Note about Crux SWRFD-60L harness adapter. If you have "Sync" (look for that emblem on your center console) the steering wheel buttons will not function even with this harness. This info is stated in the installation guide and I called Crux and confirmed I could have just used a basic harness like Metra 70-5520
@@edwincordero8 No. My car had 2 connections in the dash. The Metra connected the radio to the big connector. The smaller connector must be just steering wheel controls which is what the Crux connected to
@Provo Beast Audio Installation, if i want to upgrade my speakers and perhaps add a sub and steering wheel audio control should i get the upgraded harness ahead of time? Also do you have a guide for the steering wheel controller? 2007 ford explorer sport trac.
@@ProvoBeastAudio That's one of the questions yes. The wheel has the cruise control on the left and nothing on the right. The other question was should i spring for the upgraded harness if i wanted to install both a steering wheel control and a sub later on.
No, you buy the harness to the options equipped from factory in your vehicle. Adding SWC will require you to also replace and install a new clock spring, wiring etc. If adding a sub, no need to buy a premium harness as the radio will provide connections to a sub anyways. Sure, you can use the Pac harness, but you won't use most of the features it provides. @@mr.silver5476
Does the system also support controls for the DVD Player because I have everything it's a limited edition subwoofer and DVD player for the rear passenger does this system support all of that?
The Pac RP4-FD11 retains audio for the rear seat entertainment (RSE) package but your radio needs some sort of audio input on the rear of the head unit. The Pac instructions outline it here: catalog.pac-audio.com/index.php?controller=attachment&id_attachment=1519
Does this radio automatically turn off when u turn off the car to? Or is there something else needed for that? With my 2008 ford explorer my default radio is automatic but when i install different radios it ends up killing my battery even with the car off and nothing else plugged in.
Sounds like you have the factory amplifier and it's not turning on. Depending on what harness you used to install the radio, be sure to hook up the remote turn on wire.
Parts used linked in the description of the video!
Man that new radio looks so nice and clean in there.
It does!
That little mount kit is perfect makes it look clean
Excellent video. Got all the same parts you listed and everything worked perfectly and I retained steering wheel controls.
You get the 6.75 inch or the 7 inch?
Great job guys! Looking forward to upgrading my trusty 2006 Explorer!
Good video with good information. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
This is the exact install I want for my Explorer! Can you suggest a very similar head unit that has a physical volume knob?
Super cool and helpful!!!

Did you keep the steering wheel functions using the Metra 70-5520?

Hey stupid question but are you saying I should use a different adapter then?
@@BULLETFARMER Yes but I don't know what brand still allows the steering wheel buttons to work on a "SYNC" radio
Nice thanks for sharing ❤😊
I have the sub in the back, but no steering wheel controls. Which harness would I need?
If my ford didn’t come with the steering wheel controls, can I get the part and have it function with something like this?
06 Explorer with the factory sub here… I see you only plugged the purple in, and left the geek unplugged. What is the purple for?
My 2008 AWD Premier Mercury Mountaineer has Satellite and Sync Controls how can I get that to work with that radio also?
What about fishing through the mic for the phone?
Just got my 2006 ford explorer and the radio stoped working on me hopefully I can use this video!
Mines a 2010 and yeah stopped working for me too😔
Do u know what side off speaker ford explorer have like 2006 for explorer
Does cruise control and the fan controls still work along with the volume controls on the steering wheel?
Great video
Thanks!
Is it the 6.75 or the 7 inch one?
Help?
Where did you get the plastic from for the usb mount. Thanks in advance
Why will the air bag. Explode ?
What if we're not lucky and it's not colour for colour?
That sucks
Great tutorial. Is this the only model that will fit the 2006 Ford Explorer?
Any standard double din will fit the parts used.

Are you asking if you can add the steering wheel control buttons on the steering wheel later if your vehicle wasn't equipped with them previously?

You need a higher quality battery, silver or above I think

This is a cable that is not installed correctly. Had that problem once. One workaround was connecting the key that turn on the car to power the unit
