To many choices were ones I did not know which game they were from... Like you if its to new I have no real clue. Liked your reasoning on each team. I have no clue how'd I do stuff different. GG and great vid.
I'm surprised a mon like Weavile wasn't considered for Hiei's team. It's fast, smug and deadly just like him, as well as the secondary ice type representing Hiei's maternal ancestry.
Kurama - a grass / poison type trainer - the guy summons deadly plants. Kuwabara - a psychic / ghost type trainer due to his high spiritual awareness and precognition abilities to predict future events Hiei - Dark/ Fire/ Ice Type Trainer due to being an ice and fire demon hybrid and his practice of dark demon arts. Yusuke - ghost/ dark type trainer since he can detect ghost and possess demon (dark) energy due to his ancestry. Since Yusuke's essentially a brawler and not a martial artist, I didn't categorize him as a fighting type trainer. Genkai - a ghost / fighting type trainer - she's a martial artist and can detect and see ghost.
hiei comes from ice apparitions but he is not one himself and doesn’t have any ice abilities. hiei is fire / dragon yusuke is fighting becuase spirit gun = Aura Sphere. so fighting / dark (mazoku)
If I had to switch any around, I’d pick trevenant over virizion for Kurama, pangoro over iron valiant for kuwabara, absol over garchomp, urshifu multi strike form over lucario for genkai, and urshifu single strike and/or lucario over Revaroom and/or Urshifu multi strike form. Great video tho! Would love to see more of these
I don't know for to feel about a lot of these picks. They feel a little incongruent with other E4 and don't stick to a type theme. I'd definitely say unless there's some narrarive reason I wouldn't give any of them legendary strength pokemon. Or if you're going to them pull from the same origin. Like each having one ancient paradox Pokemon, or Imprisoned Quartet. As an example, I'd designated their teams as: Kuwabara - Steel 1. Skarmory 2. Excadrill 3. Scizor 4. Empoleon 5. Aegislash* Genkai - Ghost 1. Annihilape 2. Mismagius 3. Gengar 4. Spiritomb 5. Frostlass* Kurama - Grass 1. Liligant H 2. Sawsbuck [Spring] 3. Ferrothorn 4. Meowscarada 5. Rosaraid* Hiei - Fire 1. Tauros P [Blaze] 2. Typhlosion H 3. Houndoom 4. Charizard 5. Ceruledge* Urameshi - Champion 1. Mabosstiff 2. Azumarill 3. Armarouge 4. Scovillain 5. Zoroark H 6. Lucario*
To break these teams down: Kuwabara; Skarmory is his desire to defend his allies, Excadrill his ability to act quickly, Scizor (technician) is his ability to use his weaker abilities to their fullest, Empoleon is his (Defiance) in the face of danger, & Aegislash represents his Spirit Sword. Genkai; Annihilape is her fierce fighting spirit, Mismagius represents her charms despite age, Gengar is her strong spiritual powers, Spiritomb represents her pension for trickery, and Frostlass represents her younger (beautiful) self. Kurama; Lilligant represents the strength he draws from beauty (Victory Dance), Sawsbuck represents how he changed like the seasons and took on a human (normal) form, Ferrothron is his thorny exterior he hides behind, Meowscarada is his devious wit, & Rosaraid is his rose whip. Hiei I chose fire as his type of the ones you listed because it most opposes his sister's ice abilities. For his team; Tauros represents his explosive temper, Typhlosion represents his change as a demon from evil to helpful, Houndoom is his dark past, Charizard is a callback to the dragon flame, & Ceruledge is too him not to be his ace. And finally Urameshi has a special order to his team, as they represent his friends. Mabosstiff (w/intimidate) is his fierce guard dog like behavior for Keiko. Azumaril represents Pu (from when he was an egg) and Boten, with Huge Power to show the incredible strength they lent him. Armarouge is his fiery connection to Hiei, with a tamer aspect. Scovillain reflects his thug like exterior, while connecting to Kurama's growth. Zoroark H is his position as spirit and living, and his tie to Genkai. And finally Lucario most reflects Urameshi as a person, and stands as a proof of his bond to Kuwabara through the shared steel type.
Interesting video. Honestly, I never really thought about an idea like that. I also watched/played Pokemon for a long time, so it's good to be reminded of the series. 😊👍
Love this type of content. Sometimes ya can’t help but look at a character or even a real life figure and picture the perfect team they’d likely have 😅❤
Since you've given them Pokemon if they're in the Pokeverse, I gave them some backstories. But then I realized how long they are, on a creative streak recently, so I'll try to sum up the lore. Also, there is no way am I gonna create my own region on the spot, so let's just say they're from a region close to Kanto. Hiei, Kuwabara, Kurama, and Yusuke met a few years after they started their journey. They all started at 10 so their canon ages will apply here. Genkai was Yusuke's mentor and former Champion of that region, but then he defeated her and became the new Champion. They're now their age from the epilogue and are very famous in their region as the Champion and Elite Four. I have a LOT more lore and ideas for them as trainers, but it's too much to just type in a comment
Oi, I took a crack at something like this once to try and build teams for each jojo protagonist But like you, I didn't know enough Pokémon pack a certain point so it kind of crescendoed into building a team for Gon and killua They're 2 characters that just have the Spirit of Pokémon trainers in their bones They would TOTALLY own some if they could Idk remember the teams or doubt I finished it but I think gon had a Mankey and shiftry at least. What do you think? Also more related to the video, I like how so many of these are the embodiement of that thing on how some pets begin to look like their owners after a certain point It's very funny to imagine some of hiei and kurama's Pokémon idolizing them so much that they're copying their poses when they strike one like their trainers They'd just look really good next to each other And tho while I like kuwabara's team, 0 beef here. I always envisioned most if not all of a kuwabara team to be comprise a really cute soft fluffy Pokémon maybe with some themes of femininity and flowers Both cause the contrast is funny and very kuwabara It's both a reflection of his softer side but also his nurturing, defensive side. Emblematic life and the concept of growth and change itself. Almost a tad maternal I'm glad the kitten line reserves a bit of that headcannon of mine A specific mon never came to mind but I just KNEW he'd have some amount of cute cat Pokémon on his team to some degree
I swear this video was purposely built for my algorithm... Post watch edit: these are just thoughts. This is obviously all personal taste, and I love the video. The algorithm knows what I want. Here are some changes I would personally make... Kuwabara not being a fighting type specialist surprises me. I'd go Galade over Iron Valiant, but thats personal taste, they fit the same thematic role. Also, I'd swap Skarmory for Bastiodon. Skarmory has recovery to support it's bulk and let it stick around longer. Bastiodon is tanky, but it's fake tankiness. It usually kind of just dies. Also, people repurpose Skarmory's fallen feathers to use as swords. I would drop Yusuke's Urshifu, and give him Genkai's Lucario. Give her a Mega Medicham to be her ace, and swap Spectreir for a Froslass. For Kurama, I'd swap one of Zoroark or Delphox for Kantonian Ninetales. It just fits him better IMO. Someone else pointed out Weavile for Hiei. And I was surprised to not see it there. Its fits on so many levels. I'd trade it for Houndoom or Darkrai. I'd also trade Garchomp for Mega Charizard X for thematic purposes. For Yusuke, I'd make the aforementioned Urshifu for Lucario swap. I'd also make it a Mega Lucario for reasons. I'd also trade the engine for Intelleon... finger guns baby.
Yo I guess I'm getting old, I don't recognize any of these Pokemon lmao, aren't there like over 1000 of the damn things now? I recognize Lucario and Gengar so far and I'm at Kurama. I'm only 31 but this is making me feel ancient lmao. I grew up with Pokemon and now it's just completely foreign to me lol. Im fairly familiar with gens 1 and 2, but past that? I could probably recognize a dozen Pokemon between gen 3 and current, and of those dozen name like 2 lmao. Edit. "The Punk Rock Pokemon".!?!? The Pokemon team is just playing mad libs at this point lmao. I'm gonna look up a list of all current Pokemon cause of were at the point where there's a punk rock pokemon, I gotta see what else there is. Punk Rock, keys, ice cream, literal actual garbage, wtf is going on over at the Pokemon company lmao. Good for them though, cause at this point if eyes can be drawn on it it can be a pokemon, so here's to another 1000 of them lol. I was trying to think of some ridiculous kind of Pokemon as a joke to end off with, but every ridiculous thing I can think of is already a real pokemon lmfao.
love the team comps! tho tbh I don't think Toxtricity really fits Yusuke. Toxtricity represents a more 'punk' theme, which doesn't really fit Yusuke's good-for-nothing, almost Bosozoku-like vibe at the beginning of the story. not that he could afford a motorbike lol. but I do have a feeling he might have become a Bosozoku if he had never found out about Youkai and the such, since he's the loser thrill-seeker type who takes it out unhealthily at the beginning of the story. punk fashion, meanwhile, represents freedom, anti-authoritarian, anti-bigotry, and pro general nonconformity and expression of oneself; it's like the opposite of early Yusuke, a healthy, progressive expression of oneself with a distain towards society. Yusuke's loser vibe before his character development where he'd beat up random students and gamble his money away for fun is rather different from that, I feel.
So, haven't started the video yet but I gotta say, that is the kind of title that gets noticed lmao. I don't think I've ever personally thought of YYH and Pokemon in the same sentence, hell even the same article (I hope that makes sense lol), but now I'm beyond curious about where this is gonna go lmao. Or perhaps I should say somewhere past curious. Cause, y'know, your name and all. And completely unrelated aside - anyone else find it kind of weird how normal screen names have become? Like this guy is just Saturn, I know there's a legal name and all but the thought never even crossed my mind until writing this right now. You say you're Saturn and so you are, there's not even a second thought lol. I've never once thought about your real name until typing this all out, and I just find it neat/strange how normal it's become. (And I wanna make it super clear that I'm not trying to get you to say your real name at all, whatsoever. I know personal info is a sensitive subject, so I'm probably just overthinking this all, but just in case I wanted to be 100% clear that I'm just making an observation about online names, I don't want to know anyone's personal info, not even a first name). But now that I'm like halfway through the video and haven't paid attention to a single thing, I think it's time to stop with this over-done pointless comment, rewind the video, and actually watch it lmao. Thanks for the cool content dude, I really like videos like this. Or, one more thing I guess, on the subject of videos like this. I recent found a really really small channel, similar kind of videos but it's mainly about The Legend of Zelda. I'm not a part of this channel at all, I'm not friends with the guy and I have no obligation or agreement to say this at all, just wanna be clear I'm saying this cause I think the channel deserves it - If videos like this, but about Zelda sounds neat, check out Little Bean Green here on TH-cam. He's got 1.3k subs currently, super small and newish channel, but he's pretty active with posting videos so yeah, check it out. Not that anyone's gonna read this stupid comment this far down anyway lmao, but I really do think he deserves a shout-out. Not sure if this is the most appropriate way to do it but hey well hey lol. Sorry for the novel lol, thanks if you actually read all that rambling lol.

GG and great vid.
Karama not having a Ninetails is criminal
kurama
Lol I fought for ninetales but it wouldn't be a great elite 4 mon since it's not that strong compared to others.
I'm surprised a mon like Weavile wasn't considered for Hiei's team. It's fast, smug and deadly just like him, as well as the secondary ice type representing Hiei's maternal ancestry.
It was considered but since they're elite 4 it lost out to stronger mon.
Kurama - a grass / poison type trainer - the guy summons deadly plants.

bro what in the world of fever dream video ideas is this? cant wait to watch lmao
It was so fun to be a part of this video! One of the best Patreon perks!
shiny rayquaza for hei. You know, a black dragon

Hiei - Fire
1. Tauros P [Blaze]
2. Typhlosion H

Urameshi - Champion

Excited about the title plus I know you go in depth in your videos.
Genkai being a Ghost Type specialist feels more like a reference to her looking very similar to Agatha from Gen1 Elite 4.
Interesting video. Honestly, I never really thought about an idea like that. I also watched/played Pokemon for a long time, so it's good to be reminded of the series. 😊👍
Genius video idea. Love your content
Awesome vid and really cool idea to build teams based on the yuyu cast 😭😭 the audio of you vs discord community was also awesome gang!! 👊🏼👊🏼
Awesome video man
Did not know I needed a vid like this lmao
Anyone notice that Genkai (?)’s gengar has hex twice? Great video though
@@spencergoodrich3137 yeah I noticed that too haha. I didn’t want to be the one to point it out tho 😅

Commenting before I even watch to say theres a title I never would have came up with in 1000 years
I impatiently wait for your gold and its always a diamond.
What a bizarre title. It made me laugh and click though so I guess it did its job, well done.

Surprised you didnt have genkai as a physic type
I'd have just given them all Heracross
Considering the steel type was not mandatory, Ceruledge for Kuwabara fits better than Gallade wannabe
The thing fights with spiritual fire blades
i love some good anime ost like jojo's. & yoshihiro togashi sensei is my favorite shonen mangaka solely from his art alone - no joke
Man, I am 5 episodes form the end of the show and now I know how the tournament ends. . .
If you know the YYH so much and only knows pokemon until gen 3, than i am you and you are me
Team toguro next?
Tremendous
Yusuke without a Swablu/ Altaria for Puu?! For shame
Wouldn't altaria be a better representative for puu?
Based and pokepilled

Wtf is this
This Elite Four has too many busted mons
