- VN24 - Unna / Germany - Driver and passenger of a box van were seriously trapped in their vehicle in an accident on the A1 motorway near Unna. The accident occurred on Monday around 12:47 o'clock, when the driver of a panel van with a car transport trailer obviously overlooked the end of the traffic jam towards Bremen, which had formed in front of a construction site. A tractor-trailer combination and a small truck came to a standstill when the transporter apparently drove onto the small truck almost unbraked and pushed that onto the tractor-trailer combination. Rescue crews had to use hydraulic tools to free the life-threateningly injured occupants from the driver's cab. Both were airlifted into trauma clinics by two rescue helicopters that landed at the scene of the accident. The driver of the small truck was taken by ambulance to a hospital. Several high-resolution images were taken by the officers using laser scanning for accident recording and investigation work.

I'm sure the Germans were very precise in sorting out this incident. Their wreckers look pretty exotic to American eyes.
They are standard five and ten tonne wreckers. We have several companies here with them. Usually used for semi-articulated lorry (semi-trucks in the U.S.). The van was picked up with a truck similar to a Jerr-Dan (a type of flat-bed tow truck used in the U.S.). Safest way to transport a vehicle that badly wrecked.
Think the video name is a bit misleading two were trapped ..

I do like the way that the government over there are not afraid to spend mega bucks on road trauma vehicles such as huge trucks rather than small dinky toy ones and clean uniforms well trained staff including helicopters and debris removal trucks all done quickly and efficiently so as to get traffic moving again with minimal delays. well done government and politicians other Countries should take note like Russia for example ☑️🇦🇺
Are those government owned or private companies? The tow trucks and cranes appear to have company names. Some of these recoveries seem to take a very long time as the sun moves across the sky. The shadows can be seen on opposite side of the vehicles at the end compared to where they were at the start.
They are private companies. Some of the rescue/salvage costs in the hundreds of thousands of Euros. Some of the medical care is costless (kostenlos), but the helicopters are provided by Automobile clubs, the first one up was by the All Germany Automobile Club (ADAC). P

The driver and passenger of the van got life threatening injuries (the two helicopter were for them), the driver of the 7.5 to got into the hospital with unspecified injuries
On the left if you don't in large the video VN24 put write up's in English for us, but the injuries are said to be life threatening Mick.

@James Campbell. Plus eating a burger at the same time, - so only one hand is on the wheel. - Burger put in back by break-down crew, - along with what was left of the front panelling of the vehicle.

What I would like to know is how they release the air brakes? The Brakes are held off, by pressure, and as you press the foot pedal is releases the air in the lisnes and the brakes spring on,, So if the /engine, ipso facto the air compressor is not working, how then do they let the brakes off?
they can release the brakes from the brake chambers.
They can also hook up an air line from the tow vehicle into the towed vehicle.

Die beiden beteiligten wurden einen Tag später fast unverletzt aus den Krankenhaus entlassen.
@@j.e.2113 Kann nicht sein, dann fliegt kein Hubschrauber die in die Klinik. Die fliegen nur, wenn es wirklich auf jede Minute ankomt. Warum? 2 Gründe: Erstens fährt ein Krankenwagen deutlich ruhiger, als ein Hubschrauber je fliegen kann. Zweitens ist in einem Hubschrauber extrem wenig Platz. Das sind entweder BO 105, Eurocopter oder Bell UH1D (wenn BW). Wenn dann ein Notfall eintritt (Herzstillstand, Kreislaufkollaps) müssen die Landen, um lebenserhaltende Maßnahmen einzuleiten. Herzdruckmassage z. B. ist in einem Rettungshubschrauber einfach nicht möglich. Vielleicht gab es ja noch mehr Verletzte. Z. B. in dem LKW. auf den sie Aufgefahren sind.

Typisch Sprinter-Fahrer - vor x Jahren ist mir auch mal einer in die Seite geknallt. Der Fahrer hat sein Fahrzeug während des Fluges durch die linke Seitenscheibe verlassen .... keinerlei Mitleid: nicht angeschnallt XD

Do two things , you will save lots of life, A- reduce the speed limit,...B- put big yellow sings on the highway saying speed kills( i say 4 feet by 4 feet sign)...if that worked send me some money that you saved over costing to clean the place after bad accidents !!
