An old method to resize pistons was to knurl the skirt. Some lathes even came with an attachment for just that purpose. This was a standard practice for a long time even for airplane engine pistons. Some thought at the time it was even preferable and would knurl the skirts of new pistons as the knurling would hold oil for lubrication purposes.
@@ken481959 I'm glad a few people know this. I have tried knurling to hold a hose in place to no avail. I ended up pop riveting it in place. Too much weight for the rubber
@@bobprice9244 If you knurl something to increase an interference fit tightness, be sure to use green Loctite for bearings and studs. Just don't plan on getting it back apart. That stuff works great.
Not sure if you know sharp edge knurling wheels are for direct pressure (or 'cut knurling' with wheels at an angle) Traversing pressure knurling like your doing, should have a chamfer on the edges. It gives a 'better' knurl (sorry if your not Russian but some other country near there?)
You are putting the knurling wheels square to the work piece. I have been placing them at a slight angle for many years and it seems to work better than square. Just a thought to share
Good job, and such a nice lathe you've got there. I'm in Nigeria and i want to purchase your type of lathe. Any way you can assist me?(not financially)
Use a center drill BEFORE you drill all holes. Using a center drill will keep your drill from being deflected and starting your hole in a different place. Center drill are cheap, using them will allow you to drill on round bar stock.
Hard way to make a chamfer tool, just use a triangular file and sharpen to a point on the three sides at the end..easy and stays sharp.. suggestion from a 76 yr old fitter
Deburring tool is not so genius. I have used a modified 3 corner file like that for years, but a roto burr is cheaper and safer. I don't need to watch more.
Your Verses from Romans⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. The boring bar is a great idea. Never thought of using a parting insert before 👍👍👍👍👍. I never thought I'd not be in a machine shop. I let several of these tidy little lathes oass by at bargain basement prices. Ñow I have an old 13 inch swimg South Bend lathe. Its tight , and works well. BUTT these little tool room lathes are so nice nice tho. I'm really glad to have a knee mill , and a lathe tho. Both are great for farm repairs. Mostly I'm glad for Eternal Salvation. It was so refreshing to see the Romans verse
H'mmm, as a life long time served engineer I'm always a bit suspicious of these people with apparently brand new lathes, and immaculate workshops who try to portray themselves as engineers. The first clue is that he doesn't use soft jaws to grip a newly knurled handle in the vice? but really the idea of destroying an expensive cutting tool to make a de-buring tool is ludicrous when you can buy one for coppers that will be much safer to use than the one he just made. Oddly enough in the later part of this video he actually uses a real de-buring tool?
Do you speak English ?? There is a guy here in Australia he can show you how to make a set of soft plates for you Chucks Have a look at Cutting Edge Engineering you need to look for that particular Video. Good Luck
But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Yeshua ישוע (Jesus) and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the YHVH יהוה (LORD) shall be saved.” Romans 10:1-13

I will never recommend anyone to serve their apprenticeship under you. First of all, you don't have machineshop ethics. You have thrown out safety first standards out the window. The manner in which you held the workpiece with the 3 jaw chuck is not acceptable. If you have too then use the 4 jaw chuck by all means. To find the center of a round workpiece on the milling machine, we used a piece of oiled paper to find the center. Today, we can purchase a center finder ( Wiggler) Your workshop safety standards is highly questionable.
Ok, Genius ideas might be a little over the top but I commend you on such a tidy shop, it makes genius ideas come to light so much more enjoyable.
Fantastic , what kind of insert tool or what number of insert you are using for cutting steel? Many thanks
Excelente aula prática de MECÂNICA . PARABÉNS MESTRE!

Thank you, my friend!
I always admire your caliper. Could you share the brand? Thx.

Além de ensinar boas ideias, também mostra o excelente ambiente de trabalho que está sempre limpo e organizado. Parabéns!😊
Thank you very much and welcome🙏
I have put a very heavy knurl on a part to press into an oversized hole to re-machine the correct hole in it. A bit of threadlok held it in place.
All right, man! Welcome!

Your belt grinder looks interesting. Can you provide the make and model and what you think of it?
E' sempre un grande piacere seguire i tuoi ottimi video, sei sei molto bravo!!

Your ideas are brilliant! I advise the TH-cam administration to show more of your videos! This is really useful and necessary!
Thanks my friend and welcome!
I get a kick out of “TH-cam administrators” sitting around deciding which videos to show
may i make a suggestion kick your knurling tool 10 degs it puts less force on the tool and allows for a good knurl if the dia is not correct

The homemade boring tool would also work as a fly cutter!
Good ideas my friend🎉🎉🎉
Thanks bro!
Very good!!!
Thanks my friend!
Excelentes idéias!
Never use a knurling tool with a live center, only use a dead center unless you like replacing bearings. Any first year apprentice knows this.
Thank you and welcome!
Why? Been machinist 20 yrs now and didint know. Our live tailstocks can handle more than 2 tons
Relax bro , the difference is you wear a groove in your dead centre no matter how hard the surface .
Toujours de bonnes idées very good job 👍🏻

Das ist eine Drehbank für Dreher. Drechsler arbeiten mit Holz (vorwiegend).
You will eventually regret using a cutoff while between a center and jaws.
