Following the cataclysmic events of “The Gotham War,” Batman finds himself completely isolated from his family, struggling to keep the rage of Zur in check. I like that Bruce Wayne Batman was about to fight and defeat versions of Zur (Into the Zurverse) before he told back control and Zur transferred himself into Failsafe. Also, I thought that the storyline will involve Joker facing off against Zur for six issues, but they escalated quickly.
For the Vandal Savage backup, it’s just Vandal trying to make a name for himself by becoming the next commissioner of Gotham. There’s no explanation on why his daughter Scandal seemed to side with him before she betrayed him during Gotham War.
Did not see the failsafe switch coming. Thats terrifying but I'd argue that Zor's consciousness being in there is actually a downgrade for the bot (if it doesn't retain any of its original programing)
This was an interesting issue . I like the story so far . Batman breaking Joker's spine Bane style 😂

Chip zdarsky's run has been up and down, but I love his central conceit--that the very trait that makes Batman Batman, his ability to devise a plan for every contingency, is the thing that will destroy him. Failsafe, the Batman of zurenarh, this terminus project are all contingency plans run amok.
What if Failsafe succeeded in killing Batman, that would make Zur would be dead as well. No chance that whole multiverse trip Failsafe sent Batman on was all part of the plan of Zur to get all the Multiverse versions of himself into the mindscape. The whole thing with Batman is he’s supposed to be one step ahead. This just seems convoluted. Credit to Chip for trying to make this work. Whatever plot he was tryna tell has been lost entirely
I disagree. Chip has written a Batman story the way Batman would write the story (thinking 3 to 4 steps ahead). I believe Zur put this plan into action after Alfred was killed. Zur programmed Failsafe; Failsafe sent Bruce into the Multiverse knowing he would find a way home and be exposed to other Zurs along the way. That's why Failsafe went into hiding, because Zur knew this could happen.
Also, the Batman of zurenarh is likely not going to kill Batman, for the very reason you state. He'll just keep him locked up or contained somehow.
Can't lie I did enjoy seeing Batman bane Joker and I knew we would see him again but I didn't think we'd see Fail-Safe quite so soon

I thought that Batman went to space.
that comic is set on Batman's first years before meeting Catwoman,Superman etc.
After reading this issue I quickly removed everything but my socks and undies then proceeded to the front yard to do some squat thrusts. The neighbors know to expect the possibility of this behavior on Wednesdays.
I hope failsafe (zur) escapes because this could be justice league level threat.
