I watched a whole walkthrough of this game a few years ago and I remember it being a masterpiece of a game. Watching now, there is no change, it's such an amazing game and the last few videos of the walkthrough is just.... you have to watch it for yourself.
Really loved this game. The ending is pretty sad when you hear the entire letter. I always liked the combination of horror and emotion in Silent Hill games. Anyway, I'm watching this through because I didn't feel like I could fully appreciate the atmosphere whilst playing through it myself. Sometimes, it's nice to sit back and enjoy it.

For some reason I have a feeling that one day, a movie will be made based on this. However, this one will blow every other game's corresponding movies out of the water and surprise everybody how good it is. It'll be so fascinating and unforgettable that it will garner praise from critics and be nominated for best picture. One can dream.
The idea is he's got nothing to live for. He's so desperate for his life back, if there wasn't even the slightest, THE SLIGHTEST, chance that he could somehow get her back....he'll believe anything. Otherwise, he'd just drive his car straight into the lake and end the charade of a life he'd been "living".

I hate how no one really talks about what's wrong with Silent Hill. No one says, "Yo. This place is fucked up, there's been witch craft and shit. There are monsters out there who want to rape your corpse."
The HD re-release was based on a beta build, and not the final code. It contains many errors and freezes that the PS2 release never had, pick it up if you don't have a PS2, but I recommend you select the option to play with the original voice acting, the re-dub lacks the emotion of the original voicing, like this scene where you can feel hidden contempt from James when he says "It's ridiculous, couldn't possibly be true; that's what I keep telling myself. A dead person can't write a letter."

It's okay. You never know when you might get on other peoples nerves because they get defensive over the games they played. I understand you don't like it and to be honest, even though I like the SH2, it's psychologically harrowing because of the main characters. Their stories are disturbing because some of their life experiences made them mentally unstable which triggers depression. Gears of War on the other hand may be a science- fiction military game, but it has values representing humanity.

Damn I always look for walkthroughs of games on youtube, and never find them. Then I look again months later, and find out they've been up for like a year or something. Happened with this game too. But I am very glad that someone finally put up a video guide to this game. Its awesome.

I just played an 8 bit demake of Silent Hill 2 called "Soundless Mountain 2". I forgot the creator's name, but he entered it into a bootleg game demake contest and won. It was really well done. The only downside was that it only goes up to the very beginning of the apartments. I recommend it to any big Silent Hill fans.
I think you truly appreciate real art. I think this "game" should not be considered a game because it goes far away from just an entertainment system. SH2 is a real masterpiece. Is filled with metaphors and symbols that make the story so interesting and deep that is impossible to get bored with it. The characters have been developed in a fantastic way that their psychological characteristics are showed in a dark way that resembles it's own crimes.
ive watched all of barrutv's silent hill walkthroughs. they're better than horror films to me. this ismy 3rd time watching number two. i cant thank you enuf for posting these mate. silent hill is most poetic, mystical, and addicting, and u played beautifully, good show
Silent Hill games are amazing. They have interesting twists to them, some even a little to frightening to think about. The story lines really make people think and they usually pull your mind into the game. The music, the noises, all terrifying. They also have the ability to get into whoever's playing the games mind and kind of mess with them. In all, an amazing franchise.

I've finally gotten my hands on Silent Hill HD and just beat SH2. It was amazing. I can't believe it took me so long to play this game. I used the original voices because I wanted a much more real experience of the game. I know everyone says that the game is better for the PS2 but this was the one I was able to get my hands on and really loved it. I can't wait to play the 3rd part and buy SH1 on PSN. I'm so hooked right now! SH has a new fan! Awesome game.

Old generation gaming inspired the new generation to follow the same footsteps in their own way depending on what genre is chosen and what ideas match with it to make any game interesting. I played it 14 times, had all the finals...and believe me..is the most amazing game i´ve ever played.The series of Silent Hill are in most of the cases good,but this game Silent hill 2 is the best for me.Play it, never surrender and you´ll be sorprised by the story.Best Regards.
oh no i totally agree with you, and thank you for reminding me about that, hadnt thought about that in a while. but in all the 4 original games we see very little human contact, silent hill 1 mostly has cybil, dahlia, kaufmann, and lisa. SH2, eddie, angela, maria, laura. SH3, Douglas, vincent, Claudia. now in downpour there isnt much either. so thats ok there. but else there is simply to many people in both homecomming, and also shattered memories. and the movie to.

@CaptChadd if you dont like these type of games it doesnt mean that it is "rubbish" this is my favorite game of all time because it is not about shooting,blowing up things it is more focused on puzzles and storyline
Yea, I always used to get stuck too, then I'd give up, but I just love the game so much and would always try and go back to figure it out. You should try again, it would be worth it.
I just love these awesome horror survival, with possibly the most best story lines and everything, but its sad that a few great silent hill creators left, and now silent hill ant as good as it once was like the first 4 games, Silent Hill is not the same anymore
The thing about horror action is, in the movies that do so, you sometimes feel an extra scare, because horror means that some people might actually die, unlike just action movies, but in games... It should be all about the player, and the player knows that if he fails he can try again, therefor the situation doesnt need fast running or that thing where you press buttoms it tells you too, its much better to feel locked up. Like the time pyramid head has you in that room, where to go?

I LOVE all Silent Hill games, 4 is my favorite and 2 is a VERY close second. I'm looking forward to Downpour. People are entitled to their own opinion but most people do not like 4, Origins, Homecoming, and Shattered memories because they're "different." I don't understand people.

Yes, they're gonna redo Silent Hill 1 for the Wii. It will be called Shattered Memories. They removed the rusty, industrial hell and made it an icy, wintry one. Also, you cannot fight anymore, just run from the monsters.

Best Silent Hill in the series in my opinion. Others were good, but this is my all time favorite.

That's why I like the older consoles better. More on actual gameplay & storyline and less on graphics & action. Silent Hill 2, one of my favorites.
Remakes are good, it gives me a chance to play games good old games that are hard to find these days especially ps1 and ps2 games.

silent hill 2 has the best video game music of all time. and not to mention spectacular graphics and gameplay, even for todays standards.

Possibly the best sound effects on a video game! Just listening to the beggining gives me the creeps!
