  • The BMW X1 does a lot well but makes you pay through the seat of your pants. Who makes the fewest lemons? And Cooley runs down the hottest electric cars out of the gate in 2016.

    I bought the X1 and this guy is exaggerating on its ride quality. Yes, the ride is on the firm side, but it does soak up road imperfections well and still offers a solid feeling, comfortable ride. Maybe he opted for the 19 inch wheels, which could make the ride even more firm. I got the 18 inch wheels.

    he is absolutely correct the biggest thing why I am not going back to BMW ( I was owner of 08 X5) is the stiffness all around but my worst complain is seat as he put it like seating on the wood bench. despite there high price I can get HUD after market for 30$ on ebay just plug and play to your OBD reader and you have it. Unless BMW come up with cushy seats I am going to GM.

    As always, I love these videos because it has Cooley and his reality checks like at 5:23. Work and Target, lol. Thank you, Cooley, for keeping it real. HOPEFULLY the rest of the industry realizes this and some of us can get our soft riding soft roaders back while the rest of the enthusiasts can have their firm, PITA suspensions that transmit every puddle and pebble to their bottoms. I'd be fine with a BMW X1 that has an actual comfort mode for the suspension. That would spell heresy in just one more way and I would sing that song all day happily all the way to the dealership.

    I thought Brian would've talked about MINI more when reviewing the X1. This X1 is the first BMW to be based off a MINI, because the new Countryman will be the exact same as this X1. Should be good.

  • @TheRangerover05
    @TheRangerover05 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    2 mos into the X1....I love the seats!!!! After leasing a Caddy XTS I like the stiffer seat. I only drive this in city driving. Perhaps if I drive to SanDiego I might dislike it. Power is great! It is fun!!!! But make smart choices when picking options. But want to be seen in a RAV?

    • @HealingQueen
      @HealingQueen 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed! I also commented on the hardness of the seats during the test drive, I think this offended the seller a bit..nice to know I wasn't alone. I've also had mine for nearly a month now . 1,500 miles later the seats are a little broken in and the cold weather package has heated seats which makes them even nicer. The nav system leaves a bit to be desired I ended up using my cell phone. Trouble with the cd player not working making an audible clicking sound,, I was told this could be a glitch but I'm taking it into the shop this week,, I'm a previous Honda Civic owner, great car but just desired an upgrade-

    The simple reason for Tesla's success is the look of the cars (as well as the performance).
    Why do almost all car manufacturers feel the need to make their cars look like something somebody from the 1960s would have thought cars in 2050 would look like?

    One of few quality reviewers. So so few mention suspension and how horrible it is (in most cars today). Every car is supposed to be "sporty" from normal hatches, to SUV, to trucks... Its completely ridiculous. This X1 should be comfortable and it wouldnt matter if it leans in corners, its not suppose to be driven like a sports cars. Unless you buy a car with air or the hydropneumatic from Citroen and such... youre getting a stiff, uncomfortable ride in most cases.

    I still don't get why car makers make their electric cars so boring and ugly. Tesla seams to be doing it right they look good, get amazing range, and are packed with features. The model 3 is going to make everyone look silly. Just look at all the pre-orders why would you get a bolt or leaf instead of a Model 3? Tesla is just on another level even though they released their patents and the other manufactures have the money and capability to build good cars, it just seams they really don't want to or they are just bad at their jobs.

    BMW the worst car I ever had. Bad painting, corrosion on all 4 alu wheels after 3 years car was washed every week. Problems with lights 3 exchanges per year minimum. Front lamps are not water proof. Head rest too short. Engine chamber has on wheel arc tree big holes where water can go into engine. Engine start to be noisy after 90 000 miles above 1600 revs. This is not a car this is disaster. I forgot problems with front windows visible traces from pull up and down mechanism on both front windows. I was statistically once per month to repair something. I do not recommend at all. And on the end. BMW post service cannot be worst most people from staff believe they do not work there they are kings and their customers are their slaves. Shocking.
