Composite video expects a 75 Ohm termination resistance. Since a guitar amp is usually in the 100K and above region, this is forcing much more current out of the pedal than normal. The color is altered by adjusting the phase of the signal relative to the 3.58MHz color burst. I am surprised that a 3.5Mhz signal would get though the a TS at all. It an opamp gain bandwidth product issue, so depends on what opamp is used. Finally a composite signal should be from 0 to 1V (when driving the 75 ohm termination resistance). This example puts both the tube screamer and the TV in 'minor danger' of damage as they are both run out of spec. But most electronics are designed to survive this sort of abuse. @@olinthus The only reason I know composite video is because I made a cortex M0+ based OSD for racing drones years ago. You may be able to get a black and white picture (about 16KHz) out of it if you peg the tone control and set the volume so get a 1V signal (or +- 0.5V). The drive control of a soft clipper would wash out the picture. Marketing is important, it is the one thing that has prevented me from releasing any of my own products. I did some unique pedal review videos on my channel, they never got any traction, but may be a source for ideas. The software I use for the videos is available for free, feel free to use it, its all free exposure to me.
