I tried that too. I tried not going to the grace first. I haven't tried not talking to him and just going to the mariner. I thought he was still in the distance when his summon sign appeared.

I just know about the Liurnia Mariner summon sign and the Black Assassin one
There are four that I have seen all Mariner and one in a dungeon
