  • Hello everyone,
    When talking possible guests for the Whitwell and Reepham Railway's Gala, Lawrie suggested the Wickham from the MSLR, and when they said what a great idea, lets do it, it was down to him to make things happen.
    Enjoy a bit of the behind the scenes of setting up for a gala, and then Lawrie actually being useful as operational staff!
    A big thank you to both the MSLR and the W&RR for their efforts to make the gala happen.

    On a slightly unrelated note; Mark "Hyce" Huber (former developer of Railroads Online and current employee of the Colorado Railroad Museum) said on stream that you're welcome to come visit and run locomotives with him! The ultimate collaboration! Also you should ask to drive his GTO ;)

    Just a bit of geography. Agecroft No 3, built in Newcastle-on-Tyne, worked at Agecroft Power Station (NW Manchester), a Ruston built in Lincoln and a Baguley built in Burton-on-Trent. Then the Wickham built in Bedford. I remember going across North Manchester to see the locos at Agecroft I worked for a while at ICI Blackley, so had daily sightings of Isabel (HL) and Lady Armaghdale (HC)

    10:06 you didn't need to cook it _with the loco?_ Is that a real railroad breakfast then?
    Okay, Hyce needs to cook a proper breakfast on an episode of K37 Kitchen...

I managed to have a few breaks to look outside and what an excellent job the railway put on with a variety of locos and stock. Great to see the Wickham stretching its legs. greetings from soaking wet California. We have near me in the little town of El Dorado, a small heritage railroad that operates over one of California's earliest railways using equipment very similar to your Wickham. There are three similar powered vehicles and each has it's own trailer and they all drive out in unison to provide a lovely ride on a portion of the Placerville branch of the SP. I think last year they may have started using a diesel locomotive and a couple of converted freight cars, but I wasn't able to get by on a working day last year to see it.
    Individuals have posted videos which can be found by searching El Dorado Western Railroad on this platform.
    As usual, another enjoyable video.

    The start and end of this video was Train Truckers On A Budget. You were missing your what if disaster if it was unloaded incorrectly.
    We have two Wickham trolleys on the Severn Valley Railway one is a enclosed version stationed at Bewdley and the other is in the siding at Highley which is similar to the Mid Suffolk's one but with front panels and windows front and rear weather protection canvases. We also have the more up to date modern day version of the Wickham trolley which is a light weight trolley with seats facing back to back powered by a Honda GX engine you usually see on generators, lawn mowers and other equipment. due to its light weight it is a lot easier for four people to pick up and turn around.

    • @lmm
      @lmm  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello there!
      Yes the Wickham is standard guage - though our loading guage is way smaller than the US.
      This one had its engine replaced in the late 50s with a JAP 2 cylinder 4 stroke.
      Apparently its an engine that was used on racing motorbikes. Apparently its rare and worth more than the Wickham itself!
