    You have a large audience, do a video on valve adjustment for the hawk and the pit bikes. They all need it guaranteed and they will run better. Should get decent views too. That is probably one of the most ignored maintenance items on any brand bike but these all come from the factory with next to zero clearance.

    10:55 bright side of that is sure you may end up spending as much as a new brand name bike in the long run but you end up with a reasonably high quality bike built to your liking , it's a bike you can truly make your own whilst spreading the cost across a longer time without dealing with loans.

  • @Xaltar_

    Bikes like these are a great starting point for people wanting to get into fixing/upgrading their own bikes. The first thing I would do is pull the motor and strip it down, replace the pistons and rings with better quality ones and possibly have the cylinders bored out and sleeved. Go big or go home, take on every performance upgrade you can afford and do as much of the work yourself as you can. Far too many people today have no idea how to look after their kit let alone repair it when it breaks. You can get even better upgrade prices if you buy a wrecked higher end bike and harvest the good parts from it, breaks, suspension, maybe even motor/trans. Most bikes are written of by insurance if they have even the slightest frame damage that could remotely compromise structural stability and handling. There are numerous bikes out there that could be fixed for next to nothing or at the very least stripped for parts and used as upgrade donors.

    These bikes are built with such tight tolerances and the parts come from multiple manufacturers. Breaking in the engine insures that all of the metal filings that are over tolerances get flushed out properly as to avoid getting them stuck inside of your bearings and ruining your engine.

    The ending statements of this video ring true. I got the apollo for my son's first bike, he's 9 and he can almost touch the ground on it. Its been a great bike for him to learn on. After 5 tanks of fuel being ridden out of it, the only think we have worked on is adjusting the chain and putting in a throttle stop to give him a hand keeping it under control. An experienced rider wont have a lot of fun on those cheap bikes, but they are great to learn young on.

    Dear Sir-Great videos! My 13 year old Chinese 2 stroke motorized bike motor crank shaft bearings have no races. They actually create their races during the break in period. This was stated in the owners manual and emphasized by the company that I bought the engine from. I rode it under 18 mph for about 500 miles to prevent catastrophic failure of the crank bearings and have logged over 1000 miles on the engine. Then again, I never drive "Pepe" over 18mph, and run quality 2 stroke oil at the break in ratio of 26:1-my .02-John in Texas

  • @SuperRunnynose
    @SuperRunnynose 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey when you checked compression did you open the throttle? Also the max compression is not much of a concern. It’s more about how it gets there. It should get to it’s max compression in 5 strokes or 5 compression cycles. If you keep turning the motor over they will keep going up in compression pretty well even if there is an issue but they will not build pressure quickly if there is an issue.

    Dude, I just bought a tao tao db-17 125cc for my girlfriend, and i had the exact same problem with the clutch way out in left field on the adjustment from the factory. The stock carb is f***ing garbage also, looking into a Nibbi.

    I had two brand new Yamaha mt125’s broke it in how the manufacturer advised, the other I went against advise and rode how I want the bike that I rode with no “break in time” was considerably faster than the first one

    One engine is a loncin and other is a lifan. I was a dealer for both companies for 8 years. Still have a few bikes kicking around that run like new. If u are handy guy can source parts and keep em going for years. If you want to buy and ride without doing any fixes then don't buy. The Tao has adjustable rear rebound btw look for the piece that rotates at the bottom of the shock. Apollo always looked better even the 250s looked bad ass but Tao quality is much better as well as parts availability. Just my 2 cents

    The difference in these motors power are the cylinders a carbs which u can basically almost take a 50cc and use 52.8mm bite and make it a 88cc they are same motors just diff bore sizes and stuff

    Lol, my son has one of those Chinese bikes but it is made by Gio and the engine looks the same with the same PZ27 carb. Can be a real pain but when running runs well. There is a dealer nearby but my son bought a 250 cc Suzuki instead and the Chinese bike just sits now.

    Great video, thank you for your honest reviews. Could you do some videos showing how to set up the carburetor? I replaced mine with a "mikuni" but am having no luck getting it to run right. Was having variations in idle speed sitting by itself, Bogs out when given throttle quickly. Now it won't start at all. Loved the bike. Now I just want it to run.

    With that big a shop... I am chocked that you not have more common mechanical knowledge.... Or a compression tester 😅...
    Clutch slip on those small primary clutch engines are common.. (the nut was for clutch adjusting).
    Still love your show 😂😂😂

    ***if it's hard to pull or kick start its definitely water on tip piston. Water cannot compress. Stand it straight up an let water run out, and it should crank right up. If not still just take the head off
