a game over i near shouted 'THATS WHAT YOU DESERVE', then immediately followed that with 'thats what you deserve.....man who has brought nothing but joy and knowledge into my life....' i almost out loud said 'sorry emile', but then i realized what was wrong with that equation. i think i need sleep lmao

The reason I never beat Dark Moon was because I never beat the Ice Monster.
Chugga I feel really bad about the first attempt at this boss, I don't blame you dude.. Cause JESUS CHRIST ITS HARD! Even if you don't use the motion controls aiming the bombs to actually hit the damn ice thing is freaking hell!

This fight took me three times in order to defeat it, but I really liked it! I cannot say I was expecting this kind of boss fight in Luigi's Mansion. The one thing I don't like is that you have the same cutscenes played several times...

The thing I can say about this boss fight: It's all about timing on the canon segment. You have to time your shots really well, and then pretty much get the bomb into its mouth on the first try. If you don't, you're done for. If you can get the timing right, it isn't too bad, but on the first go around, it can definitely a very difficult challenge

I hate this mission for good reasons.
Before I even got the game, I had a dream. I was stuck raging on one piece of ice in the second segment and got a Good Night message.
Yesterday was my very first experience with the boss. I didn't know what it looked like. I've never seen the boss at all except for the dream.
The dream and yesterday were completely in sync. Same words, same gameplay, same raging, same ice.
It literally took thirty tries to beat it.
I may be a fan of ice bosses, but this is one I hate.
I hardly even like the area and I love icy areas in video games designwise, but this just doesn't give that Iccurus City design feel.
Also needs better music.
I'm split across the two groups. It took me a billion tries to beat this mission BUT I loved it!

If you watch closely, you will notice that every single time he finishes the cannon stage of the boss, the cutscene shows him with his overcoat. Every single time.

UK version changes
Shrewd Possessor has a different name in the Uk version. He is called Scornful Possessor in my version. Description is slightly different but with the same meaning.
"Assuming the form of a huge icy monster, this Possessor tunnelled down through the mine in an effort to escape with his Dark Moon piece. Luigi was lucky to survive the ordeal!"
What might of helped you get 3 star Chugga was to do the max strength pull on the phase 3 boss as that gets you 3 gold bars instead of 3 coins. When I did it (took me 2 attempts as well), I got 3 stars, 4mins 35 secs, and 60 on treasure.
Here's the reason I hate this boss: I don't find "figure out the perfect angle, then time your shots differently each time without it being obvious at first he's getting further away, and you're on two time limits - one for him getting the ice back, one for how many shots until you instantly die" to be fun.
When E.Gadd said it's High Noon I would have loved to see Mc cree just jump through the screen holding his gun up saying "Did someone say it was high noon"

1:20 it’s possible the reason that the valley is called evershade valley is that it’s forever shrouded in night thus it really could be noon for them

I'm noticing a trend here. Most of the things that Emile praises I loathe, and vice versa. First the Polterpup, then the Old Clockworks boss, then the entirety of the Old Mine. I hope we can both agree that the final mansion is really fun to play.

The problem with the boss is that the margin for error is really slim. It's way too easy to mess up at the end.

Chuggaaconroy if you take the first letters of the first words in each location (gloomy, haunted, old, secret and treacherous) it spells ghost and the first letters of all of the possessors and the first letters of the name of the missions you get after getting all boos in one location. They all spell ghost.
This boss was the one that got me stuck. For so long. (I ended up not being able to finish the game because of this boss).
I grew panicked and wasn't able to stay clam and kept burning up.
In the boss from the Secret Mine, Luigi has to enter a workshop to find the Shrewd Possessor than turns into a giant icy monster tunneling through the workshop landing as the two wooden barrels fall down onto the ground and he boards onto the Sled-Mounted Shooter sliding downward through the icy tunnel! The Shrewd Possessor’s turned into an icy monster! Shoot bombs onto all the icy panels on the icy monster’s face then onto its open mouth while its eyes turn red to blow it up to capture the Shrewd Possessor inside a frozen pit! If the Sled-Mounted Shooter gets overheated, You’ll fail or it’s Good Night!

I've never been more grateful for chugga being around. I never knew just how many let's play channels never make it off the ground or die early on. Just one example being a guy called Sethsickness. He has about 2,000 subs and put a lot of effort into his videos and I dont think he even monitized them. The last upload he made was 2 years ago in 2014 canceling a stream and never responding to comments after labor day 2014. So sad, so much potential...
In the cutscenes the possesser is white. But when you battle him the second and third time, he is a different color
this is a good and unique idea for a boss, it is just a pain to fight in my opinion

See, I had figured out to aim for the middle ones early pretty quick. That wasn't my problem with the fight.
My problem with the fight is that when you miss the middle ones as chugga demonstrated, it makes it harder and harder to get that one center one you missed
Gotta agree with Chuggaa here. This is probably one of the best boss fights in the game imo. The setting's great, it's fast-paced, and the music for the fight's pretty good too.
I'm one of the people that actually love this fight compared to the pervious one in Old Clockworks. Which was one of the more weaker fights in the game.
I had no idea the shots were limited! I always thought the smoking meter was apart of the fight and was added for tension or something.
