    Jamie's Stir Fry Recipe:
    Cilantro
    Red and Yellow Bell
    Squash (zuccini)
    Portobello Mushroom
    Garlic and Green Onion (and Ginger!)
    Chilli pepper (or serano)
    Beef fillet tips (or whatever cut you choose)
    Sesame Oil
    Honey
    Soy Sauce
    Olive oil (Canola or Peanut oil are probably better choices. Higher smoke point. More neutral flavor.)
    Sobe Noodles
    Squeeze of Lime
    He changes it up in his recipes and I suggest you do the same. Make what you like. Make it often and then you'll make it damn well.

      +TheMasterCylinder Most people don't know who Marco Pierre or Gordon Ramsay are (I fall into that category :D) since they don't need to know. All they need to know is to be able to prepare some nice meal for themselves or the people they care about. This is exactly what Jamie teaches. If you want to be a five star pro chef then you have to go and spend a couple of years in a higher educational institution where you will learn all you want but even there you will learn only the basics for what is to come in a life as a professional chef. I really love Jamie and what he's doing. I love how he tries to teach people not only how to cook but also how to improve their lives through cooking healthy meals.

    May or may not have just practiced this on my bed with a hunting knife and notebook. had nothing to chop up but i got the motions right
    seeing a lot of comments about how none of the students will shut up while he's cooking, and i'm like, why? most of what i was hearing were "wow"s, "holy shit"s, and other such mumbles of amazement and admiration, and when they weren't gawking, they were commenting about what jamie was doing, saying stuff about the flavors and how jamie's not chopping his fingers off. besides, they weren't loud, jamie wasn't talking, and there were moments of silence.

      No, if is not a question, shut up until it ends. You may not understand it. Get in a professional kitchen and you'll get me. Jamie said that he is not going to talk because he wanted their attention, every-single-move must be watched and learned before saying "wow" "holy shit". But, well, they just have 16 years, they can't stop sayin' stuff. Other ppl would get grossly pissed off and just bitch slap everyone 😂

    • @Nick_CF
      @Nick_CF 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      on a personal level it wasn't that bad but I like to have silence when a teacher or master is doing a demo. When we would have demos in my art classes and machinist classes it would be very annoying as a student trying to concentrate completely on what the teacher is doing while others continue to make comments (related or not) that are ostensibly irrelevant and chatter. It is always breaking your focus so I look at it as showing a bit more respect for the other people trying to learn. I also am a no non-sense kind of guy when learning things...I want everyone to shut up and just stop socializing and place all focus on the task at hand haha

    I've had mixed emotions over Jamie in the past but to see him here, in his element, not being steered by the network ninnies, I'm impressed and I learned something, even though I do know all the "skill drills" demonstrated here.
    As far as the students trying to go faster and trying to learn to go fast in prep for anyone, it's the same with any developed skill, from cooking to running thru a shoot house in the military.
    Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
    Instead of focusing on faster, people should focus on smooth and even, no matter how slow you have to go at first. Speed comes as a matter of course. Repetition trains muscle memory and creates new neural pathways. Those bring the speed, not yelling in your mind's ear to hurry the f$@! up.
    Get the proper technique down even though you are currently the slowest person on earth and you'll be zipping through slice and dice like Jaime in no time. :)

    My grandmother cooked for a living and she started teaching my siblings and myself when we were in elementary school in the mid 1960s and one of the first things she taught us was how to hold a knife. From seeing the way some these students were holding theirs I don't think they were taught yet. I picked up different cooking methods throughout my life in the Army and in South Korea and one of the best things I learned was don't be afraid to try things. Take this basic recipe and use different meats(chicken, pork, beef) and you will get a different flavor each time. Don't be afraid to try different herbs and spices and change them up once in awhile. A bit of nutmeg is a nice addition to a pasta dish. I also make my own season mixes.

I must have watched this video 10 times through now! Great stuff. I wish he would do a more comprehensive youtube video on different knife cutting techniques besides the main 3 demonstrated here (cross chopping, tap chopping, and rock chopping). He mentioned that there were more, and I'd love to learn them all! I really hope you're reading this Mr. Oliver! =)

  • @mouija1450
    @mouija1450 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jamie Oliver has talent for cooking, but a real gift with leadership and charisma. He can get you fired up and confident in yourself with only a minute or two of talking. He uses positive reinforcement to build people up mentally very well. They may be dismal cooks, but at least they leave feeling self sufficient, understand the basic principles of knife technique and have one decent recipe under their belt. They may still order take-away most nights, but they have the ability to make a simple, delicious dish when the time calls.
    Back in 2007, my girlfriend made me potato pancakes for my birthday in November. It's not a difficult dish, but it's my favorite. We got married in March 2009. I'm dismal at cooking with heat, but she's been on a salad kick lately and I took some time to slice up tomatoes, cucumbers and accidentally figured out how to chiffonade with lettuce. Lettuce ribbons seem fancy when you buy food, so I thought for a second on how I could easily make lettuce ribbons and rolling them up and cutting seemed like the most efficient method. She was really impressed and thankful that I did all the prep for her. Small things like that reinforce the marital bond.
