I have a regular 028 av electronic ignition. I thought it was going to be underpowered when I first got it, but I kid you not the thing kicks ass, I whooped my dads husky 55 with it.
I need a replacement muffler for my 028 AV Super Wood Boss. Hard to find, do you know where I can get one? Or, is this video about modifying another muffler to work on the 028 Wood Boss, that would be great! What did you do to modify the muffler? I might as well do that before I install a new muffler, if I can find one! haha, thanks!
Does anyone know if u can delete the base gasket on a 028 super with there piston design? Don't want to take mine apart only to find out no. That 028 sounds great!!!
Could someone please tell me what is a good setting for your high, low, and idle screws? I can't seem to get mine dialed in right. It's all stock as far as I know but would like to do a muffler mod to make it exactly like this badass saw.
For the L/H the recommended "starting point" is all the way screwed in (clockwise) and then 1 and 1/4 turns counter clockwise. For the Low Idle screw, you want to turn it until the chain stops spinning and then back it off 1/4 turn. I hope that helps.
they're set with a tachometer, for low set idle at about 3000 rpm then set the low screw so that it runs the best, that means the fastest, then set idle back down to 2200 for the 028, for the high set for max 12500, but set a little lower to 12000 for longevity..

the 028 av. is one of the fastest saws. even without muffler mod she cuts. find a good 036 and muffler mod it 24 inch bar. cut all day
Looks impressive however this is a soft wood.Put the saw in some oar or hardwood and see what happens
how do you perform muffler mod?
Did you hand file that chain? Hell of a job if so

Good video. Saw really bubbles nice at top end. How did you get that? Fuel, timing, port elevation?

And yes folks, this is how the 028 AV Stihl " WoodBoss " will Absolutely work for you if you care about it.
My 028 has a modded muffler and it cuts like that with .325 RSC. Just have to have the carb adjusted right.
SNOX570 regular 028 or super
Nope..no porting on this one. Just a muff mod, a good tune and a Damn Sharp chain! Lol
Where can I'd find muffler mod for My 028? I've searched everywhere
You Should have Showed !!! Us !! The Muffler !!! And Cutting Pine !! Ain't No !!! Oak !!
I wish i had one i just have the regular model
What are you making, beaver cookies?
i have a av 28 boss but it boggs down when cutting oak. i took it to shop to have it adjusted but still boggs down.
Sounds like the saw has a problem with a Restricted; air flow inlet, outlet or top end fuel adjustment.
