Bradley Gregg use to rent at the Blockbuster Video I managed in Scottsdale AZ. I knew who he was the first time I saw him because I love this movie. You could tell he just wanted to rent a movie and not be talked to so I never brought anything up...... until Blockbuster wanted to move me to a different store. Once that was in play the next time he came in I talked to him about Nightmare 3, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and of course Class of 1999. I asked him what it was like working with Pam Grier since I have always been in love with. I could see some happy and some sad faces as he remembered... He teared up when talking about River Phoenix who was a good friend. As he was getting ready to leave he stopped and said "this whole time I had rented I thought you had no idea who I was"... I said "nope, I knew it the whole time"..... he smiled and that was the last time I saw him. (I rambled... It looks like an excerpt from a book I wrote or something....)
Class of 1999 was one of those movies I saw when I was under the age of 14 and was watching HBO at like 2am when they used to play anything from the back catalog. Barely remembered the title and thats why I love coming to this channel. It was like a fever dream of childhood memories but this movie stuck out so clearly as some quality schlock. The spanking memes will never get old either.
Truth. I think all of us have our own favorite "HBO at like 2am when they used to play anything from the back catalog. Barely remembered the title"! Mines are: Shinjuku incident, New Police Story, a movie about people stranded on a movie set island with murder robots there, some movie about a girl being haunted maybe by a haunted camera or cellphone. I all I remember was she seeing spirit monsters all around, like in the bus or on a walkway Don't even remember how those were called! but the fever dream of childhood memories stuck with me.
You know what's crazy? Look at Democrat run cities like Seattle, Portland, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, ect ect and you will see this has all come true. Those places are dumps in real life now.
Saaaaaame. I thank my cousin (his parents actually) for paying for HBO. We had cable and HBO early on but gave it up because of costs and because it was deemed a bad cultural influence. Fortunately I could still watch weird stuff at my cousin's. I remember when we saw watched this, some of those deaths hit hard, like the first broken neck. Partly it was so shocking because I was somewhat more sheltered from not having HBO or Skinemax. We caught Total Recall on cable before giving it up but the action and violence was over the top. It wasn't a high school kids getting killed.
For a scary moment I thought you wouldn't include the spanking scene, then I remembered whose channel I was on and figured it would be saved for the end. And you didn't disappoint :-D another great video
@bigevilworldwide1 Waxwork 2 did have that great scene near the end where they were fighting and jumped though multiple worlds one after the other, if only it had more of that.
Now *that* is one schlocktastic anthology! You can actually find _Class of 1984_ uploaded onto TH-cam at a good resolution too! It's a great punk-rock exploitation flick! th-cam.com/video/NBBFnU7aXxE/w-d-xo.html .....And _Chopping Mall_ is 'free to watch' on Amazon Prime!
Yeah. . . I had EXACTLY the same thought. Well, not precisely. Mine was more along the lines of "Laddie. . . don't you think should. . . *rephrase* that?"
DUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE I WATCH YOUR VIDS SINCE YOU HAD THOSE IMAGES AS AN INTRO NOW I KNOW WHICH MOVIE IS AND YOU BET I'LL BE WATCHING IT TO SPEND MY QUARANTINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@DANK he only got locked up as a scapegoat because he was given so much attention that the powers that be couldnt save him even if they pulled in all their resources. Theres hundreds of people in similar related positions of power there that are just as bad or worse that you'll never hear or read about.
I just watched 1984 and 1999 back to back today and I gotta say, I love both of these movies! The violent settings, the widespread punk attire worn by all the gangs, and the fact that 1999 takes place in Seattle, making me way excited to spot landmarks and location details since I am from there! I have no idea why this movie isn't brought up more often here. The fact they took over a whole neighborhood and a high school to commit sheer chaos and insanity is AWESOME.
I totally agree with you about Mark Lester. One of my favorite action directors. I would love to see Disney hire him for a Punisher film with a modest budget.
Man, everytime I watch one of your videos I go three minutes in, then I have to pause it, look for the movie, watch the movie, and then return to finish watching the video.
Always loved this movie it's very well done and not "cheap" looking. You can tell everyone involved had a blast. Been waiting to see you do a video of this one, keep up the good work!
Recently visited my friend in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle. One afternoon, we took his son to a local park. While walking by a high school in the nice, upper middle class neighborhood, I suddenly remembered that Class of 1999 was filmed in Seattle and checked to see where it was only to find out it was THAT high school right in front me! Unfortunately, no vicious street gangs or robot educators to be seen, but it was cool seeing the setting of a classic B-movie.
You know what's crazy? Look at Democrat run cities like Seattle, Portland, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, ect ect and you will see this has all come true. Those places are dumps in real life now.
This movie is such a great nostalgia trip. I remember seeing it late night on HBO. And the fact that Nine Inch Nails had just started getting heard around that time made the sound track so impressive.
Class of 1999 was one of those movies I probably shouldn't have seen as a kid, but I loved anyway. This is the first I'm hearing of Class of 1999 II. I will look for that.
THANK YOU! I been waiting for this review since 2015 since you always used clips of it on your old intro. I even facebooked messaged you asking where the review was several years ago. This is one of my favorite films growing up and you taught me several things I never knew about this movie.
My girlfriend in high school and after had rented this at some point in the early 90s. I was a film nerd but also loved b-movies and she told me about it one night in 1993 or ‘94 when we were 19 or 20 years old. She was honest and actually accurate about it and told me it “interesting”. Based on that and my love of cyberpunk stuff and the rest, I rented it, loved it and super lucked out when either a Blockbuster or Hollywood Video less than a year later were selling off their previously viewed copy which I grabbed. It’s nearly always unfairly underrated. Cool flick. A lot of fun.
I remember this movie when I was a kid, I loved it. I just watched it again, it is here on TH-cam to watch for free, just search class of 1999 and it is like the first result. Watch this movie it's cheesey greatness!
0:20 I've been crazy lucky in my life, I've watched thousands of films which I'm extremely grateful for. Despite that, this channel is always a good source of rare and obscure films. Some I've seen and should watch again. Some I've never heard of, followed by tracking the hidden gems down. Ahhh, the life of a movie addict! 1:59 Talking of hidden gems, Prison (1987-8) is a chuffing awesome idea for a horror. You have the horror of prison, plus a supernatural aspect. It's basically horror on top of horror!!
THANK YOU! I vaguely remember watching this at my aunt's house when I was about 10 (no wonder I grew up to love horror so much) and have been trying to remember the title of the film for almost a decade!
There's also a easter egg from "They Live" from John Carpenter in Class of 1999 , the "Obey" "Kill" "Learn" stuff seen in the school . The red car was stunning in the movie kinda also reminds me to another John Carpenter movie based on a Stephen King novel "Christine" the car in Class of 1999 never got destroyed only shows some bullets maybe it has a connection between each other ? Or done just randomly . Sadly movies like these we will never have anymore today and in the future . The 1975-1995 era were the best times to make movies with an intellectual mind and with being free . People had billions of ideas to make us the viewer entertained . The 1996-2000 era was the fahrwell and transition years and the downfall from those golden years . And as for 2000-2020 nothing really new got made hence the modern technology that has advanced i agree but nothing to make your jaw drop with a big "WOAW" coming out from it . Everything today gets way too much replicated , there's too many remakes that gets already remade in not even a year , silly re-imaginations which ruins the whole movie already . And as it isn't enough we have those Netflix movies/shows that offers nothing interesting and is also the same over and over . Movies back then gave us many messages ( many things that are real today ) people needed to read between the lines and even watch a certain movie more than once to comprehend the real meaning . Todays movies gave no more wise messages anymore all they do since these last 15 years is placing tendencies and hate ( politically correctness, feminism , lgbtq, sjw's , vegans, whatsoever ...) which make it impossible to watch a movie or a tv-show seriously and with entertainment and joy .
Turns 30 today! It's like Terminator meets Breakfast Club. Perfectly paced, action packed and violent, great makeup FX and explosions and gore, and the set design is awesome too. This was a nice surprise.
Such a great, fun movie! I loved Class of 84 (loved Alice Cooper's song too!) and expected more of the same, so 99 blew me away. Both great movies but entirely different reasons!
Class of 1999 is a great movie. I remember renting it way back when it came out in 1990 at my local video store here in London. Love the effects. I'm not a fan of the sequel, but it at least had an interesting premise. Keep up the good work
That Nine Inch Nails part BLEW MY MIND!!! I loved that song so much in this movie, but I had no idea NIN was so fresh when they shot this movie. Lol. I'm so glad he covered this. I've been waiting for this since I 1st saw his opening montage including with the robot spanking the kid. I immediately knew what that was from and I've been waiting ever since. Lol. Thanks again.
I've always considered the movie "The Faculty" a spiritual successor to Class of 1999. 🙂 Seeing it that way made me like the movie even more as I love Class of 1999. The robots scared the crap out of me at my first viewing of the film. 😂
Ah yes, The Faculty. I remember that. The poster outside the cinema basically gave away the bad guy. All the primary characters get a freeze frame with their name written on screen. One isn't on the poster. I pointed it out to my then girlfriend. She dumped me for the spoiler. (She dumped my about three times a week for about six months).
Your reviews are always amazing. You always find ways to add to the movie and make it even more interesting (than what it usually is) Your enthusiasm for the work is captivating (no, I am not related to him) And we get some trivia info which we wouldnt otherwise get

First saw this when it came out, I was 9 and wanted to go to the theater where it was playing at my local mall but never got the chance. When it came out on VHS I played the shit out of it and when it came out on HBO I recorded it and watched it all the time. I thought Cody was the definitive of cool lol and I was obsessed with the song at the at of the credits, "Come the Day. When the hammer falls." I guess this was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Right next to RoboCop. The 80's man lol, nothing like them, till the 90s 🤟
Thank you again, Cecil! Yet another schlock classic that made the rounds on late night cable. A couple of beers, pizza and laying down on the couch wearing sweat pants. Ah, the good old days!
You reviewed this one years ago but it’s great to see you revisit it and this review is probably even better giving all the experience you’ve had since then! You should try and redo all the episodes you did that are lost, you know the earlier ones
I remember watching the part where the robot tears his arm offnto reveal the rocket launcher on tv in 1995 when i was 6 andnit took me until 2012 to find this movie
As someone who once played airsoft in an old abandoned high school in iowa durring the winter. You would not believe how cold the interior of the building gets. We had to go outside to get warm.
Nice episode - you really do your homework! I loved Class of 84, Commando and Showdown in Little Tokyo, but unfortunately I felt that this movie was a bit unfocused and it lacked likeable characters. The setting were awesome though :) I am looking forward to your next video. I would love to see a top 10 of your favorite movies of all time :)
The other night I also rewatched I Come In Peace. I loved that movie when I rented it as a kid. It's been over 20 years since I seen it and it was also a great movie I'm finding all these old B Movies on TH-cam
I watched Commando, Armed And Dangerous, Class Of 1999 and Showdown In Little Tokyo a million times as a kid. Love those movies. I just recently watched Truck Stop Women and thought that was great. I think Truck Stop Women could be remade now and be a big hit.
While we're at it, gotta appreciate how great both of those posters are! The 1984 one reminds me of an American Graffiti poster. I especially like how the legs of the students in the 1999 poster look like tears or smeared makeup on the cyborg's face.
Bradley Gregg use to rent at the Blockbuster Video I managed in Scottsdale AZ. I knew who he was the first time I saw him because I love this movie. Amazing man! Very fortunate and a great story. Awesome to hear. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for that cool story!
But what did he rent?
This is cool, thanks for sharing
that is a pretty good story
I grew up in Seattle and this movie was legend. Being a kid it was a thing of prude to know it was made your town. Such a rad movie.
Class of 1999 was one of those movies I saw when I was under the age of 14 and was watching HBO at like 2am when they used to play anything from the back catalog. The only thing that would of made that scene funnier is if the kid said, "Thank you sir! May I have another?"
Had some friends over and we all had a grand time watching this recently. Was in a 4-pack with Chopping mall, Waxworks, this, and Waxworks 2.
Wow, all cracking movies. To anyone who's not seen the Waxworks films they are amazing fun you should "take a closer look".
Wow Waxworks was cool af Haha
@bigevilworldwide1 Waxwork 2 did have that great scene near the end where they were fighting and jumped though multiple worlds one after the other, if only it had more of that.
All four of those movies are a blast!
Now *that* is one schlocktastic anthology!

"They don't make movies like this anymore."
Damn straight! I'm really interested with this film! I need more classes like this one! :)
"For the principal's daughter and love interest..."
Maybe should have worded that a little differently.
No, there's a reason the film almost got an X rating.
Yeah. . . I had EXACTLY the same thought.
Well, not precisely. Mine was more along the lines of "Laddie. . . don't you think should. . . *rephrase* that?"
DUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE I WATCH YOUR VIDS SINCE YOU HAD THOSE IMAGES AS AN INTRO NOW I KNOW WHICH MOVIE IS AND YOU BET I'LL BE WATCHING IT TO SPEND MY QUARANTINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lemme stop you right there
@DANK he only got locked up as a scapegoat because he was given so much attention that the powers that be couldnt save him even if they pulled in all their resources. "Can I use your prison, I'll give you this tv"
"Yes"
It really doesn’t feel like it should be that easy.
Maybe it had the VCR-combo?
I just watched 1984 and 1999 back to back today and I gotta say, I love both of these movies! I love the amount of work and research that gets put into these vids. Awesome work

Man, everytime I watch one of your videos I go three minutes in, then I have to pause it, look for the movie, watch the movie, and then return to finish watching the video.
I actually saw this in one of the secondhand theaters as a kid and thought ridiculous yet fun and action packed. 👍
Always loved this movie it's very well done and not "cheap" looking. You can tell everyone involved had a blast. Been waiting to see you do a video of this one, keep up the good work!
Thanks!

You are always the shining beautiful light is this dark world! Thanks for making the quarentine fun!!
Grew up in Seattle and class of 95. Never heard of this movie before. 🎬 will have to watch it now.
As someone who graduated in 99, I can confirm the accuracy of this movie.
I graduated in 84. I can assure you that the film's thematic prequel displays an equal level of historical accuracy. :)
I got out just as they were bringing the robots in. My gang never should have flayed that teacher...my bad.
You know what's crazy? Look at Democrat run cities like Seattle, Portland, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, ect ect and you will see this has all come true. Those places are dumps in real life now.

PEPSIMAAAAAAN!

Thank you, for each and every video you ever made for us!
When Stacey Keach tells you he has an idea for a character you damn well give him the money to pull it off.
There's also a easter egg from "They Live" from John Carpenter in Class of 1999 , the "Obey" "Kill" "Learn" stuff seen in the school .

I made Cody's gun out of paper towel rolls and wore a torn shirt around my head when I was a kid and now as an adult 💅
Huh
I’ve been waiting for this! One of my all-time favorite films!
One of my all-time sneaky faves. Thank you man! As a tween I knew I'd graduate in 1999, so my and my friends thought OH MAN THIS WILL BE US DUDE
Keep up the good work
@Duke of Haphazard to clarify the sequel I refer to is Class of 1999 2 the Substitute
That Nine Inch Nails part BLEW MY MIND!!! I loved that song so much in this movie, but I had no idea NIN was so fresh when they shot this movie. Lol. I'm so glad he covered this.
You always find ways to add to the movie and make it even more interesting (than what it usually is)
Your enthusiasm for the work is captivating
(no, I am not related to him)
And we get some trivia info which we wouldnt otherwise get
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words :)
I am so glad that you finally decided to review this bro I always see this quick little snippet of class of 1999 when the teacher is giving corporal punishment in the beginning of all your reviews but this is the first time that I seen a review from you about it this is been one of my movies that I grew up with I've watched it numerous times bought the movie numerous times I'm so glad that most of the ideas in like action sequences we agree upon and there is about 60 to 70 per-cent of information that I found out today about how the movie was made so thank you very much for that really good movie and I love your reviews and let's keep the THE GOOD BAD FLICKS coming thank you.

Right next to RoboCop. The 80's man lol, nothing like them, till the 90s 🤟
Love this movie. I still have it on VHS and I watch it frequently. Good job with this, you did it justice.
Remember watching this on sky movies with my mother way back.. Good Times 😊❤️
Can you do Screamers please =) Your video on Nothing But Trouble is one of my favorite youtube videos!
Cant beleive i actually first saw this as a kid..this and Fritz the Cat..my dad is sure missed 😟
I've been meaning to watch both those films.
Here, don't tell the authorities...:

No Rick Roll, I swear
Hey, I often see you comment on Dr shaym's post
I remember watching this late at night on HBO back in the early 90’s
They use to play this on USA all the time in the 90s. I always mistakenly thought it was part of the substitute movies.
You're not alone in thinking that! Haha I had the same thought when I was a kid.
I remember watching the part where the robot tears his arm offnto reveal the rocket launcher on tv in 1995 when i was 6 andnit took me until 2012 to find this movie
I love your work it's like going to the movies and going to school but fun like really fun :D
I remember watching both films on vhs back 1993-4 at Kevin’s. We got a kick out of films like this and were always watching these videos.
This movie has one of best lines in cinema, "I trust him like a vampire giving me a B******".
You're allowed to say "blowjob" on the internet
Dracula 1992 inspiration right there
@Duckie Alexander Nah.....it sucks.
@Derek Pegritz I'm from PGH. Tho I didn't go to Ceremony until it moved locations into Oakland. Good times for a while.
I've always loved this film and never knew any of these details. What a pleasure!
This was one of the faves of my childhood. By far the most adult movie I owned.
Just watched this along with class of 84, enjoyed both good retro action fun, cheers.
Wonderful job Cecil on talking about a personal favorite film of mine!
What a bunch of cool easter eggs, Rose McGowan, NIN, etc... Thanx!!!
Another great "Exploration" and suggestion! Thanks my man! Found a great BluRay quality stream right here on the TubeYou's!
As someone who once played airsoft in an old abandoned high school in iowa durring the winter. You would not believe how cold the interior of the building gets. We had to go outside to get warm.
Big fan of both these movies, Thank you.
I was hoping You will someday make exploring video on this awesome movie, great job as usual, love Your channel!
Love the new / old school GBF intro.... I miss seeing those.
This was one movie I didn't get to watch back in the day that I always knew about.. I just finished watching it in 2020 and it was pretty awesome
The other night I also rewatched I Come In Peace. I loved that movie when I rented it as a kid. It's been over 20 years since I seen it and it was also a great movie
I'm finding all these old B Movies on TH-cam
00:45, love that movie! That film was badass!!
try to get permission to use NIN songs in your soundtrack for 100$ today.
And, what year did Quake begin to rock the FPS genre?? Holy Smokes. NIN was hot shit by 1999. iD got Trent, at least...
I feel like Trent Reznor would do things cheaply if he really cared about it. That dude’s passion is legendary.
I watched Commando, Armed And Dangerous, Class Of 1999 and Showdown In Little Tokyo a million times as a kid. Love those movies. I just recently watched Truck Stop Women and thought that was great. I think Truck Stop Women could be remade now and be a big hit.
Gotta Check Out The Wraith And Maximum Overdrive If You Haven't!!
Thanks for this re-upload GBF!!! I own & love this film, & hope to see you hopefully, at some point, re-upload Motel Hell & Society, as well.
Awesome Exploring episode! :D Still have to say that I LOVE the new intro! Keep up the good work! :)
I graduated class of 1999. I can confirm this movie is legit.
Cool! They also drive around in a super cool Buick Riviera 👍🏻 Great detail 👍🏻🏴☠️🖤
This was my favorite movie when I was a kid. Still love this movie.
Finally the old intro back
Yes, yes, YESSSS Cecil! Always providing us with quality content even during this uncertain time!
He never fails
@@trustobey1016 Cecil is a saint. :)
You FINALLY did a video of a movie I requested a long long time ago. THANK YOU!
Oh hey I actually saw Class of 1984 yesterday! I really enjoyed it, will be watching this one soon.
I literally was waiting for the whipping scene and still Roflmfao'd!!! I remembered it in ur old intro! Ah, how time flies.
I was class of '98. Things really went downhill after we graduated.
did they had cyborgs in your time?
I used to watch this nonstop as a kid! good memories
I like the new video introduction. Keep up the hard work! 👍🏻
Thanks to this video class of 1999 is now one of my favorite movies!
Awesome!
This movie and dead alive are my two favorite movies of all time
I have been waiting for you to do a video about this movie. Thank you!
Opens May 11th?! My birthday! No wonder I love this franchise!
I remember watching this movie in middle school music class.
This movie is so awesome
I recently rewatched it and it's great!
It would have been a waste to tear down an iconic piece of film history so we’re glad it got saved for generations to explore
I remember Class of 1999 II: The Substitute as being shown on satellite when I was a kid but i swear it was called just The Substitute on the guide.
Yes. I remember this was one of the original GBF videos
Yup. This was one of the lost episodes.
Got to admit, I love this guys filmography.
Just watched this movie right before this, must say, why did I not watch this as a kid.... I loved it!!
Thank you so much for your the video
I love is classic movie 👍
While we're at it, gotta appreciate how great both of those posters are! The 1984 one reminds me of an American Graffiti poster. I especially like how the legs of the students in the 1999 poster look like tears or smeared makeup on the cyborg's face.
I have been waiting for you to do this for a long time. I have seen clips of it in some of your openings for a while
Great movie! Thanks for the awesome behind the scenes info!
I remember watching WPHL 17 in Newark NJ.
