I'm from Malaysia. I grew up in the 90s (born in 1991). Growing up in Malaysia in the 90s, MJ was the SUPERSTAR. I don't remember family or friends talking about any artist as much as him. His iconic videos earth song, ghost, they don't care about us, you are not alone. They were the only videos I remember being played often. Everyone knew MJ even my grandmother who only watches Indian movies. She"d say in Tamil, " ahh MJ, he dances very well". When MJ came to Malaysia I remember my dad telling us. We happened to drive past the stadium, and he was like this is where he is going to perform. My cousin who was 16 years old couldn't afford the ticket. He waited outside during the concert just to enjoy from outside. That was MJ.
