Wow, ive been playing this game since i was like 6-7 and never knew you could upgrade items like that. D2 has taken over my life again and im learning so much from you. I really appreciate these videos!
Perfect Skulls are important. Rare item + 6 P Skulls and you will reroll the Rare item stats. Good for Rare Diadems/Circlets rerolls for +2 all skills + 20%FCR
you forgot to mention that you need a char width damn high char level to do this. The item level will be 40% of your char level + 40% of its original item level.. so its getting lower with every role.. down to ilvl 40 if you are 99

Answer #1 I really have been enjoying Diablo2.io It it so very easy to search and use for resources. Unlike a lot of the other websites I end up searching for a long time to find what I want. #2 by name mainly. I have them all memorized at this point but you can also tell by other factors like damage, defense, level requirement ect. When you see an armor that has 400+ defense you know it's probably a hell armor, or when you see weapon with 250+ damage you know it's a hell weapon. Lots of things like this come into play but you can also memorize the names of the items. For instance Halberd = normal Bec-de-corbin = nightmare(exceptional) Great poleaxe = hell or elite version The Diablo2.io website is great for this but there are many others too.

yo, I just tried the upgrade recipe on "the spirit shroud" armor from normal to nightmare, no dice. Tried shael + tal + perfect diamond. Found another youtube video complaining upgrade is not working, are we missing something? Found the item in act5 normal
"Exceptional Body Armor - The Spirit Shroud (Ghost Armor)" The recipe you are using is for normal -> nightmare/ exceptional You need to use the exceptional -> elite/hell recipe for that piece of armor. To convert an Exceptional Unique Armor to its Elite equivalent: Use a Lem, a Ko and a perfect Diamond in the Horadric cube with the item you wish to transmute.
@@ciupenhauer it doesn't specifically say that it's an exceptional armor. However the picture is that of a quilted armor, and that particular armor only has about 19 defense so when you look at the Spirit shroud and you see that it has way more defense than a regular quilted armor which is the normal quality version you know that it has to be a higher quality version of than normal. Another indicator is the level requirement normal quality uniques do not tend to have such a high level requirement. Normal difficulty act 5 can produce low level nightmare uniques. Basically you got lucky
Remember that weird time back in the day when chipped gems were going for ridiculous prices - worth more than PGems and were shortly used as the currency? I remember seeing "Nigma 4 40 chips" games. Those were good times.

Im a stage 5 compulsive hoarder, so was wondering if gems from chipped to flawless are worth hoarding, like say for charm rerolling, which seems to be changed from chipped to pgems. Or is better to just save a "few" in supply?
Chipped and flaweds are good to upgrade runes with. Otherwise upgrade them to perfects by using the horadric cube. 3 chips to one flawed 3 flaweds to one normal 3 normals to one flawless ect.
No unfortunately not, best bet is just play the game flawless gems drop all the time, and you can transmute three of them into a perfect. Or hunt for gem shrines to upgrade a single gem one tier up.
Also maybe level up a bit if you're struggling. I finished Normal on level 48 - I didn't repeat any areas but did use players 8 for most of it (offline).

I see no legitimate excuse as to why they don't allow upgrading them. And they can't use set-piece bonuses as their excuse.
They can now, 2.4 woo
@@Sweetguy1821 we can now upgrade set/green items?
Can someone please show me how to know which item is normal and which is nightmare? hardly to know which is which in order to upgrade them :(
I gotchu man, I am uploading a video right now on how to tell the difference =)
@@GGMentor thanks a lot man. That will help a lot for newbie like me. So confused with the normal exceptional and elite upgrade stuff
Unbelievably helpful video
glad to be of service
great tutorial! only you did it! Thank you From Philippines
No problem my dude 😎
You probably answered this but Can you upgrade items with runewords in it?
No runewords items can't be upgraded
@@GGMentor ok good to know, thanks broski
Much love to Mr. NINI. And much thanks to GGM for teaching an old dog new tricks.
How do you aquire the chinchilla companion?
He is my buddy, I raised him from a little baby =)
I think i shall upgrade my NM ceremonial Titans Revenge Jav. Worth it for jabazon? I think i have one Lem and one Pul
More worth it if they are ethereal, but you can do regular ones too.
Keep in mind the strength and Dex requirements will increase.
could i upgrade something like stealth splintmail?
Runewords can't be upgraded unfortunately.
Can you upgrade or make set (green pieces) better?
No unfortunately not, set items are stuck at there intended quality.
@@GGMentor it was my first time going through normal and I used my free socket upgrade on my set piece chest :0 did I screw up?
@@cflowxbox it's not the most optimal use of the quest but if it help you out it's ok.
Low level items can be good to socket for use later with other low lvl characters.
For instance twitchthroe is a very nice lvl 16 armor and I socket it and use it with all my lowbies.
How do you know if an item is normal, nightmare or hell quality though
th-cam.com/video/G-Pb4wqWQoc/w-d-xo.html
Down the rabbit hole you go sir 🕳️
Really good
great video thank you, do more with more crafting!
This is really handy.. Cheers mate 👍😃
is there a way to downgrade unique from nightmare to normal, I made a mistake upgrading tearhaunch and now I cant use them because it requires too much strength
No once they are upgraded they stay upgraded.
Stumbled upon your content by chance, listened a bit and enjoyed it wholeheartedly.
Very useful stuff right there.
Also - Kind Sir - your voice is damn mesmerizing!
Kudos and all the best to you :}
Thank you sir glad to be of use
yo, I just tried the upgrade recipe on "the spirit shroud" armor from normal to nightmare, no dice. Tried shael + tal + perfect diamond. Found another youtube video complaining upgrade is not working, are we missing something? Found the item in act5 normal
"Exceptional Body Armor - The Spirit Shroud (Ghost Armor)"
The recipe you are using is for normal -> nightmare/ exceptional
You need to use the exceptional -> elite/hell recipe for that piece of armor.
To convert an Exceptional Unique Armor to its Elite equivalent: Use a Lem, a Ko and a perfect Diamond in the Horadric cube with the item you wish to transmute.
@@GGMentor dude, thanks! But where does it say it's exceptional, I remember finding it in act 5 of normal level.
Basically you got lucky
does prevent monster heal work with sorc skills or hammer or bone spear
Never knew this. Thanks
Remember that weird time back in the day when chipped gems were going for ridiculous prices - worth more than PGems and were shortly used as the currency? I remember seeing "Nigma 4 40 chips" games.
Those were good times.
I remember I would take a buncha lowbie items and go to newbie games and trade em for chips.
Thank you. I knew there was a reason to save them
You can upgrade the goldwrap again from battle belt to troll belt for 4 more potion slots. I think is Ko, Lem and another p diamond.
troll belts and battle belts both have 16 slots. there's no belt with 20 you troll ;D
Trolling with a troll belt I see
Can you upgrade/craft the small gems into larger one's? What are the small chipped etc used for?
Three of any level gem turns it into the next level
@@frankb1383 thank you!
You can use the chipped ones to recharge charges on weapons like javelins or curse wands or you can use them to upgrade low level runes.
@@henrynguyen3965 as someone who spent a ton of money on a staff with teleport charges.. thank you lol
man i remember in d2 classic that 5pskulls and 1psaphire on a weapon was good enough to pvm hell. lol not so much anymore. i also hold the pskulls for rerolling diadems when i trade for pgem packs from other players.
Normal/exceptional/elite items aren't necessarily tied to normal/nightmare/hell btw
Yes, correct.
Well this is great info, cuz my normal drops were great, but my nightmare items have been kinda crap…
very informative, cheers
What was that creature that jumped on your shoulder?
They are called chinchillas, very amazing animals I have a playlist of them here if you want a closer look.
th-cam.com/play/PLMSHEYBEG_OMch3hSPo1zUiuuqgBNNu1-.html
They are sort of the channel mascots
Im a stage 5 compulsive hoarder, so was wondering if gems from chipped to flawless are worth hoarding, like say for charm rerolling, which seems to be changed from chipped to pgems. Or is better to just save a "few" in supply?
Chipped and flaweds are good to upgrade runes with. Otherwise upgrade them to perfects by using the horadric cube. 3 chips to one flawed 3 flaweds to one normal 3 normals to one flawless ect.
Save your chip gems. Dont upgrade cause you’re going to need them later to upgrade runes. Chip gems are harder to come by in hell.
@@justdl I usually just run a new character through act1-5 walking and grab as many as I see.
When items are upgraded the level requirement shown on the upgraded item may not be accurate.
I am out of rubies, can i make more from other perfect gems, in the cube?
No unfortunately not, best bet is just play the game flawless gems drop all the time, and you can transmute three of them into a perfect.
Or hunt for gem shrines to upgrade a single gem one tier up.
Hello I have a question.
Currently I'm playing a level 40 paladin and I'm on ACT3 nightmare. What are the strongest skills/abilities ?
Look up hammerdin or smiter
Blessed hammer by far
Also maybe level up a bit if you're struggling. I finished Normal on level 48 - I didn't repeat any areas but did use players 8 for most of it (offline).
Can runeword equipments be upgraded to higher versions? Like i have an insight nightmares scythe, can it be upgraded to hell version?
No unfortunately runewords, and set items can not be upgraded.
Only rares and uniques.
what about a Unique shield?
can you upgrade SET items?
or sockedet items?
You can only upgrade or up tier any unique items (gold) AND rare items (yellow).
No you can't upgrade set items much to the dismay of most players.
Yes you can upgrade uniques and rare items.
Great content
A lot more too 🤣
Does anyone know if you can disable melee attacks? Got an ethereal weapon I don't want to swing with.
Assign a spell of any type to that slot.
Or if your on controller remove the melee attack command.
@@GGMentor ahh ofcourse! thank you.
Larzuk can full socket a pair of gloves then you can add them and make the infinity gauntlet.
Lol we were just joking about this on stream the other day. 🤣
@@GGMentor blizzard needs to make this happen!!!!
Do you know if you can upgrade a unique ring?
Even if you could there is nothing to upgrade to.
Rings and amulets are not like other items there is no Elite or exceptional rings.
@@GGMentor damn. I was hoping. Thanks for the information.
Can you do a video on how to upgrade shield, gloves, belt, and boots? Thank you for this video.
I talk about that in this video is there a specific recipe you needed?
Was that a Tyreal's Might in your stash, or a Melebragas?
Lol milabregas I was recently using the full set on my low level conviction paladin. Great lowbie set if you have all the pieces. Plus it looks amazing in d2r so sexy
