Here's how the Super Mario Bros. 3 soundtrack sounds on a Famiclone: th-cam.com/video/8cFGLlDUg0k/w-d-xo.html
do smb2 soundtrack
This sounds like an SMB3 remix of the SMB1 soundtrack.
If I'm not mistaken, SMB2 actually did use this 25% duty cycle for the SMB1 theme.
@@MrCheezethey did, but it sounds different somehow. How, I can’t tell.
@@owenwexler7214 the cropped certain parts of the original smb1 theme so they cook different
@@owenwexler7214the square waves have some fading and it uses different noise channel notes
Even as an American who grew up with the 50% duty cycle sound. I honestly prefer this version, especially the underwater and underground themes. It has a lot more personality and sounds more crisp. The Lost A Life theme sounds so fun and bouncy!
The underwater theme is my favorite, it's so cheerful! If you want to play it in your own NES, I made a ROM hack that swaps the duty cycles in the music: www.romhacking.net/hacks/7712/
@@chirinea Oh wow that's your hack! I love the way it sounds and I'm gonna do some full playthroughs just to enjoy the clone console experience :)
I kind of associate the 50% D.C. sound with early NES games (1985-1986) where they were used more and the 25% with mid-to-late NES games (1987-1994) where they were more in use..
The first part of the lose a life sound sounds like Super Mario Bros. 3 lose a life sound
DON'T TELL ME THAT "INTO THE TUBE" HAD A NAME IN FIRST PLACE WOWIE ZOWIE
kinda funny how much this sounds like mario 3
crazy how quickly i got used to it and was unable to tell its "wrong". genuinely thought it would sound odd but interesting the whole way through, not normal as if ive been listening to this version my whole life
Can we get some appreciation for how much longer and more complex the SMB overworld theme was than typical video game tunes of its day?
Koji Kondo composed it without knowing it was gonna be used for a Video game, Miyamoto literally just told him to compose a theme
The overworld theme is like a full version of the Dark World Theme from the Super Mario Bros 2 game for the NES.
I actually do like those famiclone versions,in fact i may like those versions even better then the original ones, probably because i heard those ones a million times before and they sounding so outdated to me,but these versions here just sounds much mewer to me,
It also sounds similar to the gameboycolor version of that game.
it feels familiar like I heard these versions before
I think Nintendo used these versions in other mario games at some point and remixed them a little
the underground theme sounds like the one from ‘Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga’
overworld was used as the subspace theme for smb2 iirc
someone said that the version of 1-1 here sounds similar to the version of 1-1 they used for the famicom disk writer kiosk, for the brief scene of mario and luigi running with the diskette. and gotta say, it does sound similar
If you want to understand why this sounds different from the original NES/Famicom sound, watch this next: th-cam.com/video/exGOdwwOpqk/w-d-xo.html
"How dare they get a better experience???" -Nintendo, 1985, probably
what a weird pfp
Nintendo could have just changed a few bytes in the code to get the same effect.
This sounds like it was made in the style of smb3
Btw I watched your video about this and I’m a subscriber
In the Super Mario bootleg cartridges there is a bug in the tracks Underwater and Castle Complete which makes both tracks sound very bad.
dang that sounds better then normal smb
Disagree
@@gmdrandom6287 You definitely tongue horses.
@@xehP Nope, I'm just normal
I am currently listening to this brilliant soundtrack while studying for final exams. This is INCREDIBLY useful. Thank you. ♥
I'll be honest I just much prefer this
Você não faz ideia do quanto eu busco rips dessa versão do jogo na internet. Desde que eu era criança.
Mas em 2007, 2008, era ainda mais difícil! kkkkkk
@@NintendoFanmi da um autografuh?
this sounds better than the original, thanks for uploading this
exactly as i remember it
I once had a pirated handheld. Every song sounded like the hurry version.
i have noticed this in a few romhacks i have played and wondered what the romhackers did to make it sound this way. i always preferred this sound over the original SMB.
I wonder if the NES/Famicom/Famiclone will struggle to play Hurry version of Invisibility theme
Great job! I always wanted a video explaining everything and a complete soundtrack list. I will put the link of this video under mine if you are okay with that :)
Of course I'm Ok with that! You can also link my video explaining it, I'd you want, the link is in the pinned comment.
The hurry version of invincibility theme is intense 6:56
this is what my famiclone sounded like
Nice! Banger!
Now upload SMB3 OST Famiclone style!
I guess being poor HAS its advantages
POV: you bought a bootleg CoolBoy console from the local mall
This sounds like mario bros 3 remixes
Yeah, I really like this version better I like the louder noise and I like that you can just hear more of the individual sounds. I think this definitely sounds better than the regular version.
Does this remind anyone else of that old Strange Mario Bros. hack?
excellent hack
??
Honestly I may have had a famiclone when I was a kid. But I never remember this. But living in a internet era, who knows?
You should’ve included the enter a name theme, and the end theme from vs smb
O baixão arregaçando!! Hahaha!! Da hora.
É o famoso baixo com flatulência. Lindo demais!
Opa, esse aqui não é flatulento não! O baixo do Nintendinho é de onda triangular, bem suave. O flatulento é o do Master, de onda quadrada com duty cycle de 6,25%, hahaha.
I'm getting deep Super Mario Bros 2 vibes from this
This is very familiar to me, in that I have played many Famicom clone consoles, and this is always how Nintendo tapes sound on them. At 38, NES was my first console, so I'm quite familiar with both original and 3rd party hardware. It seems SNES sound is always done well on these consoles, but never NES. Now I assume it's because it costs less, but out of curiosity, what exactly is causing this difference in sound with Famicom clones? Is it a particular chip or component on the motherboard?
It is due to how some clone CPUs are designed. I explain the reason in detail here: th-cam.com/video/exGOdwwOpqk/w-d-xo.html
Would it be a stretch to make a longer version of this?
Now do the Nesticle version next
Who knew that limited hardware could make something sound better than the original
I like this version better ngl
this is just normal to me
Bro offended Mario in 1,000 different languages 💀
Super Upin & Ipin Hack Of Smb1 P2p
Me when playing on my Classiq HD
better than the original tbh
I remember playing a Java port that sounded like this
Nescube? (nes emulator for java)
Do the Super Mario 2/NES soundtrack with Famiclone instruments
It is in my "to do" list!
Why the hell do I remember the oversold like this I'm American and I only played with Official things
Is it from the super Mario brothers super show because I feel like it's like that version
what it is is the lead synth has a chorus of one octave
No, it's just the duty cycle that is different. There wouldn't be space for another channel just to add another octave.
@@chirinea oh.
@@malcolmkoharian I explain the difference in a video I linked in the pinned comment
@@chirinea neat
So this version uses rectangle waves right?
Yes, a 25% duty cycle.
So if 25% duty cycle waves are rectangles...
What shape would 12.5% duty cycle waves be? I know 12.5% duty cycle waves sound similar to sawtooth waves.
@@Ernesto-Estrada_2950 well, 12.5% are rectangle waves too, just narrower. It's just simpler to call all of them pulse waves, because that's what they are, and then specify the duty cycle. For instance, the Master System can produce a "periodic noise" wave that's actually just a 6.25% pulse wave. The NES can produce pulse waves of 12.5, 25, 50 and 75% duty cycle.
12,5% duty cycles are forks 😂
Can someone deconstruct these songs?
You mean play each channel separately? Because what you hear in the video is the full mix, but to produce this osciloscope view I had to render a wav file for each channel separately.
Yep. I mean play each channel separately one by one
@@WaterPlayZ253 I can do that, do you want any song in particular?
really? Thank you so much I appreciate it! it can be any song, but if you are limited let it be the star theme and overworld theme. Thanks a lot again! I appreciate it! I watched your video on how it works.
btw, it can make for a really great video too
Is this the only mario game that has this kind of swapped soundtrack?
No, any game played on some Famiclones will sound different, I explain it here: th-cam.com/video/exGOdwwOpqk/w-d-xo.html
@@chirinea oh lol
@@chirinea I thought it was because of the console
@@chirinea will you be releasing any other Mario soundtracks like this one?
@@Super64Legendit is because of the console! If you play SMB3, for instance, the overworld map theme will sound darker because it will use the 50% duty cycle instead of the 25% one.
bootleg super mario bros for bootlegs chinese nes/famicom
Sounds like SMB3. lol
And here's how SMB3 sounds like on a Famiclone! th-cam.com/video/8cFGLlDUg0k/w-d-xo.html
