Hey thanks for posting this video Kevin. I've not seen a 5x5 tips and tricks video with this much detail. You should make more video's like this, you're very good at them.
I agree. When I watch Felik's tutorials they are way too fast to see what he is doing in his F2L tutorials. Speaking of which, have you ever set a goal on trying to beat Felik's records? Are you guys buddies, friendemies...? You don't have to reply I'm just curious because you guys are like the king of rubik's records, it would be cool if you guys teamed up or something. Heck, you guys can teach each other more techniques on how to get faster to break the next record on cubes!
Same. It is still catching thought I've tried different solutions (lubing, tensioning...) Not sure whether its because of the cube or its because of I'm not fond of big cubes. I WAS likely to get a yuxin 4x4,6x6 and a 7x7 but now I changed my mind to get a Qiyi Wuque, Moyu Weishi GTS and a Qiyi Wuji. @Soubi Rama if its still catching you could try the bochuang :)
Ooh, I missed that out sorry. If it was me I'd rather spend more on a better cube than a catchy cube (because I have to replace the existing cube then) @Soubi Rama Do you have any tips on how to hold and turn an actual BIG CUBE? Cuz I have serious issues where I can't do well on 3x3 stages. (Is it probably because of the cube is catchy?)
I'm not to experienced with the 5x5 but I am autistic so I can keep track of three pieces at once. It's really nice at times other time it's a pain in the ass because I end up keeping track of several edges at once
I do most of what you showed here, but learned a few things. I really like the tip for 6x6 you gave in Dan's video, where if you have edge parity and its your LL color, leave it and do it as OLL parity instead of doing both. It sucks that that would only work if it's the 2 most inner edges that are flipped.
My 5x5 doesn't even have a single lock up at ALL including the middle layers! Niether does the pop of the caps as well! Is like by far the best SS 5x5 I've ever seen!
Maximilian Berkmann I'm not sure about other designs but atleast the shengshou cubes only have internal pieces on the even numbered layer cubes (2x2, 4x4, 6x6, etc.) and that's most probably what happens with most brands, because when there is no central piece there needs to be an internal edge to simulate the center edges that keep the cube in place. That's why you can's find tutorials on how to do konsta mod on 5x5 SS because technically you con only do florian :)
BCBBCL It looks like you confuse internal core pieces with internal pieces. All big cubes have internal pieces but as you say only even big cubes have internal core pieces. Florian mod is for corner cutting so external pieces and konsta is for internal pieces not just internal core pieces.
With edge pairing, I ended up learning to do it vertically this whole time over years. Getting around 2:15-2:30 times, would learning horizontal be highly effective or is there cuber's using vertical edge pairing that are doing really well? If anyone else might have any idea also it'd be nice to hear opinions.
Lin Chen and Robert Yau. They're both fast... and using the M slice is effective because you have a better view of edges on R and L, than if you were to pair on E.
Hendrick Tucker It's actually the same to do on M and E You see the same amount of Surface area of the cube. But on E you see one face (U) more than the other (D) and on M you see both L and R equally. Fingertricks are also equally hard. For first 8 edges: On E you have easy fingertricks for U face and a bit harder for D face, while on M you have them equally hard (for faces L and R). Then for last 4 edges its the same because flipping alg is faster on E, but the isoceles triangle case (M' U2 M) is faster for M. Most people (including me) rotate between E and M depending of what I get while doing L4E. It's one choice on which axis is better, mostly depends on how you learnt to solve a 5x5 (I do on E) :)
You've probably figured this out by now, but Maru wears out very quickly. If your cube is too slow I would recommend DNM-37. If your cube is the right speed but isn't smooth enough I would recommend Lubicle Silk.
Hey thanks for posting this video Kevin. I've not seen a 5x5 tips and tricks video with this much detail. You should make more video's like this, you're very good at them.
this video is the most helpful video on TH-cam about how to get faster at the 5×5

I still do the basic edge paring method :/
Added link in the description.
Great tips, thanks!
thanks for that awesome help.
My yuxin 5x5 doesn't turn very smooth
It's catchy
Me too, did u get a solution or it still catching ?
Same. It is still catching thought I've tried different solutions (lubing, tensioning...) Not sure whether its because of the cube or its because of I'm not fond of big cubes.

But the price isnt the same ^^ but thx :D

Grr, I already knew and could fluently apply almost all of these, I guess my lookahead sucks.
I'm not to experienced with the 5x5 but I am autistic so I can keep track of three pieces at once. It's really nice at times other time it's a pain in the ass because I end up keeping track of several edges at once
honestly nothing really special about it.
practise seems to be more important :)
Thanks a lot, really helpful!
I see your not making any videos often. So,please try too,Cause they're Awesome!
I like how the description says it's not a tutorial, but it was originally uploaded with the title "tutorial"
Hey Kevin ca i know what method do you use in the 5x5
Reduction
Jia Tian Redux into CFOP
You get av50- 1 hour we get avg-50 about 6 hours ? :D

4:25 The L shape
5:16 2 Diagonal Corner Finger Trick
5:54 Almost T trick
6:27 Easy Pairing ( using 2x1 bars)
what's the cube?
great vid btw
When will you do the smae but with 4x4?
How r u able to solve these cube so fast without the inner notches that u would find on a weilong or a zhanchi???
thanks kevin, it was very helpful
The t trick for centers. Genius!
Any chance of something similar for 6x6? It's probably my favourite cube to solve but my times are AWFUL.
Thanks!
CrazyBadCuber sent me here!
You live in washington university and my dad works there as a teacher for layers
You sound like feliks...
what is that parity alg?
Thanks for all the tips! I really enjoyed this video.
He finally speaks!
do 4by4 tips
next: 6x6 tips
Wow great tips my times have dropped from 4min to 2 min
How much did the timer cost you? I thought about getting one.
the one i got was $32.00
hi
...
cool
can*
thank you for making this :D very very helpful
what are the sticker shades on that 5x5, and where did you get them
is this still ur main 5x5
it's 2016, there's much better than a modded shengshou.
his main is the yuxin 5x5
CDog821 now it's the weichuang
Tfresh Cuber nope still the yuxin
He commented that when the WeiChuang was his main.
5x5 tips Awesome!!!
thank you Kevin
how can the 5x5 cube turn as fast as you do it?
my cube not smooth than your cube.
what did you do with your cube?
thanks kevin
Tuấn Ngọc Phạm He triple modded it, so DaYan springs, Florian and Konsta mod
+Maximilian Berkmann (Max) But... the 5x5's usually don't have internal pieces, right? So there's no way to do konsta mod on them.
BCBBCL All big cubes does have them.

Cyoubx says: Turn as fast as you can. Pauses are ok.
Kevin Hays says: Turn fluidly/not too fast. Pauses are bad.
Marco Cantero who's right cyoubx or one of the fastest in the world
by the way thanks for tips
Thanks, this was just what I neeeded!
What mod has been done
Florian
Anyone know how exactly he modded this shengshou?
Pure Randomness probably florian and konsta, but just get a yuxin wushuang or weichuang
To fast
KroddOfCoc maybe ur too slow lol

dude how did u make ur cube so fast? My shengshou cube breaks when I spin it very fast
hes not using a shengshou
Madhav Singh he is he said in the description he used a modded shengshou
15:26 voice crack
Tanzer Balimtas lmao
what cube does he use ??
Ss
yuxin
what is the best sillicone to lube 5x5
vietnam cuber use Maru lube
Vi3tnamesePanda thanks
You've probably figured this out by now, but Maru wears out very quickly. If your cube is too slow I would recommend DNM-37. If your cube is the right speed but isn't smooth enough I would recommend Lubicle Silk.
which brand is the best 5x5 speed cube?
Shengshou
I think now it's moyu
Xian Mariano this video was before moyu
+Adam Attia I had realized that before. I was just simply informing others that in my opinion the best brand 5x5x5 is moyu as of now.
Xian Mariano yes I understand completely :)
