And when Jane said "it's his first ever zombie," I imagine them taking a photo and sticking it on baby(-face) Leon's milestone photo album next to his first walk/footsteps.
Really love how nineties everything is! Full of authentic 90's dialogue Marvin: "you need to save yourself!" Leon: "I'm not leaving without you!" Marvin: "man you are such a Ross" Leon: "could I *be* any more of a Chandler!?"
it says 'episode 1' and they started from the beginning so I'm guessing that's what they intend. I mean, they've already played this game to death in so many different forms, I think the only option left to them is just a full playthrough.
"Ma'am... ma'am, I need to see your library card... ma'am, do you know how to use the Dewey Decimal system?" is NOT what I expected to hear in a zombie survival game XD
About the whole zombie cure thing, at the end Resident Evil Vendetta (the animated movie) Chris and Leon disperse a city wide cure for the zombies, only after they massacred an entire hallway full of zombies and destroy half the city with a rail gun. Apparently the movie is also canon so there ARE cures, they just don’t utilize them until they’ve had epic zombie kills.
It's post-game, Leon is at home with a cold beer writing his diary. 'Dear Diary. Started my new job today! I'm a cop in Raccoon City! AWESOME! ... Right up until the freaking zombies rose up and started trying to take over town. I mean, that's almost as bad as Gwen 'I broke an asteroid and unleashed a gaseous sex alien monster thing on Cardiff!' Cooper off Torchwood. Almost. Did get to use a rocket launcher on a massively hench uberzombie though, so that was cool, I guess. I did ask how and why the local cops had a rocket launcher, but they didn't say. Think they know more than they're saying - must investigate. Can't wait for tomorrow!'
Maybe I missed something, but I am not seeing a single bit of evidence to suggest that Leon is actually a cop. I'm starting to think maybe Leon isn't even his real name.
i'm convinced they modeled new baby Leon after that one picture of Jensen Ackles wearing brick pants, a tire jacket, and thirteen layers of cherry lipgloss
Leon: Hey! Anybody in here? Your dying buddy pointed me in here! Cop: ''Huh!?'' *turns around. Zombie falls on top, biting him* AaRrGgH! Leon: ''Oh! My mistake. It's...pretty dark in here, um...Sorry to intrude.'' Cop: ''Ahhh! No, it's not what it looks like. Come here, give me a hand.'' Leon: ''Um...no. It's nothing to be ashamed about. Don't worry, I'll leave this out of the police report. Enjoy your night'' *Leon never gets a response* Leon: ''Bit rude.''
What amused me when I started this up for realsies was when I looked at the sheriff's car from the other side before going into the store, the driver's side door was parked right against a metal bollard preventing it from opening. Somehow that cop arrived at the scene, parked in a hurry, realised he had blocked his own door, scooched over to the passenger side to climb out there (after leaving his keys in the engine of course), left the door wide open, then proceeded into the store, managed to safely manhandle a zombie and incapacitate it by bending it's arm behind it, then his last act was to let go of said arm to wave a civilian back instead of just _saying_ "get back". I guess proper gesticulating is a higher priority than holding a maniac down securely... Which of course leads to Leon coming out of the store and somehow opening the driver's door despite a bollard blocking it from inches away. I can only guess that there must have been a quick cut of Leon _pulling the car forwards a foot_ while surrounded by zombies so he could get in.
Maybe the sheriff had someone on the passenger seat, who also got out (isn't the guy pointing Leon to the storage room wearing a regular blue cop uniform)? In his hurry the sheriff put the gears to Neutral instead of Park, also forgot the handbreak and so the car could roll backwards blocking the drivers door. That guy the sheriff was pressing against the wall, was in the process of turning, finished zombiefying exactly when that idiot arklay sheriff turned arround to Leon. Finally Claire pushed the car forward again, preparing an escape route before checking out who fired the shots inside the store. There, case closed!
"Get your own knife!". Don't give them ideas, Andy, last thing you want is a shambling horror trying to eat your face off while simultaneously shanking you in the ribs.
Claire - "I'll meet you at the police station" Leon - Immediately locks the entrance to the police station when he gets there. I'm sure she'll get in... maybe.
For some reason I thought of that movie The Mist when they mentioned this, a movie that I kind of hate and would probably take a shotgun to my screen if I ever watched it again I hate the people in that movie lmao
First Alfred Strangetide, now Leon? What’s with turning full grown adults into babies? Is this ramping up to the Oxbox Daycare Center for Adults? Also, if that’s a thing, what’s the going rate? (Asking for a friend...)
I've heard Andy complaining about not being able to set the brightness high enough but every other playthrough I've seen looks brighter than this. I don't know if I'm hallucinating or if Andy doesn't know how to set up the brightness haha.
They might have to do it post production. The has a few areas that are quite dark, and the MC's only use flashlight if it's dark enough. Makes for more tension but affects streaming viewability.
Marvin: Even though it's the zombie Apocalypse, it's still nice to have some quiet time alone with my thoughts. Leon, every 5-10 minutes: Marvin! Marvin! It's dark! It's scary! There're zombies! Marvin: Being a zombie is sounding better and better.
"It's that thing you have in American convenience stores where you stack the fridges from the back." How the hell do you stock them while customers are wandering around?! Seriously, mind blown...
Fun fact: return of the living first introduced the brain eating zombie, as well as betraying expectations when killing them, severing the head or destroying the brain did nothing to them.
If the heads don't crit burst the first time you down them then slash one of their legs off so they can't get up again (or shoot one off to begin with...). Also the knives wear down very quickly when you use them to force off a zomble but very slowly on downed zombles. Also check the map more and try out all the doors in a room to see if and how they are locked.
I was trained in how to set and detonate C4 and it is very true that shooting it won't set it off, it needs both heat and pressure combined to cause it to explode. You can even put it in an oven and it won't go off.
Good thing is, if this whole TH-cam-list-making-and-video-game-commentary thing doesn't work out, you guys have a solid idea for a zombie movie. In which the hero is confronted with his/her crimes and finally realizes the real monster, were the humans all along...
Hooray! You guys finally got to this! Been watching all my other favorite YTers play this. The original has some interesting memories for me... Also, good to hear Andy and Jane again. It's been a while since I've watched OXB and OXE. Just wanted to say...your beard is GORGEOUS, Andy! Don't listen to Ellen, you are absolutely DASHING! 💗

This is one of my favourite Oxbox playthroughs ever, and a huge reason I bought the game, ironically just as Covid hit the UK. So a game about a disaster caused by deadly viruses was sort of apt. Back for a rewatch for Spooky Season 2024!
I was almost going to buy this game. Then I saw a stream where Mr. X was chasing you everywhere and I noped out harder than Jane at a peace conference.
I worked for an insurance company in the late 90's. They had a typewriter because it was the only way to complete an on-demand emergency insurance card; the printers weren't set up for the form fields.

The scary thing is that given enough time in extreme enough conditions (war, zombie outbreak, whatever) with enough stress and coupled with outside pressure, anyone can be pushed over that limit. Anyone.
Andy: Oh look it’s that thing they have in American convenience stores where you stack the fridges from the back. Me: Wait, aren’t all gas station stores like this? You don’t do this in England?
The intro scenes look like the sort of thing, we might see in the proposed Resident Evil tv series. I don't think there is better commentary for a playthrough then here at Oxbox. Keep up the great work guys.
I've noticed that when Andy and Jane play together, they tend to treat human characters as pets (I'm thinking this, State of Decay 2, etc.) and animal characters as people (Sims Cats and Dogs jumps to mind). Listen to not just what they say, but how they say it (raised voice at the end of a sentence to make it a question, for example). I thought of this a while ago, but this video really reinforced the idea to me.

It’s pretty late but the answer to Jane’s question is yes. In resident evil vendetta the zombified people are turned back…at least those who have not been killed until then 🤔✌🏻
A possible explanation for the locker keypad system is that allows them to have an electronic record of when each locker was opened. But also it’s residential evil, so not all security systems are rational
