Olinthus Cicada Overdrive - Synth Sound Samples!
Learn more about Cicada! ► olinthus.com/cicada
Join Charles Etienne and Ethan Tufts as they demonstrate Cicada Overdrive alongside several iconic synths, electronic pianos, drum machines, and more.
We took the world’s most iconic overdrive sounds and stuffed them inside the smallest effects pedal ever created. Cicada may be minuscule, but it has more than enough might to fatten your tones and give new energy to every sound wave you throw at it.
No matter how little space you have, there’s always room for the huge overdriven sounds of Cicada. Its small size allows it to be placed where no pedal has gone before. Running out of room on your pedalboard? No need to kick other pedals off your board-Cicada fits in the smallest open spaces in your rig.

can't believe after getting over the worst case of gas I'm about to get it again
I have a studio board with all the sought after boutique pedals, and I have an analog board to when I'm playing my tube amp. Please don't tell me I'm gonna start making mini boards, my wallet can't take it 😭
should make a whole line/run of mini fx, delay, reverb etc..
I want a fully stocked mini pedal board . Make it so .lol
We're working on it :)
Did I see a silver chassis on the table ..hmm Soon, I hope
There might have been something new lurking in this video 🤔🤔🤔
This is SO cool. I hope you guys make it big (not the pedal, but like... moneywise haha)
The script was amazing!!!
Power supply noise can also vary depending on how the pedals are connected. Daisy-chained analog pedals can become noisy when connected to a switched-mode power supply. Digital pedals - in my experience- need either separate power supplies or an isolated supply to prevent noise coupling from pedal to pedal.
You guys rock.
Love it ! I live in Australia & can't wait for it to hit our shore. Also a tiny pedal board for plane travel would be fabulous.
This is a great video! I wish I had seen it a year ago when I was covering my THT guitar pedal to SMD and I was working on power supply filtering. I went through similar tests and experiments using various linear, switch mode (I also used a True Tone since it's so popular) and my "fancy" option was the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2. This makes me feel a little more sane knowing that I'm not the only one who cares this much about noise. 😄
we want more!
otodelのtiny od のほうが多分小さいぜ
Love the ts7!
where do i buy it
It can be found at olinthus.com/cicada :)
It's my "always on" pedal.
Its been done. Go check out the "micro effect" series released by Guyatone long ago.
cool!! love the packaging and sustainability focus too - one suggestion on that front would be to move away from using AI generated images on your website, that tech is contributing to a lot of pollution and carbon emissions so hiring some artists to draw some art for you to replace those files + use for future products/pages would help you do even more for sustainability and also support artists :)
Hi there! Thanks! Yes we have a couple old pages that still have some AI art up there, have been meaning to swap it out with some real art. Thanks for the feedback!! :)
Okay, but there is no info on connecting, how do I connect it to my guitar? Does your TRRS plug has 6.35cm jack?
Hi! Cicada comes with a TRRS breakout cable which provides 1/4" input, 1/4" output, and a jack for 9V power. Lots more info here: th-cam.com/video/__hPjLUC8Mg/w-d-xo.html
Very cool
Will these tiny pedals work with eurorack synth?
Nevermind.your video just answered my question.awesome product guys.
essential gear =).
cool
Thats really cool.
I'm just going to go ahead and say it...... we need a tiny RAT!!!
Wanna see a noisegate in this kind of form
Is bass too much for this thing? I would love to put it on my board!
Works great with bass!!!
I have a beat up one that my father bought me new back in 96, I used it to death. Bought a mint one for 20 dollars 2 years ago, then the rare pedal one year ago. I play inn a cover band, and I do all the rehearsing at home on this thing. The aux in makes it perfect. Not until recently the business has caught up with the katana etc. Its brilliant.
6:44 That's basically the Mk.gee sound everyone's looking for!
I own this im going to revisit this!! ❤
I’m ordering one when I get paid on Friday with earring adapters. I also love the sustainable packaging. Excited to see what else y’all create!!
Literally first thing I did this morning. So excited for it to show up!
I have my doubt that this thing will take off!!
Fuzz, immediately at once!
Sooooooon!!!!
Tiny eq pedal please!!!!!
The question now: Will it bass?
We've used it with bass!!
Why don't ALL pedals use TRRS?!? You'd only need one cable coming out and you could stuff all the excess under the board like you do here.
This really is very small
Is this a money making venture or do you folks just have extra time and money?
Ex-Strymon guys from what I've heard/seen.
We do hope to turn this into a sustainable business. Lots of other products in the pipeline :) :)
@@olinthus well best of luck and best wishes from me
I heard Joe Walsh, boost, Lofi, to name a few
I like how you named the different tones that you were getting and I think I’m gonna do that for myself and name my tones.
Did I need one? No. did I just order one anyway? Absolutely 😂
Thanks so much for your order!! :) :) :)
Nice pedal and video!
PEDALBOARD PLZ!!!!!
Working on it!! :) :) :)
Stupid
Jesus, and Jimmy Page, wept. This is the least rock and roll thing anyone has ever done, and the polar opposite of playing a live gig to entertain people and/or be something vaguely adjacent to a musician. Not every single thing in the world has to be ironic, cowardly, standoffish, wink-and-nod. Both of you nerds need to swig a full bottle of Captain Morgan and play Boston covers at some third-rate summer festival to an actual crowd until the stain of this entire episode is washed from you and you are once again ready to face the world without the crutch of irony. P.S. It sounds like a Chinese Bad Monkey.
i can't wait to get the reverb!!!
sounds pretty nice
<3
I'd like to see a tiny wah or synth or bitcrusher pedal which accepts a 3.5mm TRS input for a very tiny expression pedal, or even better yet, a Gonkulator (ring modulation).
Interesting… I would to help demonstrate them at live gigs
