    "It is better to do a messy sketch then no sketch at all", Amen to that. This is beautiful Jane. I tend to overdo the backgrounds, but the simplicity of the background really pops this beauty and I love the jewels!! They look like they are floating on the paper. Lovely!!!

      Thanks a lot for the acknowledgement, I like those jewels the least, they might have deserved more attention, but overall I was more satisfied than I tend to be 😁😁

    Would it be possible to have the reference up on the screen as well? Would make it easier to understand why you choose a particular colour or where you deviate from the reference and how you approach the painting

    • @JaneBeata
      @JaneBeata  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry, I can't do that, because the reference isnt my photo. I can only list the original source down below and you can compare that by yourself. Also, I wouldn't want to do that because this isn't that type of tutorial, I mean how to photorealistically paint something, I just draw inspiration from the reference and do not follow it exactly.

    wow wow wow, this was incredible. I really enjoyed sketching and painting it. I have used Legion Stonehenge cold press and I didn't like the paper at all (first time I tried it) so will re-do on a Fabriano which I use normally and love. I feel like I haven't watered down some layers enough and the transition wasn't as smooth as I would like to. Something to practice. Great suggestion in another post about the coloured pencils, to get only a few as the set is so exxy. Will start slowly building the collection of colours that I would use to highlight. They really cover the watercolour so well. Thank you for all your work, it must take very long time to edit videos this length. Also would Ove to ask as I am thinking about joining pattern if the tutorials there are this style or different to this guidance. xx Lucia

      Thanks so much for watching :) Yeah, my Patreon is pretty much this type of lessons, newer lessons also have more camera angles to see the artwork in the making up close when needed. Patreon contains also drawing processes, sketches to download, list of colors, studio journals and lots of other stuff (resources, polls, etc.)

    Absolutely stunning, I love it! Since you have introduce the quinacridone gold for the skin mixing tone in other portraits you did, I gave up for now on the Hanza yellow medium I usually use. It creates a more rich and interesting tone. This deeper tone you're showing today turned out really beautiful. I like how brave and good you are with exploring colours:) You always gets really interesting mixtures. This Bloodstone paint is quite something too.. Have you tried the Schmincke Aqua Watercolour granulation spray? I'm very curious & wanted to try it for long time because apparently it creates granulation effect.. Jane, thank you so much for this fantastic treat, and "Real time paint with me" are my favourite.

    • @JaneBeata
      @JaneBeata  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So glad you enjoy Quin gold Cristina, it is a bolder color than raw sienna but I love to work with it. This deeper version of it was nothing less interesting than the "regular" version. Thanks for watching and commenting, means a lot!

    If you're still looking for similar color to Prussian Blue by Schmincke you can try Indanthrene Blue by Rembrandt, maybe you'll like it.
    Or other indanthrone blue (PB60) paints.

    I love how this turned out. The Bloodstone Genuine's texture is so nice. Very similar to the Lunar Black but with a more subtle dark. I think I'll have to add it to my wish list :). That sketchbook is gorgeous but pricey. This was the perfect way to start my day!

    • @JaneBeata
      @JaneBeata  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Monique. Bloodstone genuine has beautiful warm undertones and is my newest obsession :) Yeah the sketchbook is pricey. But the papers in it are the highest quality, and it is well-made. Still, it is an investment, thats for sure. Makes me cherish it even more.

    Absolutely love this painting! I struggle panting black hair. This was helpful and you make it looks so easy. I really want to invest in those carandache pencils. I’ve been wanting them for a while and I’ve never worked with color pencils before but it just adds so much more detail. I picked up some prisma color pencils but they don’t seem to cover over my watercolor as much as the carandache does. Can you do a deeper review on them? Is there a smaller starter set you would recommend?

    • @JaneBeata
      @JaneBeata  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can get them not as a set but make your own small selection, thats the best. You often dont use all the colors that sets provide. I started with white, red and one darker tone for details and than gradually added more shades when I had money for it. Thanks so much for watching :)
