I don't have any friends to play Diablo II with so getting into a player's 8 game is practically impossible. I really wish they would just add the players command to battlenet

The sucky thing about ghosts is that if they die where you cannot reach them, they don't drop anything at all :( It happens all the time in Arcane Sanctuary when farming keys, also in River of Flame and sometimes in Chaos Sanctuary. 1 or 2 accidental FoH bolts and there goes your Jah...
Act 2 tal rashas tombs. Tons of wraiths and nowhere for the to go.
u can line them up by teleporting or running away before u whack them
Good info. I will add that the Quill Rats and all its variants have a higher chance to drop mid to high runes compared to other non-ghost enemies. So running Blood Moor, Tamoe Highlands and the like is actually a decent place to farm for runes. Nothing beats Cows and Travincal of course, but that gets boring very quick, so try to mix it up with the Act 1 areas and Arcane Sanctuary as well for the ghost packs and superchests.

Shoulda bought a lotto ticket this day… found a jah and a Lo in two separate chaos sanc runs lmao and in single player online. People still don’t believe me to this day but idec I’m happy knowing I may have some of the best luck around
So far, I've gotten 1 Ber, Vex, and Cham just running around Acts 4 and 5. Ber and Cham were random drops in the Chaos Sanctuary. The Vex dropped in the Worldstone Keep. Still looking for that elusive Jah though. Interestingly enough, I've gotten around 6 or 7 Mal runes and one Ist from the Countess just in the past month.
from my mf experience i can say that mid-high runes, can drop anywhere, anytime, on anything. like poppin a rock, pot, corpse. best to farm lvl85 areas with chances of high lvl unique items drops and runes will drop too. no calculator will calculate your luck
Phil can you make a video guide on where to farm gear in nightmare to get better gear for your character before going to hell difficulty?
Start with Andy or Mephisto. I don't know if quest bugging Andariel is still a thing in D2R, but she should be the easiest regardless. Mephisto can be cheesed with the moat.

There's usually a few champion ghost packs just after the inner cloister waypoint. Jail lvl 1 always has heaps too.
There are so many videos on this already. I think even did one similar to this already. Honestly, the best place to get HR is Cows and Chaos on P8.

I edit a character and gave him lvl50 fire/cold/light aura just to move around and insta kill mobs in single player,I also made an excel tabel and give some values to the runes drop,for example tal 0.1 point ral 0.2 points and so one.After 50 runs I had a final score,and I did 50 runs with a lvl80 50 runs with a lvl85,90,95,99.Its seems more level you have the drop rate increase alot.The value of the runes drop for example at lvl95 its altmost 6.x more that at level 80 while at lvl99 its 11x.The player level have big impact in the rune drop,a player at lvl99 can find more and better that a player at lvl80 even if he play in 8 player grup :) second and this may be strange and also weird. Necro minions for some reason have better drop,I think this can be a bug and when minions are in game game drop act like it was player 8,or at least when it come to runes. I did 100 cow runes with every class at same level as a test,and Necro with minions find altmost 3x more runes not necesary higther that any others but alot more.
Necro was prilly just rng bro. The while game is rng. Drop rates don't really matter. It's all about luck of rngesus.
50 runs is far too low of a sample size. You'd have to get into multiple 1000's to be able to start to rule out the luck factor.

I got insanely lucky a few days ago, and found a Jah Rune from a Hell Clan at the Arcane Sanctuary while solo online. Probably the only HR I'll ever find in my entire life lol.
yea but to hear the credit card warriors tell it, they "legit" found all their Hr's to make last wish, infinity, enigma, hoto, cta etc. list goes on . Ive met tons of them in game and all of them deny that they are credit card warriors. even tho these guys are level 80 and we know they didn't do 10,000 MF games to find those runes.

for farming solo, there's no beating cows unfortunately. Its the density of the area that gives it the edge overall IMO.

I play solo on bnet. I always kill all ghosts farming hate keys. Finally paid off when I had a Ber and vex drop yesterday
the 1st high rune I found was a zod in chaos sanctuary on a player 1 game and I still have it collecting dust in my stash since 2-3 weeks after d2r launch, I never found a good base to make botd

quill rats have also increased chance for runes. Somehow, they are not shown for Jah rune, but for Ber they are.

For those who can’t find players 8 games, the item find barb is for you. Rolling an Item
Find Barb with max item find and potion find nets right around a 75% shot at loot.
Item
Find is t based on the players in game; rather, the percent chance you stack on the skill. So slay on and enjoy players 8 loot by yourself. Does not work on bosses or super uniques ala Shenk, Nihlithak etc.
Looted an Ohm Rune from a ghosty in Chaos just yesterday.
So are you saying that with item find it doesnt matter how many players are in a game? And you can get hrs from item find by doing solo runs?
@@user-mj8kn4bw2x Absolutely! It’s an amazing skill. Just be selective on what you hork…ie ghosties, Champs, Elite packs. The loot is calculated with the skill chance, not players in game.

magic find does not change rune drops.
@@Runescape. Find Item is not magic find. It is a skill that bypasses the players count and awards max drops per monster solely based on the % chance for a drop that you get from the skill.
It doesn’t increase rune drops directly, but it increases the chance of a drop from monsters that are more prone to drop runes…thus increasing your chances to see a high rune drop.
I got a totally random Ber rune from a random mob my merc killed while looking for the ancient tunnels...as like o.0, lost city might be worth a farming vid tons of density in places.
This is a widely spread and accepted piece of information, but I do not believe it to be true, at least not with the way drop calculators work on basically every other website/game. You have a video that is fairly good evidence that it isn't, 8 hours and sweet bugger all from ghosts, all from other mobs. People who claim to get such great results from arcane would get the same results after enough time playing anywhere else of the same mob density and mlevel.
You can see similar high drop rates on websites like WoWhead for World of Warcraft, where you will see some mobs have an insanely higher chance of dropping a certain item than others around them, but then when you go and kill them, you aren't seeing the rate that you expect, because they simply have a smaller drop table, and when the item selected to drop from that mob isn't in it's very small drop table, it simply drops nothing. A mob dropping nothing isn't taken into account with the % drop, it is only calculating the drop rate based on when they *actually* drop something.
I believe the same is occurring with whisps/ghosts etc. I have farmed arcane for hours upon hours and also farmed other areas that do not have ghosts. They have, over the many years of playing, been roughly the same drop rate of runes in the end.
Ghost/spectres/whatever you want to call them have a smaller drop table, which means *if* they drop something, it is more likely to be a rune than other mobs. This doesn't mean you will actually get more runes from them though compared to the same amount of other mobs. They have the same chance to drop as other mobs around them, the reason why it shows higher is simply because a lot of the time they just simply don't drop anything at all (due to the smaller drop table).
I.e.:
Example spectre has a drop table of only 10 items. Example other mob has a drop table of 30 items.
You kill 1000 example spectres, with only 200 of them actually dropping any loot. Of those 200 that actually drop loot, 10 runes drop.
You kill 1000 example 'other mobs', 600 of them actually drop loot. Of those 600 that drop loot, 10 runes drop.
Both mobs have a 1:100 chance of dropping a rune per kill, but if you base it off of the amount of drops (which most, if not all drop calculators do), the spectre is 5% or 1:20 and the 'other mob' is 1.667% or 1:60
The above, going by drop calculators, makes the example spectre look amazingly more likely to drop a rune over the example 'other mob' - but in reality, it's the exact same chance, and the 'other mobs' don't have the same chance of being in a position where their loot can't even drop.
Going by life experience, not only with playing Diablo 2 since before LOD was even a thing, but also with dealing with loot drop calculators across many other games, spectres/ghosts/etc have a *lower* chance of netting you a rune, as they have the same drop chance per kill as other mobs but with the added issue of loot just simply not dropping at all, even whe n the drop falls within their shortened loot table, because at the time of kill they were flying over an area where loot can't be dropped.

i swear souls have the best chance of dropping ber and jah, was doing public baal runs one night, a soul dropped a jah and i went to tele to it and i died and someone else scooped it! i was mad! Legit the NEXT night, a ghosts dies and drops a BER and I scoop it up without dying! It was crazy! I've never seen a ber or jah drop in a public game in my life!

World Stone is also a decent place to farm if you can take a beating. Great density, fairly big and easy to navigate. Souls don't even phase me anymore. Those undead dolls are what I fear, lol

@@tehf00n It can be a tough place to wrap your head around I think. Often times people are conditioning themselves for MFing and focus on MF% and kill speed, forgetting there are other aspects to the game that are built in to challenge and make you consider the area you're farming and the approach you take. It really is a great place. Definitely never boring either, haha.

Hey guys what do you think about full clearing LK on players 8 in Baal games I seem to be finding a decent amount of Low runes mid tier runes a couple high runes there this week. I kill every creature and click every clickable.
It's a good way to farm runes but a dick move to people running baals for exp. unless you can get back to town when the tp is up.

Why probability for rune drops is indeed higher on players 8 it comes with extremely unfavorable logistics. You need a really strong character to keep up and also have to deal with other players and their greed as well.
I mean my budget build cold sorc can farm most places in players 8 I was doing it on his stream while ago ... I was in chaos
