In a similar vein to this, I'd really love to see some guns only with the F-86, MiG-15, against some of the modern trainers like the MB-339, L-39, etc. Planes from very different eras but similar-ish performance. The A-4 would be a good addition here too.
Death by wake turbulence all it has to do is fly by the Flyer. The only advantage the Flyer has is that the pilot can fire the pistol in almost any direction
To be fair, that rule of thumb applies mostly to being on the defensive. In that first fight vs the E - GS was offensive through alot of that fight, it started to go neutral as the airspeed dropped off and that primitive little turbojet in the 86 just didn't have the poop to keep that nose up and pointed at the eagle in the toilet bowl. He had to keep the nose dumped to maintain airspeed, the eagle with its far superior T/W, didn't have to do that. You could see the fight turning into a slow one circle, which was favorable to the eagle with its superior power output, and ability to pull itself through manuvers using brute power The turn reversal was a last ditch attempt to change the geometry of the fight and maybe roll into the eagles control zone - but the eagle was just too good in the one circle, saw what he was trying to do and countered it.
In Vietnam the F4 Phantom was struggling against the Mig 17 and so they broke out the old F-86 to mock dog fight with the F4 in order to develop tactics to fight against the Mig 17...I've watched video footage of the training and its quite amazing to watch the old Sabre battle with the Phantom...my uncle flew in the Air Force and Navy and his favorite plane was the Sabre!
GS - We hope you are doing well. We were worried when we couldn't get our daily GS-fix. We know you are entitled to a life - you've created the addiction we collectively have for your channel. Thank you for all you do.
I appreciate you guys, but ur correct I was off spending some time with my wife but yes slowly going to be getting back into the swing of things. Thank you again much love.
GS in previous videos: "Never do a turn reversal unless you are certain they are going to overshoot." GS in this video: "Okay so I'm gonna reverse the turn... [1 minute later] Let's try and get him to overshoot..." [GS gets KIA'd] We really appreciate the fact you reinforce the point that it's a mistake to reverse the turn in front of your opponent from the victim's perspective. Good stuff. Haha.
The Australian CAC CA27 was the most potent variant of the F-86 sabre family with a bigger engine and 2X 30mm Aden cannons. It also had sidewinders at the end.
Went back to watch old IL-2 vids. You were having fun, “so satisfying!” Less clinical than BVR fights. Keep having over the top fun! It’s what drew me in the first place.
Imagine if you could do engine swaps in the same way as cars. What more modern engine would fit into an F86? Assuming its installation doesn't alter the C of G, doesn't bend the airframe etc, how awesome would it be?
Dude this video makes me so happy! At the FBO where I work there was an F-86 that was privately owned that needed maintenance for a couple of years. I was just thinking about it and was wanting to see it in a video!
I love fighting with the Sabre against gen 4 aircraft. Its not easy but often they underestimate what the sabre can do in close and slow. I have a fight against the F18 on my channel with similar outcomes as your hahaha. Another great video GS!!
The A-10 was built to deal with an entirely different order of weaponry than .50 cal. It was built to survive multiple hits from Soviet 23mm cannons and the engines are designed to burn and fall off so if you lose one you still have a clean airframe to fly home on the other engine. Plus the titanium armor bath the pilot sits in make a pilot kill much harder.
Back in the PS2 there was a combat flight simulator called Aero Elite: Combat Academy. I used to use the F-86 because it was a very good dogfighter lol
That was pretty good. I love the F86. It's about my favourite fighter jet. Something about the designs North American produced at their best. They are just timeless. They don't look old. The P51 and the F86, just great planes.
Honestly the 86 can really move, it's a brilliant little plane, very fun, if i want to perform be focused and accomplish my missions i take the 18, but if i wanna have fun ill always pick the 86, absolutely recommend it for anyone getting into full fidelity great first module
It might be useful to know that in the mid '70s the ROKAF was flying F-86 with Sidewinders + 50's. Also I heard mention of F-86 with 20mm? As far as i know the only F-86 that carried 20mm was the H model and possibly the K,L built for export. I am open for correction on this matter so feel free. Thank you.
9:45 -- RE: Disabling the A-10's Engines; Gotta wonder if that's basically the strategy against any modern aircraft, more modern than the F-86 I mean... The target area would be pretty danged small on some of them. And faster by leaps and bounds.

Damn you're quite the pilot here.!
I've been watching your stuff for a while now and.. Well... Damn! You're one hell of a pilot.
Love you GS! Please do more VR stuff!!!
The question is if the flight model of the 86 is accurate or just a skin.

Day 14 asking for F-22 vs 10 MiG 21
That first cockpit hit is what you call indisputable.
Like the WW1 dogfights.
The impossible dogfight: The Wright Flyer VS an A350 Airbus.
Death by wake turbulence all it has to do is fly by the Flyer. The only advantage the Flyer has is that the pilot can fire the pistol in almost any direction
bro gonna be playing that in msfs 😂
Talk about a knife fight.
A350:2 "What was that?"
A350:1 "What was what?"
Wilber wright with a colt and a flight attendant sticking a Glock out the door!
GS in every dogfight: that turn reversal of the enemy was a mistake
GS in this dogfight: reverses the turn
You only reverse the turn if you can get the overshoot.

That was quite a toothbrushing you got in the first round.

Funny thing was, it wasnt necessarily even a problem of the Phantom. But rather than this was a kind of fight the F4 pilots just never trained for.
The slumped over pilot is pretty brutal lol

Glad you guys could get away GS! Hey how about a F-86 vs Me-262 fight?
@@GrowlingSidewinderGood for you man, family is always more important than anything here on youtube!

Oh this sounds so cool!
The Avro sabre MK6 had the best overall performance however stuck with the 6 .50 Cal's. The CA27 is one hell of a aircraft none the less :)

Man, I missed these dogfights so much. Glad to see you backG/S.
You want the Aussie F-86 Sabre with the twin 30mm Aden cannon against the A-10. Def get the job done.

i am absolutely loving the new style of making the deaths so emotional. Absolutely brilliant!
When you're a beast at dog fighting and you have to limit yourself to an under dog plane to give the other guy a chance! 🎉😂
honestly in a gunfight the sabre is insane. try it out sometime

Great video.
When the F-15 pulled behind you at 2:28, it looked so badass.
hahahahahahahaahaha that first kill was NAAAAASTY~
Prez, is that you?😂😂
Every single time I am watching and your talking...and your voice becomes concerned then "SPLAT" - I jump!
I gotta say that I really appreciate the artistic moods you create like at 2:40. Makes my "allergies" flair up. :)
You're one of the best!
Love these dogfighting everything videos
first fight... how many times have I heard you say... don't reverse the turn unless you know he's going to overshoot. lolololol
That was good to watch. Considering that the F86 is 1950s technology, that was a capable and vigorous scrap 👍✌️☮️

Australian Sabres has 2 x 30mm Aden cannons - that would have helped!
Great job on the DCS 2024 and beyond video btw! It gave me some serious goosebumps

This thing is surprisingly good at dogfights against modern jets lol
Thank you to both pilots for a great fight!
Knife fight in a phone booth with that Hornet!!!
the a10 pilot was great!
f 86 is such a beautiful aircraft!
Yo GS, respects for taking on the superior foe. Thanks for the video. As always great work. Have a pleasant day. Cheers.
That was different. Pilot slump over as jets has holes riddled all through it

The A-10 taking those shots, and just... not giving a F was so funny 😆
Excellent, more of this stuff please!

This was a fun video choice to make. Love seeing a random aircraft take on a variety of opponents.
Man the holes from that Eagle kill! Ouch!
That dramatic F-15 kill was comedy gold.
Love the saber, I would like to see some more of it in the future! Nice work as always, and awesome kill on the A-10!
I can say that the F-86 use to pull darts for F-15 at a location I was in the 90s. F-86 guys said they would have no issue beating them.
That first one was a nasty pilot kill.
Good to see you back man

The Aussies had a Sabre heavily modified called an Avon Sabre with 2 x 30mm Aden cannons.
