Eink tablets are expensive, anywhere from $300 to over $700 just for the eink tablet itself. If you buy eink you're making compromises immediately because that technology is not, not, the same as an iPad. Thing about RPP I was most hesitant is the dedicated pen. I was really worried about losing that one very expensive pen, didn't want to replace from loss. But I love love love how strong the magnet is that keeps the pen to the tablet and I'm not worried about losing my pen now. I've got RM2 and RPP. I love them both. The upgrade isn't needed it was wanted, for the color but mostly encryption for my work docs, and I love it!
If you want to use a Remarkable for study, i.e. reading full-size PDF textbooks and making study notes, the Paper Pro is a no-brainer for me. Textbooks - especially scientific ones - look great on the 11.8 inch colour display, and colour really makes a difference when taking notes. I found the backlight pretty useless - when studying it’s at my desk or on the sofa with a bright reading light.
I want to get a tablet to replace my Franklin Planner for work. Going to meetings taking notes, and saving information. Its seems like a lot of money for the Paper Pro to do this. However, it appears I need to spend extra money for a full year calendar to take notes and organize my week. The color option and having a pen that does not wear out as fast, nor get lost as easily makes the Pro version is a plus. Also the faster refresh rate. I personally wished they came out with a Remarkable 3 that was still black and white but had a faster processor, more memory and a pen tip that last longer. I welcome your insight on what might be a better option for me.
I've used the RM2 for a few years to replace my many 9x6 notebooks and paper planner..and I've loved it! I use it daily and my only complaint has been the lack of color. I'm probably going to buy the RMPP to try it out, but I'm concerned about the larger size and the grayish background compared to the very white RM2. I've watched lots of reviews now, so i guess I'm going to have to buy it myself to see which works best. I'd love an RM2-sized device with color..but i have no idea what their roadmap is
Yeah, I feel you on the size. On the one hand, it's actually really useful feeling less cramped when I'm writing up my daily to-do lists. On the other - it takes up more space on my desk now.
With the new Beta release its testing an update to the contrast feature to now separate the contract between the words and pictures, so localized contrast and treats them differently I how it renders. Also you can now add pages to your PDF’s however right now it looks like it’s limited to their templates. They are slowly implementing the changes customers have been asking for over the years very frequently since its launch.
Grea review. Very helpful for me in deciding which model to go for. I prefer the size, screen and price! of the RM2 but I would love colour and like the extra storage on the RMPP. Has the storage on the RM2 ever been an issue for you?
No, Amazon would have to release a Linux version of their app compatible with the remarkables implementation of Linux. The ball is in Amazons court and although the remarkable is selling well it is very niche. It is also guaranteed to add to remarkables support overhead which I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t want to do.

Is adding pages to pdfs, also possible with remarkable 2? Or that's just for paper pro?
Thanks for this clear review. Makes it easier to make a decision of which tablet to use☺️
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
@@trustedreviews would you recommend the Type Folio?

Definitely a solid concept, but still too hard to justify the price for an Ink Tablet.
Does it support the Amazon kindle app ?

No, sadly not. You can't install third party apps on it at all.
never try to save and buy the older version of anything
