My wife and I had such a good time playing "It Takes Two". We understood why the parents thought that killing Cutie was the answer, but we cringed at how wrong we knew they were. None of the story bits ruined our experience and we were very satisfied once we finished.
Untitled Goose Game is one of the most underrated co-op games I’ve played in years. The side scrolling beat em ups largely have been very reliable lately.
Imagine Activison making a Call of Duty where the campaign is literally co-op. Just imagine the copies it will sell. It's that simple and that effective. All they have to do is that. Not realistic graphics, not a battle pass, not multiple connected game servers. Just a good old fashioned engaging over the top story with CO-OP!!!
Except they’re money hungry and they know they don’t need to put in the extra work to make money as people will buy them anyway, pay for the battlepass and now the black cell thing will always be there because it’s another way the players keep giving them money
Shredder's Revenge also gets points for having one of the best soundtracks for a beaten up! The final boss levels are off the chain! Now who do we talk to about another X-Men game?
I wanna throw out a couple. Killing Floor 1 and 2 are great. Resident Evil 5 and Dead Space 3 coop are imo the way to play these games, even if they are considered lesser in their series, it is just so much fun on top of getting more from the games. Many of the Ghost Recon games, I'd pick Future Soldier, Wildlands, and Breakpoint(after all the patches) are also great coop games if you can get 2-4 people together. Also Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is also another great coop game. Edit: HOW COULD I FORGET EARTH DEFENSE FORCE. You want blow away giant insects mindlessly, there is not better game
The fact you guys mentioned Zombies Ate My Neighbors, an ALL-TIME classic in my book , rocked it as a kid on SNES and recently beat it a few months ago on PS5 , you guys when the day for that alone!
I played zombies ate my neighbours with my sister growing up and I feel like the game deserves a remaster and should get way more love than it has gotten over the years!!
Me and my gf have been playing so much stardew valley, it’s such a fun game to just unwind and chill out with. She likes cozy games and it has a good progression system so I have a lot of fun too. Honestly one of the best co-op games I’ve ever played
Me and my family LOVED playing the X-Men Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance games growing up. Was always a blast to get to pick our favorite characters to play as and work together to beat iconic villains. Though the cameras were a little janky at times, it was nice to be able to all play on 1 screen vs having to deal with a splitscreen. Similar game that was kind of a sleeper hit was Shrek 2. Similar co-op topdown brawler (less emphasis on the RPG stat aspects) but a ton of fun.
Appreciate the shout-out to Splinter Cell CT. That co-op campaign was tons of fun, designed from the ground up as a separate campaign too. I remember performing the co-op moves, sneaking around, defusing bombs and goofing around with the NPC's with a buddy. As for L4D, it's the 8 player Versus mode that did it for me. It combined all the joys of co-op with versus multiplayer and with a great group of people and cross-speak on it could be absolutely hilarious. Ah, good times :')
Overwatch in an AC130 is what overwatch actually is, in military terms. It's basically long range support from elevation, it's often snipers, though it's also fairly common for helicopter gunships or drones to provide overwatch.
@@caseywrable yes! It will pop up if you TH-cam splinter cell chaos theory multiplayer. You’ll find recent videos of people playing and they explain how to on there. Don’t need a great pc to run it either
I had absolutely no idea that Evil West was co-op. Thanks for letting me know. Two things though; even when I am not a big fan, I don't feel like the Borderlands saga should be a bonus... It should at least be top 5, considering how long the campaigns are, how many people you can play with and how the progress works in co-op. Also, Dying Light, which is at least better than the Far Cry games in terms of co-op (better progression, more people and just overall better game), and it is not even a bonus mention :(.
No one ever talks about Strange Brigade!!! I’m so happy you guys did. It deserves more love. I love that game. It’s my favorite “play to play something” that and Hitman lol.
Destroy all humans 2! Also, absolutely a blast, Stubbs the zombie These will have you cracking up in 2 player, pretty much the whole time you're playing them
I'll second Stardew Valley. One of my all-time favorite games, although I've yet to try co-op. The Lego games are all couch co-op (except the Wii U version of Undercover). Overcooked All You Can Eat includes the first 2 games + DLC and those are pretty hectic and fun. Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon has a VS mode.
You mentioned TMNT Shredder's Revenge is 4 player co-op, it's actually 6. It literally shows this on the screen when you say it. I'm guessing the editor knew and just showed it on screen. Also, The PC/Steam version of Lost Planet 2 is still playable online, but sadly, you can't buy the game from Steam anymore thanks to Capcom pulling it down. You can still play it online, but be prepared to install Games for Windows Live (GFWL) on Windows 11. It took me a few tries, but I got it working. It's hard to find other players and when you do, there's no drop in/drop out. You must have everyone join at the lobby before starting. Given how old the game is, it not being sold currently and the GFWL mandatory install, the player population is super low. I also had to download a modified DLL to even get the game working correctly under Windows 11. Still, when it does work, it even supports Windows 11 AutoHDR and it looks really good. See clips on my channel.
@@Shakshuka69 It would have been a good mechanic if the game wasn't so damn easy. There was no need to change ammo or use whatever tactics because the AI is so dumb.
I remember getting Strange Brigade for free when I bought a new graphics card for my Pc and I was pleasantly surprised with how much fun it was. The Transatlantic accent of the narrator and the heavily alliterated phrasing or mission names was just wonderful.
I'd put in the list Magicka 2, Duck Game, Trine 4, Army of Two, Diablo III (finished the game with max level of character with a friend in harder and harder difficulty modes), Crash B. MOM and Crash of the Titans, Gradius III (debatable) A LOT OF RACING GAMES, like Top Gear Series or Horizon Chase Turbo... Anyways, there are tons of really good games... finally, for me, It Takes Two is easiest #1, and I found the story pretty cute, I don't know why anyone wouldn't love it!
Happy to see Left 4 Dead 2 at #2. The Grandfather of FPS Survival Horror games. So many great memories I will forever cherish when it was at it's peak. You really had to be there😢😪 I highly recommend to anyone that has not played it before. The purest gaming experience of its genre. No gimmicks, just pure fun and if you're on PC, like Falcon said, it's got a TON of custom content that basically keeps the game thriving.
Great selection. Here a few more: Outriders - Zombie Army trilogy and ZA4 - World War Z - Shadow Warrior 2 - Back 4 Blood - Sniper Elite 3, 4 and 5 - The forest - Sons of the forest. You can do a Second Video!!
One that i personaly can sugest to anyone wanting a chaotic fun time is Snowruner Co-Op. Geting stuck in mud or snow and having your friend try to help you just to get stuck aswel is the most laugh you can have.
The memories I have of my brother and I playing Army of Two are among my favorite gaming memories ever. Immediately thought of that game when it came to best co op campaigns
One more thing about Strange Brigade. This games just runs very well on most pcs. It scales well in graphics settings and on different hardware. We are use to games having small problems like a little stutter here and there. But Strange Brigade just runs very smooth. It runs so well that most people probably don't even think about it, I truly would love if every game ran this well. Sadly not many people have played this game. Even I think I should have played it more, but there are just so many games.
The Monster Hunter series has the best Co-op and has gotten much better over the years going way back to 2004 on the Ps2. MH Tri was when I got my first multiplayer experiance as my home never had the internet back in the ps2's day. MH World/Iceborne became the series in which my family and friends would play with me of which made me so happy! Finally getting the people I care about the most to play a game I love was the best and now they are all looking forward to MH Wilds! : D
It smells to me like this video needs a Part II follow-up! I think you forgot to mention Darksiders Genesis. I had a blast playing that game in coop. And Forced, and THE best coop I have played has been Nine Parchments. You get to combine spells top-down and every playthrough is different depending on what spells you pick up.

I wonder how many of this games will be COUCH CO-OP
what u mean will be? these are not upcoming games...
@@Kuryux i mean on the list, how many of them are actually couch coop and not online. To my surprise the list is quite even
Holy I did not expect lost planet 2 mention. What a nostalgia throwback
Army of Two, Darksiders Genesis and Splinter Cell Conviction's Deniable Ops mode are some of the best.
Nice! Are they your top 3?
@@gameranxTV No but they deserve some recognition
Timesplitters series should at least have been mentioned in the bonus section.
Hell Divers 2 has been one of the best co op games I've played since Left for Dead 2. So much fun.
World at War
@@Corvoattano13 dude it released more than a decade back. Call of Duty was doing really good back then. Am talking about now.
Except they’re money hungry and they know they don’t need to put in the extra work to make money as people will buy them anyway, pay for the battlepass and now the black cell thing will always be there because it’s another way the players keep giving them money
@@ItsJustRuru they are up and running because of all the whales out there.
This literally exists. lol
the Battlefield 3 Co-op campaign is also really really underrated
Agreed!
Killing floor 2 is a blast
The fact you guys mentioned Zombies Ate My Neighbors, an ALL-TIME classic in my book , rocked it as a kid on SNES and recently beat it a few months ago on PS5 , you guys when the day for that alone!
I played zombies ate my neighbours with my sister growing up and I feel like the game deserves a remaster and should get way more love than it has gotten over the years!!
Remnant II reminds me of those weird PS1 and PS2 AA titles that you’d find in a discount bin and then end up having it be one of your favorites
dead space 3 in coop is a total other experience :)
My absolute favorite of the dead spaces.
I'm surprised castle crashers wasn't mentioned. Such a gem of a game
Gears of War co op is on another level. Spent weeks playing those games with buddies
Me and my gf have been playing so much stardew valley, it’s such a fun game to just unwind and chill out with. She likes cozy games and it has a good progression system so I have a lot of fun too. Honestly one of the best co-op games I’ve ever played
My buddy and i are currently doing a full LASO run of the master chief collection and holy hell we've been stuck on Halo 2 for months now
The best thing about LFD2 is the drop in-drop out mechanic with ever adjusting difficulty depending on players/skills. It always feels 'just right'
We do love us some LFD2
Army of 2?!
I was looking up coop games and this released. They can see me
Love you gameranx ❤️
I am currently loving Baldurs Gate 3 with my mrs. Co op done well. I am a big fan of local co op.
Resident evil 5 deserves to be in the list of best co-op campaigns
Solid choice! We should probably come back with a part 2.
It Takes Two was my wife's introduction to video games and we really enjoyed it!
I enjoyed playing Metal Slug with friends back in the day
Army of Two is still a game series I will look back on fondly. First two were so much fun
I miss couch co op games
Gears is obviously one of the best. But lets not forget Army of Two. That first one was great back in the day
The splinter cell PVP was cool. And of course, the L4D games were great coop fun.
Spies vs mercs was so good. People still play online
@@Wetterwet they do? I didn’t know that.
@@caseywrable yes! It will pop up if you TH-cam splinter cell chaos theory multiplayer. You’ll find recent videos of people playing and they explain how to on there. Don’t need a great pc to run it either
Halo, L4D, Army of 2 and TimeSplitters franchise were my fave co-ops.
I’m really hoping space marine 2 has a fin multi player and co-op campaign, also will you be doing a before you buy on that? Thanks
The Division was amazing coop. I have so many hours in Division 1&2 and almost all were playing coop with my buddy!! Great times
Nice! Any co-op games you’re going through now or is there something you’re keeping tabs on for this second half of the year?
I had absolutely no idea that Evil West was co-op. Thanks for letting me know. Two things though; even when I am not a big fan, I don't feel like the Borderlands saga should be a bonus... It should at least be top 5, considering how long the campaigns are, how many people you can play with and how the progress works in co-op. Also, Dying Light, which is at least better than the Far Cry games in terms of co-op (better progression, more people and just overall better game), and it is not even a bonus mention :(.
im pretty all of the borderlands games are splitscreen as well
Evil West is coop but just 2 players sadly, what a great game.
No one ever talks about Strange Brigade!!! I’m so happy you guys did. It deserves more love. I love that game. It’s my favorite “play to play something” that and Hitman lol.
Can you talk about couch split screen games?feels kinda dry in that area to me…
Will do.
For me, ratchet and clank: all for one, and the little big planet series has to be up there. I have so many memories of playing them with my siblings.
Ratchet: Deadlocked was a coop classic too🔥
Love that y’all continue making great content. I’ve been subbed for years.
Thank you!
The "Army of two" & the "mercenaries" series were my top coop games other then the aforementioned 2009 COD & gears ofcourse, growing up.
No Timesplitters? Or Timesplitters 2? Or even Timesplitters Future Perfect?
Hmm should we come back with a part 2? Lot of great games we could feature on another video.
Next video top 10 couch co-op games like 2 controllers in the same living room
I must be tired since my first thought at reading the title was wondering just how many chicken games are out there and why hadn't I heard of them?
I'd like to see that video lol
@@timotheninja Makes me think of that Fable game with the chicken in the intro
Destroy all humans 2!
Also, absolutely a blast,
Stubbs the zombie
These will have you cracking up in 2 player, pretty much the whole time you're playing them
Love this list, but I feel like Borderlands 2 should be on here as well.
Yeah, i can't believe Borderlands didn't make the main list
I'm going to play the game again just to do this segment.
Borderlands 1 is kinda boring tho. 2 was clearly the best. 3 was just, more of one.
And even then 2 isn't anything to write home about.
I legit thought it was #1 by the time I got to #2
@@brogamin179 what the fuck even is your comment
I’m suprised The Warriors didn’t make the list. I loved playing this with friends back inna day and the campaign seemed like it was made for co op
need couch co op for my gf and i, we did it takes two, sackboy, waiting for cult of lamb multi update
Did you try Stardew Valley?
The fact you remembered Divinity, but forgot Baldurs Gate 3, which is way better, is crazy!
Baldurs Gate 3 should be 1st on the list
I don't know how you missed army of 2... so much fun coop
Secret of Mana was the 1st co-op game i can remember, it's old but it's such a good game.
Uncharted 2 & 3 co-op story missions were my favorite aspects of the multiplayer.
Farcry 6 was a massive disappointment
The specialized ammo system where different enemies require different ammo was beyond dumb and I hope to never see it again
Honestly, what did you expect? Have you seen a positive trend somewhere in that series as time has gone on?
Can't be that disappointing when you know going in it's gonna be the same thing.
@@jthornton4460 Or anything from Ubisoft in recent years?
@@Shakshuka69 It would have been a good mechanic if the game wasn't so damn easy. There was no need to change ammo or use whatever tactics because the AI is so dumb.
I remember getting Strange Brigade for free when I bought a new graphics card for my Pc and I was pleasantly surprised with how much fun it was. The Transatlantic accent of the narrator and the heavily alliterated phrasing or mission names was just wonderful.
No dying light?? 🗿
This guy just called Connect-4, Tic-Tac-Toe. Unwatchable!
If you think about it, connect 4 is just tic tac toe with an extra piece
Happy to see Left 4 Dead 2 at #2. The Grandfather of FPS Survival Horror games. So many great memories I will forever cherish when it was at it's peak. You really had to be there😢😪 I highly recommend to anyone that has not played it before. The purest gaming experience of its genre. No gimmicks, just pure fun and if you're on PC, like Falcon said, it's got a TON of custom content that basically keeps the game thriving.
I used to love playing the co-op missions in the original Warface.. they were amazing
Nice! Have you tried out any of the games on our list? Might find something worth checking out :)
Zombies Ate My Neighbors! That was my favorite game as a kid!
It smells to me like this video needs a Part II follow-up! Lots of missed co-op games that weren't menitoned:
*Any Mario Kart* or perhaps, even better; *Mario Kart: Double Dash*
*Any Mario Party*
*Army of Two*
*Castle Crashers*
*Dead Space 3*
*Gang Beasts*
*Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes*
*Resident Evil 5*
*Shrek 2: The Video Game*
*Super Mario Galaxy*
*Switch Sports* and/or *Wii Sports*
I think you forgot to mention Darksiders Genesis. I had a blast playing that game in coop. And Forced, and THE best coop I have played has been Nine Parchments. You get to combine spells top-down and every playthrough is different depending on what spells you pick up.
