I always thought Tauntauns were imported, a hardy mountain or tundra animal the rebels brought to Hoth, as even they couldn't survive the deepest low temperatures. I wonder how their tiny ears and uncovered parts of their body managed to avoid freezing. This also means no lizard or slug like animals as their skin would also freeze. A food pyramid of lichens, fungus, and "ice plants" at the base wouldn't support much life. Lichens grow very slowly and have little in the way of nutrients, so rather than 8 foot tall Tauntauns and "Hoth Hogs" more like shrews and mouse sized animals. Hoth had an atmosphere with oxygen; oxygen is a reducing element that readily combines with other elements, so it needs to be replenished. Either the oceans on Hoth were teeming with algae keeping that going or the atmosphere was a relic of an earlier, warmer time, and would eventually deplete. Digging into caves to find warmth is a mixed bag, it's a given Hoth would have serious permafrost so digging deep down would get to caves that might be above freezing. The only caves in Antarctica that are close to real warmth (70 or so degrees) are near a volcano, Mt. Erebus. 10 foot tall... 300 lbs? A 10 foot tall Kodiak bear would probably be somewhere around 900 to 1200 lbs, maybe heavier. A 10 foot tall Wampa at 300 lbs simply doesn't make sense with it's obvious mass.

I don't think 🤔 the tabana gas on this planet is the only source in the galaxy, especially for it many uses. Otherwise, the empire fleets would have been present and defending all the time . Even Lando C. Said it was a small mining operation, " the empire hardly noticed it" 😅😅

I go by the EU lore of Hoth. Much more went down after the Empire was defeated.
Yeah, lot's of people pointed out I need to do a Legends follow up. And it's absolutely on the way.
Only what I saw in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ 😊
If a Wampa stood 10 ft tall it would weight 800-1000lbs. How could it possibly weigh only 300lbs?
@@nastynate4481 haha, not a clue. Hollow bones?
What if it was just winter and usually Hoth is a nice tropical place to stay?
@@jymwrite same location as scarif, just in the off season
10 foot tall... 300 lbs?
A 10 foot tall Kodiak bear would probably be somewhere around 900 to 1200 lbs, maybe heavier. A 10 foot tall Wampa at 300 lbs simply doesn't make sense with it's obvious mass.
@@retrotim no it doesn't. haha
The ONLY reason I ever liked winter! Could not wait, as a kid, for the first real snow. ALL the Hoth gear came out… Imagine the lot of neighborhood kids… All with their AT-ATs, Scout Walkers, Gun Emplacements… It was EPIC!
Now…
FTN!!!!
Where’s my electric blanket Yo?!?
🤣🤣🤣
I have the old mags, etc… Never knew about the depths of the place. Or I ‘forgot’… 🤦♂️✌️🤘🇨🇦

Does anyone remember the mission to Hoth in Jedi Academy? Seeing an abandoned Echo Base crawling with Imperial Remnants and Wampas. Fun mission!
@@RockRedGenesis I've been wanting to revisit all those old PC games. Haven't played them since they were new
@ the Jedi knight series is among the best Star Wars games in my opinion. And Outcast and Academy still have some of the best lightsaber combat of any game, although the force unleashed and fallen order/survivor games are pretty damn close
Was Hoth named after General oberst Hoth, who tried to relieve stalingrad in the terrible winter of 1943?
I really, REALLY, hope not
Vader was in the Hothpital for weeks after the battle. 😂
there was a shocking amount of Hoth puns in these comments.
I like to know what happened between episodes 4 and 5. How did the rebels end up on ice planet Hoth?
I forget which book it is but in it Luke goes back to Hoth and encounters remnants of rebel soldiers who got left behind in the evacuation. And during his visit he has an encounter with the Wampa he cut the arm off of.
Yeah hate they took my game of star wars commander long live sopansa
How many times does he say tauntaun in the video?
I think it's his favourite world
@MaxWalker.1989 haha. It was one of those cases you say the word so much you're positive it's wrong even when it's not
The Hoth system is in the Anoat sector, not Anoid sector.

I don't think 🤔 the tabana gas on this planet is the only source in the galaxy, especially for it many uses. Otherwise, the empire fleets would have been present and defending all the time . Even Lando C. Said it was a small mining operation, " the empire hardly noticed it" 😅😅
That part was more in regards to the blockade put up. It withheld resources from more than just Hoth. Cloud City was part of it as well. I don't think Hoth had any resources at all.
great vid and really inciteful. Few niggles though- after Yavin I thought the alliance split into cells again, with Riekan leading Echo and Mon Mothma elsewhere, so I don't think the whole Alliance was based there. Have you reading Battlefront Twilight company? that's a really good novel and features the battle from several rebel troops perspective. Check it out.
@@IanCaiMercer I have not read that one. I was going off of the marvel Star Wars run, just called Star Wars to make it confusing to reference. Just added it to my reading list though. Thanks!
We know more about Tauntauns than Yoda's species?
