Great video. If you input the radio's coordinates in the Settings Tab - Location, the distance between the two will give an accurate figure. This will also activate the Map and Fresnel buttons on your Dashboard page.
Awesome video, very much appreciate your skills! So does one of the two have to be connected to a wired connection? Is there any of these type systems that will just work directly from a wireless network? For instance, right now I only have a starlink router without the dongle.
unfortunaty i do not know of a way to connect it wirelessly, one option is to have something like eero that has wireless bridge capabilities and have one of the nanostations come off of that(if that makes sense sorry not the best explination)
Fantastic. I’d be keen to know why you don’t use dynamic IP in the Network Management Settings. And why even after naming the SSID they still transmit a much longer name.
If you use a dynamic ip it is harder to find it later, there are advantages but setting it static makes trouble shooting esier at a later date, and im not sure about the name part, usually they only transmit what I have named them, maybe I we are looking at something differant
Excellent video. My ISP increased my speed necessitating an upgrade from my Nanostation M5 receiver fed by a Powerbeam M5 400 that uses DHCP. I will use your receiver setup except for not using static address. Would you critique and provide any suggestions for ensuring connectivity?
Question... I see other NanoStation setup videos requiring you to use UISP (Ubiquiti Cloud) and yours does not. Are there any reasons why one would want to go with UISP? I'm ok with using local setup if there is no advantage other than remote management from the cloud. BTW I just did a bench test using two of these AC Locos and your video was easy to follow. Very helpful and straight to the point. Firmware updates were simple as well. Will be moving them outside for final installation tomorrow. Have liked and subscribed!! 👍
Hi, thanks for the video. Followed your instructions and got everything set up as you showed. Couldn’t connect to the nanostations with my Surface Pro but then used a Mac Pro and got both stations configured. Only issue I am having is when I connect my ‘AP’ to the internet through my switch I can no longer see both connected. The only thing I configured differently to what you demonstrated was the IP Gateway. I have a GL X3000 sim router for my internet and that has an IP of 192.168.8.1 so I used that. Was that the correct IP to use?
Great video. I wish you could do one on the same radios but showing how to use the survey tool to see the other local radios and then reprogram the operating frequency. If you change the AP freq does it automatically program the station side or do you have to log into both to do so. I have 2 of these set up as a bridge approx. 200' apart and they drop out for a few minuets 3-4 times a day. I do know the area where I have them has a lot of other wireless stuff on the same property like 5 acer area in the city. I have looked for a lot of videos and have not really seen to many people troubleshooting on the propagation side of things.
I will try and make some time soon to do a video on that portion, you do have to manually change both sides but if you do the station side first then the ap side sometimes you get lucky and can do them both but otherwise you are walking around physically plugging in
@@preciselyguessingThank you I figured so. Your video was really clear and comprehensive to me good job on the presentation. I will tag you for notification. Thanks again.
we are trying to connect one to an omni and then bounce the signal from the omni to another antenna but can’t get the last antenna to connect to the other one
I have connected 5 AC-500 between together resistance may be 5 km and they give me only less speed this speed maximum between 16 at 30 I have a problem with something exactly what's the problem of that but if you help m. I will thanks you about that
So, I apparently entered my user name or password wrong on the second unit and can't connect. Is there any to do a hard reset on the second unit, or anyother way to access it? Great video!
No if you have it wrong you have to reset it, it's fairly simple and nothing to worry about, there is a small reset button on the bottom, use a pin and you will press it, remove power, press the button, while holding button re-insert power, hold button for 10 more seconds, leave plugged in, repeat untill it resets, might time a minit or so to boot up after reset
what you are referring to in an access point, these serve a different purpose, these are not for broadcasting wifi so to speak but to transfer data from one location to another
My PC reads "not connected" under the ethernet settings. Could that be an IP issue? The port on my pc works fine with my other devices. I can pick up the wireless signal of the Loco, did the setup as per video but the SSID doesn't change it stays are device name/model number. I've reset the devices twice already but the Ethernet still reads "Not Connected"
Yes, it's possible that the ac picked up a differant ip already, try defaulting the nano station and then don't connect it to network untill you have found it, or hop on the wireless and find what ip it chose and put your computer on the same ip scheme
I've got the two devices connected to one another. But I'm confused what to do next? When i take the sexond unit, thats not plugged into the router, to my second home, how do i get the wifi going? Do i need to connect the second ac5 to a switch or access point?
Yes, you will need to have the transmit side connected to your router/modem and the receiving side will need to connect to an access point, they do not put out wifi on their own that you can just connect to from, if there is only one wired device it could be run straight off of the nano otherwise a switch is needed
hi your video is helpful but need to ask something, i do have one local station ac configured as an AP associated to the stations but when it 8 pm it disconnect what might be the problem and can i do by then to solve the issue
Could be that something is sharing the frequency and at that time it knocks it out, try changing the frequency so something on the other end of the spectrum
is there a way to use an NS5AC as a bridge client on an existing wifi network where there is no other Unifi hardware? I am trying to pick up from my house wifi and bridge over to my shops wired Network.
You do not need an existing ubiquity network to use them for instance you can have a netgear router on your house, run the nanostation off the netgear, bridge to the shop, have a seperate netgear router in the shop that is run by the nanostation
@@preciselyguessing I have been through and through the settings, it shows every WAP in the list as not compatable. I found several things showing it will only connect as a client to a compatable AP that uses airMAX AC... I am now trying to flush out the Ubiqity FW and put in OpenWrt or DD-WRT. If those dont work then to the bin with this thing.
@justsumdad3185 sorry you are having so much trouble, a little confused why it's not working, I have in the past had them have trouble connecting to eachother and all of the problems were steming from that, I have only ever set these up as a client from the cloud controller 1 time, every other time have been on a system with no other ubiquity gear, let me know what your end result is

you are a lifesaver. i've been stuck on these things for a month and your tutorial has been the only one that has made sense and been easy to follow.
Thanks so much for this to the point tutorial. I had been unsuccessful until watching your video.
Thank you for the tutorial. I was able to get mine set up!
Your video is a life saver. Would be cool to see the setup tutorial but with the iOS app only.
I dont have any apple products but I will see what I can do, have a few more videos planned for these things

Is it possibile to connect them just like p2p, without setting one as access mode ? I don't want other devices can connect to first antenna.
I believe one of them has to be set as an access point

For a short distance of about 65ft with clear line of sight, are these better than 2X UAP-AC-M ? Thank you

Only thing I can think of is the ip settings arnt quite right possibly have the wrong gateway ip or subnet and itsnt allowing for proper cominication
Is this Omnidirectional or directionnal?
how much is the range in miles or kilometers?
Someone once told me 8 miles but I dont think they would really go that far, the longest one I have put in was 2 miles and it did okay
