id love to see a serious in-dept session on how to "optimize" the radios when connecting these in a P2MP LAP-120 to Multiple NS-5ACL from different angles. A how to tweak VID
I have a customer with one NSAC and NS5AC Locos. The longest one is about 4KM and they work really well. They have been up about 1 year. I have not had to touch them since I put them in. There is a speed hit because the NS5 is the AP so only one station can be talking to it at a time. So when you have 2 station talking at once you will see the speed at each site go to about half. If you have station to station talking they have to go through the main unit, so expect about 1/4 speed. It has been more than sufficient for my customer with about 50 workstations and IP phones throughout all the sites. I personally am running two NSM5 Locos between house and garage and I have a NS5 i dug out of storage from 2009 on my shed. I had to drop the Airmax on my NSM5 and go to 20Mhz channel spacing so the older NS5 will connect to the NSM5. So I have 144Mbps between the M5's and 54Mpbs to the NS5 at the shed. It is still fast enough for all that I do.
The vlan section lost me - although I seemed to be able to do the connection fine without. I would think the most common use of 2 nano locos would be to wirelessly connect them to provide a new hard wired access point. this video helped me get to this point - although with some extras that could be separately addressed (vpn and firmware upgrades - which are different extremes of knowledge scale). Thanks for the vid.
Just set both to 20mhz so you don't have any weird issues, I found mine would not connect until I set the access point mptp (your MAIN station) to 20mhz AFTER the I had configured the station ptp and i had selected the MAIN station so it was properly configured but would not transmit data. From factory default settings I had this issue so it must be common.
Thank you for the video. I‘ve learned alot from your content and am about to deploy my first complex network installation for a multilevel venue in Bali. Just the other idea I was thinking about these point to point APs and was wondering if it would be okey to use them in an elevator shaft to connect a bridge for a CCTV cam inside the elevator. Would that work? The building only has 3 floors so it‘s not a long distance.
I'm currently learning about networking and watched this video twice. I paused it a few times to look up some of the terms and acronyms just to be sure I was following along correctly. I realize the video is almost 19 minutes long but, it's really not a good resource for novice "networkers". You clearly know what you are doing but, all of your instruction seems to be for other people that pretty much know what they are doing too. I guess I'm just a bit confused who your target audience is. You skip over way too much for a novice and I feel that someone with networking experience should already know everything you're talking about. Even though I'm not using a home server or switch, your video is still the best one that I've watched and helped me the most with setting up this system.
Hello, we are looking for a AP or Wifi client device that could work in a bridge mode but not with directional antenna but 360 degree. The point of that is to make a mobile working table (on wheels) with PC, printer and some other devices. Could you suggest something from Unifi or Ubiquiti ?
I seem to be having a problem connecting I have a clear shot between these but there are several trees pretty close would there be interference from them it’s only 75apart tops 100 feet
Willy what would you recommend for uk use just looking for a cheap hotspot that will allow free hotspot for 10 minutes every day some one that person then they have the payed version that will give them more use
I m from a Brazil and I need help .. I m using 2 loco AC and looks like everything is working well . All ports are GIGA but my internet is 200M and maximum I got in this bridge is 100M .. do we have option to change 10/100/1000 Ethernet ? Looks like I have a block ...tks
This was great. Im still stuck though and i cannot figure out why! :( I have Loco 1 (AP) plugged into Nanoswitch N-SW, and Loco 2 (Remote) plugged into Flex switch for distribution of CCTV and AP Lite. There is no data feed FROM remote linked devices to UDM Pro :(?????
@@WillieHowe Im convinced the Loco set as AP is struggling with Nanoswitch N-SW !? into Port 7 of UDM Pro. Again, Both LOCOS talk to each other, but do not transmit data from 2nd (Remote) LOCO to UDM
I want to ask. my ubiquiti is nanostation loco type Ac 5ghz, I've tried changing the SSID name but it can't. and the SSID name remains the default and another one sometimes lost the SSID
Go into your router and reserve that .20 ip and the MAC for the nanostation. This should help your router to keep it on the device and route correctly.
You can use any switch. I'm not sure why he keeps saying edge switch?? It's easier to use a POE switch so you don't need a separate POE insertion device.
This does not work. My Interface does not even look close to youre ... there is not Options other than Accesspoint and Router. There is soooo much different it does not even seem like the same item. Mine is definated a nanostation AC loco running firmware 8.7.1
As I understand it, if you have more than one end point, it’s suggested to use a base station to talk to multiple cpe managed/optimized thru unms. Instead of 3 nanostations you would use one base station such as a rocket with a 360 (or sector) antenna to send to your 2+ nano stations. Anyone jump in where I’m wrong.
Hi. I would like to connect this loco wireless to my ap ac lite to get network and forward the network via utp to a switch. Is it possible? Which setup I have to choose? Thanks!
Hi sir, Do you have a video tutorial of Implementing VLAN in EdgeSwitch? By the way, I love this tutorial and the way you share your knowledge to others. Hail to you sir. God bless you always..
Thank you. Configuration sorted. Mine stopped working after a year - a factory reset and following this guide did the trick. 👏

These are my fav right now .. jus remember guys it doesn't ship with the Poe injector
So what POE injectors would be needed?
They come with them now

Great video. I thought the new units had to be configured through the app, didn't realize you could just do them from a browser.
very basic question: on the receiver side, do I have to plug in a router/AP? Or can it by itself generate a SSID to people can connect to?
Once configured using this method, is it then possible to adopt them into my locally hosted UNMS controller?
Exactly what I'm looking for, also wanted to know if the Bullet M5 can also be adopted to the UNMS controller.
Just saw the UNMS Icon on the top right corner, so it should be possible.
Nice tutorial, thanks! Is it possible to setup 3 units, 1 as server and 2 as clients?
Yes just turn the AP into PTMP mode and copy settings for each station
Would love to watch someone set this up using the app, as Ubiquiti says it's the "easiest" way.
How does the non loco version compare to the smaller loco ones? Need about 500Mbps instead of 300mbps

Agree
Why are they not made 48 V DC, af another words. Old version of Loco worked for 10 years. Best link equipment ever!

No.
I have a ubiquiti us-16-150w, will it power these?
yep they only draw 7watts max

You should update this video showing this with the new firmware. This is a little old. Some things have changed.

is it different for uk to u.s as am on the same version but wireless mode options are totally different to the ones i have on the same firmware.
UK and US will have different wireless regulations.
@WillieHowe understand that. but naming ptp and access point with station and the other settings is strange. Great video BTW
Anytime I change the IP of the management address I can no longer connect to it. It's driving me nuts.
hi can Nanostation 5AC (as AP mode) can be hosted and accept connection of non ubiquiti productS???
No.

Will it still work if I am in an area that is windy?
As long as the device isn't swaying too bad you'll probably be good.
mine wont connect to the unit, how do you get it to connect?
Can the Nanostation AC Loco be used to set up a PTMP?

What PoE injectors would work best for these?
24V, some kits come with them.
You did not lock the Mac add. Why please explain. I do installations but always lock
He explained why
Please do favor for us and upload the firmware for loco M5 AC on link and comment with it here 🙏
Thank you for your nice video. Can I use this as a Router ?
Come on Willie, what's the story with VLANs? Spanning tree would kick in to prevent a loop.
Good Stuff Willie thx
Hi. I would like to connect this loco wireless to my ap ac lite to get network and forward the network via utp to a switch. Is it possible? Which setup I have to choose? Thanks!
Yep, it's simple
Can it connect to ethernet switch on the other side?
Yes
So who got the shirt?
Hi sir, Do you have a video tutorial of Implementing VLAN in EdgeSwitch? By the way, I love this tutorial and the way you share your knowledge to others. Hail to you sir. God bless you always..
Learned the hard way the 5ac locos can't connect to non airmax devices. So don't bother trying to use just one on its own.
Thanks in advance
At about 4 minutes in you go to the screen I cannot get to. So that's that I guess.
