Something I love about the way Brian coaches is that he meets his players where they are. Doki was playing modern and calling spd her triangle so Brian booted up modern gief, figured out the controls and started giving her advice like "Use your triangle here." He asks eskay if she's ever done an uppercut input and she doesn't know what that means and then he explains and she says "Oh it's an electric." then he starts calling out DPs to eskay by saying your electric. He's not dumbing anything down, he's teaching fundamentals and focusing on the best things for his team to learn in the time they have and he's doing it using language they can relate to. Top tier coaching.
Seconded. I tutored middle school kids for a few months, and that was the same thing that I found worked to help things stick: finding out how they framed information and giving them the chance to build from there.
So true. A lot of people that I see try to coach aren't willing to meet new players halfway and also rush straight into doing long and complex combos. Fundamentals are always the most important aspect of any fighting game imo. Doesn't matter how fancy your mix ups or combos are if you can never land them or understand when to use them.
doki was such a big menace most coaches trained their first seeds to just not jump ever at all on day 3 and doki still lost to one of them jumping all the time which was kind of hilarious
Who is Brian? For the blind, He is the vision. For the hungry, He is the chef. For the thirsty, He is the water. If Brian thinks, I agree. If Brian speaks, I am listening. If Brian has a million fans i am one of them . if Brian has ten fans i am one of them. if Brian has only one fan then that is me . if Brian has no fans, that means i am no longer on this earth . if the world is against Brian, i am against the world
Best part of the slam? Seeing Brian die inside every time someone says "I wanna coin flip for sides" I got the feeling he just wanted to grab them by the collar and shake them while screaming "SIDES DON'T MATTER IN STREET FIGHTER. GODDAMN TEKKEN PLAYERS"
@@magicalgirl1296I'm still wondering how is more difficult for Doki to do 'forward + triangle' on the right side but can perfeclty do 'back + triangle' on the left side which is literally the same input.
30:37 the best part is that Brian’s like, unironically correct Her natural instincts are actually insane, any new information she learns should be more about the tools in her arsenal and not about general game states and such
Dude, this event is the best thing to happen to the FGC in a long while. So many fun new content creators I never knew about before. And it’s so relatable to see them progress from knowing nothing to having some serious bouts in such a short time span. It’s amazing!
Technically she was playing Chun for most of the prep work. She switched to juri at the end with like 10 hours. At that point in the slam Chun was her main
I gotta say, I know Sajam has been doing these type of events for long but I've never paid attention. I gotta say, that including people from other communities in the FGC and bringing people like Brian, Nephew, JB, Justin, seeing the coaching sessions and watching how they improve and boost on themselves has been a treasure. I love the banter, the laughter and the Brine! I hope we get more and more!
I’ve had this video on since I got to work 8 hours ago and I watched the whole thing in between working and my breaks….absolutely enjoyed the whole thing…I’ve been keeping up and it seems like u guys have really created a unique “father and child” bond between each other over the weeks and brian ur coaching style seems like it makes it so much easier for them to learn the game with using THEIR terminology to explain things and keeping what ur trying to explain as simple as possible…I’m rooting for your team and shines team to win it all…good luck to you guys! Win or lose I hope everyone on your team continues to learn and play street fighter after this is all over
Rewatching these Round Robins, I’m amazed at how well Doki is so good when she doesn’t know what she’s doing. 16:05 is insane and next round her decisions are correct while screaming "I don’t know what I’m doing !" . As for the coaches match, I’m ride or die on the "I don’t care who they are, I’m gonna beat them" mentality. The only match that felt like "okay we’re gonna need to learn this guy" was JB,however I still think Brian could’ve beat them all. Not as he has a chance to win but as " I believe 100% my coach can hang in the ring with these guys and beat them". There’s not a single match in my mind I think it’s un-winnable.
I've watched all the VODs and streams, what's impressed me the most is how accurate his coaching is...Doki and Eskay etc...don"t always execute his in game coaching. But it's always spot on if they'd followed you could clearly see how they could've won.
The whole team put on such a great effort! If I had to mention one thing in particular, it'd be Koe's super nice A.K.I performance. Also, Doki using SA3 on opponent's wake-up.
Doki would drive me mad I gotta be honest. She has no filter lol. edit: Don't get me wrong I really like her, she is great and fun but I don't think I could hold it together as well as Brian haha.
Yeah, Doki 100% one of those people that i love watching streams of, but would tilt me to all hell if I had to interact with her for real 🤣 (I say having watched her for more then 4 years)

Seeing Brian lock in during the coach games with the most Looney Tunes ass conversations happening in the background is hilarious
Doki: “Everyone thinks I don’t block, and then on Friday I will learn to block!”
Brian: “…probably not.”

47:31 The fact Doki air grabbed Bison’s scissor kicks literally frames after they popped it is INSANE
It was 100% luck since she jumped first, but pretty cool nonetheless.
People looked into the replay, she's caught first frames of a jump instead

50:02 Eskay's pocket Chun went HAM. Safe jumps and combos like nobody's business, casual DIs and good neutral pressure, she plays so clean

The Lucio music for Eskay's match at 49:02 was a nice touch
Doki being like "if you win that means your true rank is plat" prophetic as hell lol
"Do I get this?" - Dokibird, moments before this is got
"Whyd he lose the neutral"
"Coz he guessed wrong"
