The two wheeled thing is actually pretty useful in mcla (the last one) since the weight transfer is almost instant and it really helps to make sharper corners
The cars on the box are owned by a guy I know from the import car scene here in the dmv and his brother. My pops had a big turbo e36 bmw in the early 2000s so I got to experience alot of car shows and street races from that era.
I love the Midnight Club games, even if the games have led to me breaking a controller or two. Im glad you enjoyed MC2, my dad loved that one when he was younger.
Congratulations for hitting 20k subs from a fellow brazilian! I played a lot of Midnight Club 3 back in the PS2 days and it's one of my favorite games. Last year I decided to replay a lot of the racing games I used to play as a kid, so I also ended up playing some that I had never played and/or finished before as well. To be fair, I played the first minutes of Midnight Club 2 back in the day, but my pc wasn't powerful enough for the game, so I gave up on it. I have to say that playing the game last year was definetly challenging, perhaps one of the most difficult games that I ever got to 100%. I feel you about the frustation, I had to play a couple of races for several days until I finally managed to win, but in overall I would say that I had a lot of fun and it was definetly worth it.
ah, every time I see anything MC2 related, I always look forward to them talking about Savo's unordered paris race... I kid you not, I got stuck on that Race for *literal Years*, but after the game forced me to get good over time, it's outrageous to say that I can now beat that race with handicaps. MC2 just hits different(and also really hard)
The cool thing about midnight club 1 is that in the open world you can find hidden red checkpoints and those unlock hidden cars some are very OP and you can use them to beat career mode,
midnight club - street racing was made on a compact disc also you're going to get deja vu when you play LA Remix because it uses the same maps from MC2
I loved your video! I grew up playing Need for Speed, Midnight Club, and GTA, and it brought back so many memories. I loved driving all the different cars, winning races, and exploring the cities. The games were always so challenging and fun at the same time. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. It was a trip down memory lane. Keep up the great work!
Que video foda! Muito bom seu conteúdo, sua pauta e edição. E tbm o "cybercafe" que vc jogou MC2 com certeza foi uma lan-house daquelas que era famosa no br nos anos 2000 😂
Midnight club 2 is hard af. Specially against Savo in Paris,i always didnt know where i was going. The third game is also difficult but the special habillity saves a lot of time
That un-ordered Savo race, you did right by following Savo XD took me a while too back in the day. Haley and Parfait are pretty cool. Julie & Jewel are like the goofy sisters. Stephane, just wants a hamburger XD
I grew up with the Midtown Madness games made by the same developers (Angel Studios / R*) and when I tried MC1 back in 2018, it felt like a rushed sequel unfortunately
Angel Studios developed Midtown Madness 2 and Midnight Club at the same time. In early betas of MM2, a cut Japan level for MCSR can be found in the files. As well, I later discovered that the freaking ragdoll code existed in MM2, albeit unused. We made it happen though! Let me blow your mind further: MC2 uses the same game engine, the Angel Game Engine (AGE); This little-known game engine is what RAGE was built upon, and powered a lot of fun racing games back in the day. That includes MC2 and MC3. Anyways, loved the video - keep up the great work!
I think the pedestrian ragdoll physics was unused to give more value to the graphical upgrades, physics are heavier compared to regular animations. I get surprised to saw rwgsoll physics in the first game, that was very impressive for a 2000 PS2 game.
Also Weight Transfer is essentially useless for the first 3 games. The controls are too tight when on two wheels. On MCLA however, they made them much looser. You can use the weight transfer to make tight turns and not lose speed. It's called Two Wheel racing, many videos of it on TH-cam.
The soundtrack on 2 is indeed licensed, not only that, but there's a Brazilian one in there, too. Remix, sort of, from an old Caetano Veloso song, it's called "Escaping Sao Paulo" by Projections.
i actually discovered something about MCII's two wheel drive problem. see the game was originally developed with PS2 in mind, so natively running the game at 30fps was R* San Diegos goal. the PC port wasn't thought out for higher framerates. so if you have a way to cap your framerate to 30 fps while playing on PC you should feel the difference in physics compared to 60+ fps.
The mom was pretty funny, cute mom A game full of personality, especially when everyone has their own themes and the main menu theme also changes too. When you're on the bike, if you idle long enough, you can see your driver with various emotions, little details; they are important. You don't see the originality in today's games
7:40 damn when i played gran turismo 4 again a couple years ago when we got a ps2 at work (Covid and nothing to do) i was shocked by how bad it looked in comparison to how i remembered it. This actually looks really nice and i got flashbacks of how i was driving around the airport during one of these sunsets after school.
Hell yeah. You made a video on one of my favorite games of all time. I just recently beat midnight club la because of dustin eden. Im saddened rockstar stopped supporting midnight club. They really had something going. I feel like if we still had midnight club to this day and it was good, it might have push ea to make Their need for speed games good again. Miss midnight club to this day 😢
Ah, it’s great to look at where the series originated before it went more mainstream. The first game was the first one I played and even though I didn’t like it the first time when I replayed it I enjoyed it much more. And the second game is basically the first game but better in every single aspect. By far one of the best street racing games without customization. I constantly flip flop between liking II or LA more because they both are great in their own ways. While the second game I wouldn’t consider forgotten, the first game is something no one talks about anymore because the later games are just better. Great vid dude.
My favorite part of 2 is easily the cheat codes. "savethekids" literally gives you a machine gun and rockets. When you can't play Twisted Metal like a racing game might as well bring the Twisted Metal to your Midnight Club. Good times for sure.
7:50 "I wouldn't say it'll stay with you for life" my brother I loved this video but you have to realise that some of us literally had our lives and personalities defined by the MC2 soundtrack 😭
i was saying the same thing lol, when Bluetag said that phrase I yelled at my screen IT WILL STAY WITH YOU FOR LIFE. MC2 soundtrack is literally one of the best soundtracks in entirety of gaming not just racing games but the whole gaming industry. This soundtrack is what makes you connected to the game and make you feel emotions. The rushing adrenaline as the races intensify, the relaxing cruising music, the chill racing 2000's nightclub beats like Nokternal Aurora on the Maria Highway race. Like someone else said, Midnight Club 2 was not just a racing game but also a musical experience.
I grew up playing MCLA Remix (psp version) around 2010 ish. Then when I read about the series around 5-6 years later, I looked into getting the older games. Played MC3 Remix, then MC2 and enjoyed both and still play. I don't think I can play MC1 however because of the physics. It's based off Midtown Madness, another great game but with the same wonky physics. If only they had the physics of the later games it would be superb. I have yet to play MCLA on Xbox/PS3 however. What I like about the series as a whole is that it makes you learn all the obstacles (which ones to avoid hitting like telephone poles in MC2) and traffic patterns of the city (dense traffic on the wide roads around the Eiffel tower in Paris). And from that you form your own route to win races.
Midnight Club was dope i remember how nice & unique the graphics were broski. 👌✅️

My childhood, man. I knew about this game around 2010. I was playing it the whole year just to finish the game. And damn, those frustration didn't stop me from coming back, it became the motivation to make me try harder next time because I knew that I could do better. I've played this game for several times later, since knowing all the routes, it became much easier. No any other games ever since could drive me nuts like MC2. Really wished the community was bigger so we could have had a bunch of fun mods for this game
The Soundtracks of Midnight Club 2 are truly and purely Masterpieces, so many unique and diverse genres... bangers after bangers...🎶☯️🎶 #NostalgicVibes #Childhood #Memories ☯️
Remember my brother buying a copy of MC2 for the PS2. It was remarkable in particular for the fact he rarely ever wasted his money on videogames, least of all PS2, but the racers like any Hard Truck, Midtown Madness, Sega Rally, Rollcage, NFS, Midnight Club 2, he’d have a soft spot for these type of games. And yes, I was “blown away” by the fact we had 3 cities to race. More than that, the many hidden alleys and path ways to make the lap more... optional, that was amazing. Even GTA3 or Vice City didn't have that level of detail. And the ability to make your own track layout and race it. It's true “going back” a series is like dressing down on features, that's why I consider myself blessed to have grown up from MSX/DOS era, through Win 95, 98, XP, and all the iterations of Playstation (except 5, because I am still content with how the 2, 3 and 4 are holding up today). Got to see the industry develop like the games themselves. Going back is simply nostalgia for me. But I can understand it may appear like a downgrade for people who didn't get to try the previous iterations. They may appear limited in what you can do, keep in mind the hardware they were designed on and for was quite limited too. Temper expectations but embrace the adventure into memory lane. Game engines have come a long way since the early days.
If you ever revisit MC2, be sure to cap the framerate to 30, thats what the physics were designed to operate at, everything will feel better, weight transfering is far more responsive, burnouts are no longer a waste of time, car acceleration is more responsive, ect... Unless if you plan to fishtail, then you'll want something over 100 fps
it's a weird choice but MCII is probably my favorite PS2 racing game. Something about the aesthetic and format vibes with me more than 3 and LA and I've replayed it several times. The race you talked about, Burn, is crazy hard and I remember spending hours just copying the different enemy routes to find one I liked. However when I replayed more recently I found a route someone did on youtube that is objectively faster than the enemies' routes and makes the race kinda easy. but i would have never found that on my own lol
Same, i finally finished Midnight Club 2 in 2022 and turned into my favorite racing game, when i played and finished Midnight Club 3 at same time, doens't have the same feel that i got with the serious atmosphere and sountrack of the second game.
I didn't knew Pyrocynical was hired for this game back then. (But in all seriousness, Rockstar was wild with games back then and it would be cool to see Midnight Club remake)
In MC2, 2 wheel flips your car slowly because of high framerate, at 30 fps which is what the game was intended to run at it will pop up much quicker. Same for burnout, it is framerate dependent, the higher the framerate the quicker it wears off, thus having less of an effect.
Interesting I was unaware of that, maybe next time I'll try my next MC2 play through with the PS2 version which should natively be capped at 30. I heard Ps2 handling is also different to PC version handling but the difference in framerate might be the reason why.
@@potatoking2597 Cap the PC version to 30fps, plug up a controller for that smooth steering and you pretty much have the same experience, handling values are the same across different platforms, it is indeed the framerate that changes the feel of it completely.
I love the whole franchise, but imo nothing can top the challenge midnight club 2 has that can keep me coming for more after beating it on the hardest difficulty over and over.
7:39 I mean you could've done some research, because 90% of the Tracks are licensed music ranging from various artists like: Art of Trance, Axus, Michael Da Brain and D-Noiser with their Brain series, Felix Da Housecat, Golden Boy, Thomas Bangalter, Tommy Tee...
The first one is the only one I’ve played (ps2) I found it a lot of fun as a kid the free roam was goofy and you can get to a lot of interesting places like on the boat out on the water. Plus running over the NPCs was funny af the voice acting and physics are hilarious. Great vid as always!
@@BlooTeg If you ever get a chance, try find Red Asphalt (PS1 1997), I adore that game and it's ridiculously underrated and forgotten. Shooting/Racer, six characters, Bunch of cars to upgrade with winnings, LOTS of tracks (Each world has an evolving track each race) excellent music, fun and vengeful as, and kinda hard the closer to the end you get. Give it a go!
I didn't play much of Midnight Club as a kid growing up. But i did play a lot of Test Drive though the only one i have any memories of Test Drive is the one that had that at the time every racing game had the car with the blue paint and the white stripes but also looked like the Banshee from gta 3. And that Test Drive wow it was amazing.
The game has licensed songs and artists. For example those tracks you played at 7:26 are Extra Dry and Outrun from Thomas Bangalter A.K.A. 50% of Daft Punk.
i Dunno why, but Midnight club 1 gives a little Test Drive 5 vibes that's is a bad game, but at same time it's AMAZING ! tracks of that game are REALLY unique
If you're going to play midnight club 3 play remix edition because it adds more cars more music and an extra career mode, the base game takes place in the United States three cities San Diego where you start and then you go to Atlanta and then Detroit being the last City there's vehicle types of muscle cars sport bikes choppers SUVs exotics and luxury cars you can also customize cars although some you can't fully customize and you can upgrade the performance on some but others you really can't. There's also clubs in the game where you have to race 2-3 races to unlock a ability for whatever vehicle type you're driving and 5 to unlocked customization parts you can also unlock more options for customizations like decals different paint types and rims. by doing career racing there's also quick races to earn some extra cash in case you need to. And there's tournaments in each City that allow you to win cars some are which already customized because the game was a collaboration with a magazine called dub. Also all the mechanics from the second game are available to use from the get-go.
Midnight Club 2 and LA (plus LA Remix) are my favorite games in the series. Btw doing burnout, weight transfer and etc are actually useful ONLY on locked 30 FPS since the game was meant to be played on 30, its fine on 60 but the game was designed to be played on 30. I will link the video that explains the engine behavior of the game with different fps in my reply for this comment
In midnight club 2, it takes too long to do the 2 wheels thing because the engine is tied to your fps, the minimum is probably recommended on 30fps, and also everything in midnight club 2 is affected by fps, so turn that fps down baby!
Dude... I remember getting so frustrated with the rain race against the guy in the Evo back when i was a kid. I could not figure out how to control the saikou (supra look alike) in the rain and i basically stopped my career there and find cheats and mess around with the bomb game mode. Many years later, i got the game on emulator and my god, figuring out that powersliding with the saikou in the rain or just powersliding in general made it faster was so satisfying and i finally made it out of that hurdle. Savo's races were honestly quite fun and especially the background music on his races which makes the races more hectic than it needs to be, I honestly had more trouble with the second tokyo race with heavy traffic than the unordered race in paris. The LA ones were a decent challenge and the second paris race was the easiest for me.
Niko is the guy who drives the Knight (unlicensed Evo 7), Saikou was the worst car to use during the rain, you need a car with better handling to beat it, i used the RSMC 15 (Nissan 350Z) and the Alarde (Lotus Elise second gen) to beat it.
@@Silva_GP I saw those on some very old mc2 vids i think it was an online modr clip with a bunch of people in velocis. The two wheeled thing is actually pretty useful in mcla (the last one) since the weight transfer is almost instant and it really helps to make sharper corners
The cars on the box are owned by a guy I know from the import car scene here in the dmv and his brother. My pops had a big turbo e36 bmw in the early 2000s so I got to experience alot of car shows and street races from that era.
no way! that's sick haha
And Just Like that blue tag went off and committed war crimes haha 😂
I love the Midnight Club games, even if the games have led to me breaking a controller or two. Im glad you enjoyed MC2, my dad loved that one when he was younger.
definitely a great one!
Midnight club 1 was my first ps2 game. Crazy how time flies
To this day i still farm money in the random races in MC3 while i listen to podcasts.
It just feels great.
ah, every time I see anything MC2 related, I always look forward to them talking about Savo's unordered paris race...
I kid you not, I got stuck on that Race for *literal Years*, but after the game forced me to get good over time, it's outrageous to say that I can now beat that race with handicaps.
MC2 just hits different(and also really hard)
The cool thing about midnight club 1 is that in the open world you can find hidden red checkpoints and those unlock hidden cars some are very OP and you can use them to beat career mode,
midnight club - street racing was made on a compact disc
also you're going to get deja vu when you play LA Remix because it uses the same maps from MC2
is LA remix the PSP one
@@BlooTeg
Yeah, it is.

Keep up the great work!
thank you so much!
Que video foda! Muito bom seu conteúdo, sua pauta e edição. E tbm o "cybercafe" que vc jogou MC2 com certeza foi uma lan-house daquelas que era famosa no br nos anos 2000 😂
exato!
Midnight club 2 is hard af.
Specially against Savo in Paris,i always didnt know where i was going.
The third game is also difficult but the special habillity saves a lot of time
2:28 - I think that might be hydroplaning from the wet street. it's been a while, but I remember wet streets making handling more difficult.
I never knew it was made by the same devs!
Anyways, loved the video - keep up the great work!
thank you so much! so they do run on the same engine? that's actually crazy.
I think the pedestrian ragdoll physics was unused to give more value to the graphical upgrades, physics are heavier compared to regular animations. I get surprised to saw rwgsoll physics in the first game, that was very impressive for a 2000 PS2 game.
yeah don't forget about smugglers run 1 that also running at the AGE engine.
The AGE engine was used in Midtown through to MC3. Then redone into what became the RAGE and used for MCLA/GTA/RDR
I noticed that after finishing the video LOL
Midnight Club was released in the year 2000 'pretty early in the console's life cycle'
it was a launch title.
i actually discovered something about MCII's two wheel drive problem.
see the game was originally developed with PS2 in mind, so natively running the game at 30fps was R* San Diegos goal.
the PC port wasn't thought out for higher framerates. so if you have a way to cap your framerate to 30 fps while playing on PC you should feel the difference in physics compared to 60+ fps.
Good to know my mom gets excited when she sees puddingman, now I know why she's so into you 🙃
LOL
Fun fact: PSP version of MC: LA uses the same maps as the second game (LA and Tokyo)
VERY interesting
The mom was pretty funny, cute mom
A game full of personality, especially when everyone has their own themes and the main menu theme also changes too.
When you're on the bike, if you idle long enough, you can see your driver with various emotions, little details; they are important. You don't see the originality in today's games
These are the types of Racing games I grew up with. I miss the arcade race games. I need a midnight club 1 and 2 remake or remastered for ps4
Great vid dude.
thank you!
Midnight club 2 is the reason why I love cars today. Great video!
thank you!
My favorite part of 2 is easily the cheat codes. "savethekids" literally gives you a machine gun and rockets. When you can't play Twisted Metal like a racing game might as well bring the Twisted Metal to your Midnight Club. Good times for sure.
7:50 "I wouldn't say it'll stay with you for life" my brother I loved this video but you have to realise that some of us literally had our lives and personalities defined by the MC2 soundtrack 😭
yeah apparently a lot of people loved it!
i was saying the same thing lol, when Bluetag said that phrase I yelled at my screen IT WILL STAY WITH YOU FOR LIFE.
Wish MC LA was on PC, I haven’t played any of MC games but LA just seems interesting
same, too bad they ignored PC
@@BlooTeg I’ll probably buy it on PS3 one day, seems interesting
7:26 ayo this goes hard what the heck
also i hope u gonna review the third game next, the Mnc 3 DUB edition REMIX
Unless if you plan to fishtail, then you'll want something over 100 fps
thanks for the tip! didn't know that was a thing
it's a weird choice but MCII is probably my favorite PS2 racing game.
I love the effort people put into things like that on old games like this. Definitely something I'll look up when I come back to replay this game haha
Same, i finally finished Midnight Club 2 in 2022 and turned into my favorite racing game, when i played and finished Midnight Club 3 at same time, doens't have the same feel that i got with the serious atmosphere and sountrack of the second game.
which route?
MCII. My favorite MC game alongside III. So many banger soundtracks.
unfortunately nowadays all midnight club games are kinda forgotten
good point
Song in the background from the MC 2 video is Thomas Bangalter - Turbo
I didn't knew Pyrocynical was hired for this game back then.
(But in all seriousness, Rockstar was wild with games back then and it would be cool to see Midnight Club remake)
I just want anything midnight club at this point
Nice video, I wish you more subscribers, you really deserve it :)
thank you so much!
In MC2, 2 wheel flips your car slowly because of high framerate, at 30 fps which is what the game was intended to run at it will pop up much quicker. Same for burnout, it is framerate dependent, the higher the framerate the quicker it wears off, thus having less of an effect.
I should have expected that from a Rockstar game, physics tied to fps to this day haha
@@dovydasbudrys452 I'll try that then, thanks.
I love the whole franchise, but imo nothing can top the challenge midnight club 2 has that can keep me coming for more after beating it on the hardest difficulty over and over.
7:39 I mean you could've done some research, because 90% of the Tracks are licensed music ranging from various artists like: Art of Trance, Axus, Michael Da Brain and D-Noiser with their Brain series, Felix Da Housecat, Golden Boy, Thomas Bangalter, Tommy Tee...
cannot wait for u to cover the other midnight club games in separate videos
Watching midnight club 2 upscaled in wide-screen makes me want to try it again!
worth it!
Midnight club 2 was my childhood absolutely love it
The first one is the only one I’ve played (ps2) I found it a lot of fun as a kid the free roam was goofy and you can get to a lot of interesting places like on the boat out on the water. Plus running over the NPCs was funny af the voice acting and physics are hilarious.
Great vid as always!
free roam in these were always fun, too bad it ain't the same these days
Midnight Club 1 is more of a weird spinoff of Midtown Madness 1 and 2 as Angel Studios got bought by Rockstar and Microsoft owned the MM license
Oh heck that 'your mum' joke was slipped right in their like a true pro. Great work!
The second one not so much, but a callback is always nice.
haha thank you!
Midnight club 3 is and will be the best of all time.
I still got my ps2 copys 1 , 2 , 3 , and LA 😢 i wish rockstar gave us a new midnight club even if itd unlicensed cars that resemble real life cars
Sometimes I wish Rockstar would remaster these games, and make them available on PC too.
And then I remembered the gta trilogy.
ive played a lot of racing games from sim to arcade and ive never seen any race harder than savo’s paris race. nightmares man
Jumpscare rat confirmed. 10/5, spooky intro.
Take your car, you think you are real clever i imagine - Makato
I need to play midnight club
agreed
The game has licensed songs and artists. For example those tracks you played at 7:26 are Extra Dry and Outrun from Thomas Bangalter A.K.A. 50% of Daft Punk.
i Dunno why, but Midnight club 1 gives a little Test Drive 5 vibes
that's is a bad game, but at same time it's AMAZING !
tracks of that game are REALLY unique
I wish you well bluetag. You make me want to create videos myself.
then go for it! speak your mind!
2/3 were my absolute favorite I wish I could go back to that era 😢
I will link the video that explains the engine behavior of the game with different fps in my reply for this comment
th-cam.com/video/Wr91EDGEbQg/w-d-xo.html

@@Silva_GP yeah thats what i figured before but powersliding with the saikou on the rain actually helps it alot
@@demon-x3250 The powerslide glitch was a thing that i discovered on the speedruns.
@@Silva_GP I saw those on some very old mc2 vids i think it was an online modr clip with a bunch of people in velocis. I did see some speedruns i remember one where he like did a 360 spin just to enter a corner faster, blew my mind. I tried it on emulator with controller but apparently its a trick easily done with keyboard than controller
The weight transfer on 2 is based on your frame rate and will be slower the higher it is.
Just when I grabbed some snacks to eat, you upload, perfect timing man as always
oh hell yeah!
