Fishing Live Bait to Catch Dinner from the Kayak | What Happened to this Fish?!

I take the kayak out to fish a couple pieces of structure, where I throw out bait (both cut and live). Let's see what will bite! I also catch a fish that appears to be otherwise healthy, but has clearly sustained a serious injury in its past. What do think happened to it?

Yeah that would be my guess too but I was wondering if anyone thought/knew differently. Seemed like he was doing pretty well considering!
