Wish I heard this before I went with my heart before my head. I went about with no expectations, no games, not looking for anything and ready for what comes. I was just flowing with the current of the waves, until a big wave came and swept me under. You’re right about when you don’t know what you want, you’ll end up taking what you’re given. If you don’t have a plan you become apart of what someone else has planned for you.

It’s certainly tricky to navigate between your heart and your head but if you listen closely, your intuition will guide you. Though it isn’t particularly easy to turn off emotions, you’re gut will eventually override what you think you want

So true. So wrong. Stolen dreams by lies and sleight of hand.

As a sidenote - I think this has happened to many individuals. They are not in the mood or looking for some thing and they have what they think is going to be fun and it really ends up being the undertow. That just means that you have far too much content to be that casual. Just saying… That's actually a compliment.

Don’t do it, or at least, don’t do it anymore!! Stop it!! Fight your OVER-GIVING nature!! Stop mommying a grown man!! Stop finishing “raising” him to a full grown man. It’s sad.

"That's not the connection connection. That the feeling you have of excitement of 'my god i've finally found someone i'm attracted to that wants me'" haha so true.

Omg this. Woman. Is soooo smart! The way she can articulate exactly what we grapple with in dating and how the key is knowing YOURSELF. Thank you Susan for expressing how important the tools of language, tone, nuance, and clarity can unlock doors in our partners and ourselves! I am beside myself that I finally found you. Bravo!

I really needed to hear this today. I dated someone for 7 weeks, was just about there in terms of intimacy but I still had questions about some of his family related issues. I wasn't moving fast enough for him...and on my end, I wanted to observe his family situation a bit more. I'm so glad that I held out. It's sad because I really liked him...but in the end, waiting was the right thing to do. Thanks so much, Susan. I've been feeling bad about myself for holding off for those 7 weeks....since most people I know are hopping into bed within the first week or two after meeting someone.

Dont feel bad. I always ask myself “do u want something authentic that lasts with a good match, or just something that feels good now”? All those friends hopping on fast are going in and out just as fast.

Love d story about ur contractors son. Making men wait is not a game, u r helping both parties think through if this is what they really want. My mom made my dad wait a year even though he was dashing, tall and very successful young man. They r happily married 40+ yrs later. I made my ex wait and we got engaged before he passed on (😢) . Its not a game, u just want to find a right match.

After watching , you mentioned intamacy as the last part in a loving relationship. I think you've hit this perfectlg . We, myself , who strives for my loving, lifelong mate. The climax , intamacy, which bonds us for life, is something that takes time, well worth towards making the best bond. I hope someday I find true love.

@@frankdapkus3749 frank, I agree that that's the right way to do it. I think we all tried to be modern for a long time and these are the repercussions. For some people rapidity works. But for most people, the physical makes people attach long before they know what they're attaching to

I love listening to you and your logic. I've made all the mistakes, too. But, I don't waste time any more. I filter the players - just got one out of my hair - a pretty boy with a line of baloney about chemistry, blah, blah, blah. I want to get married, he was gone. No problem. Bye ... Felicia.

It's reasonable to expect to see medical test results before you begin a sexual relationship with someone
