Thanks for the update I just purchased the black box from open build I build my own cnc router 1.5m x 1.2m and currently running on Mach3 with drivers and I was wandering if my 4amp stepper motors will be able to run with the black box it is Nema 23 stepper motors 2 on the Y 1 on the X and 1 on the Z axis Your thoughts on it please
@@captainahab5650 what size torque have i think open build sell only nema 23 2Nm motors all machines what have totally too small drive good, minimum torque all hobby cnc must be run good have 3Nm torque and biggest is better not lose steps.
i just watched your video on receiving the new black box. I just also received a new one from Open Builds and went ahead an installed it by just unplugging and plugging in. (i didn't move any wires) but now when i move the controls my Z motor from some reason is backwards up is down and down is up. did they change the way its wired.
stupid buy one box all in, because you make some error or broken one driver need buy new owerprice expensive box all new, lot better and cheapen have buy usb controler 20$ and ewery axis own motor driver what size want use, 20$ about /axis. if one go broken not need buy all new. only one axis or one cheap controller new. and can use biggest better drivers and big motors too what want use, normal opebuild and shapeoke etc have too small torque motors what need change better motors sametime than install all, why some peoples buy stupid 4000-6000$ cnc because normal men can build same and lot better and biggest machine DIY in garage easy, and less than 4-6000$ about 1000$ can build same or better machine in garage DIY.
That is a point for sure. I don't mind the black box. It's not that expensive compared to many controllers on the market and it's plug and play. I sold a CNC recently with a black box that I installed, even though its components were older, I was able to remove its old controller (A big thing, maybe 18 x 12 x 7 inches) and replace it with the black box, and simply wire it in. it functioned better than with the old controller, and took maybe 20 minutes to install. You're right, there's less expensive ways, But my time is also valuable and I'm willing to spend a little money to make the difference.
@@captainahab5650 not need spend any more time buy 20$ controller box, need only plug wires and setup software all input, output thats all. software config have easy some minit work add table size, in/out,limits etc. not rocket science and not waste time any more.but if come erros broken etc, can cheap change board new and not waste money lot. have only stupid waste money ower 200$ box what can use better board 20$ money have important than time. same have totally stupid buy 4000-6000$ machine kit if all normal men can build same or better machine about 1000$ easy order better parts and build all together go only same time than buy ower expensive machine and install thats ready. save lot money, time not have ewer important, no matter build you machine 1 or 2 week or 1 day. only have stupid if waste lot money, i has build many machine, my hobby, and my son 12 year old has build him own machine not have hard build. i has build many small factory retro fit cnc mill machine lot cheapen than buy 100 000$ new machine only order parts and install old machine some motor and controller have lot lot cheapen, expt, one factory think buy 120 000 plasma cutter, old working well but has manual, frame has good, need only motors ballscews and controller and linuxcnc software and cost less than 1300$ has lot better and smart build own no go lot money stupid. same many woodworkers shop i has build machine and easy cheap repair if come problems. less than 50-80$ can change new or better biggest motor drivers can change controller 20$ if burn, what not has ewer any machine doing, motors have big only expensive cost 40-90$ normal need more than 3Nm torque motors if want sure working at factory good. openbuild motors have all too small good factory work uses, hobby work if not have busy have ok, about minimum size what can use. same prce can buy lot lot better motors. or buy little biggest 60-90$ have many good double biggest torque motors, thats have importand no lose steps and can use fasten and more chips.

My 23's run fine. You can ramp up or down the voltage if they struggle a bit. The z on mine is a high torque too.

There is a setting that you must change. You'll have to select "Reverse Z" in the settings.
