Wont press in place by hand. Clip it in loosely by hand to line it all up, then you'll need a ball joint press. I ended up using a large pair of channel locks and a half inch socket. Just line up the socket against the eyelet and squeeze everything together all at once with even pressure around the socket for the pin to come all the way through. Kind of snaps into place.
Just add me to your list of saving my night. I was about to head home from working a double and this happened to me. Boy I never cursed so much in my life. But watching this video and using my daughter’s hair tie got me home safe. Thank you sir.
That’s the wrong part number tho. It’s the Dorman part number 14092 for the lower transmission linkage. I used this part in the video, it works for about 3-5 days then breaks
The aftermarket bushings are trash, I literally have to get under my truck and reattach this shit 2 or three times a day. Got frustrated and burned my arm on the catalytic converter one time. Just order from the dealer.
I left my van at my sister n law house it would t go into gears then found your video went under the van and just pushed it back into place and works again but I guess I need to put a band or keychain and tie it up
Currently dealing with that on my 05 duramax, I can shift gears but when I go back up there’s nothing, it just stays in the gesr I put it in until I shut off the truck and manually put it back into park
Hello, this could be the problem but you won’t be able to remove the key from the ignition switch, if you able to remove the key then is something else
Hello, just have some extra hair tie because that area gets hot and hair tie can melt, in our truck we replace that piece after two months and nothing happened, but replace it as soon as possible

What happens if I leave it with the hair tie because I can’t see a mechanic soon? Will it damage it?
Hello, just have some extra hair tie because that area gets hot and hair tie can melt, in our truck we replace that piece after two months and nothing happened, but replace it as soon as possible
Is that towards the back of the car?
Hello, it’s under the cab, driver side
That's exactly what I did
Hi, just wanted to know that name if these part’s please?
Hello, shift linkage bushing repair kit, I hope this help, have a great day
I gotta ram truck n it's a manual, shifter stays in place unless I turn tha truck off n put in first gear.
Did you start it in reverse?
Hello, no we didn’t start it in reverse
I’m wondering if that’s what’s happening to my truck. My truck only revs when I shift into gear.
Why does that happen?
The bushing just wears out overtime from being shifted into gear constantly
