Been to all of them over the years. Last trip to Italy was in 2019 for two months, focusing on lesser known parts of Italy. Though it was mainly small towns throughout Marches, Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily, I did get to a few cities and large towns, I'd definitely add Ascoli Piceno to the list, Piazza del Popolo is one of the most beautiful in Italy. Also very beautiful is Lecce in Puglia region. And in Sicily a hidden gem is Sciacca.

You missed Naples with nearby Caserta with it's royal palace used in Star Wars and one of the largest buildings in Europe.
Also regarding Palermo you should have mentioned Ragusa, a city of incredibly Baroque architecture.
Not to mention Spoleto, Lucca, Volterra, San Gemignano, Orvieto and so many others.
Florence alone has more art, architecture and antiquities than the whole of Spain.
You should also do a vacation in Italy video with amazing beaches of Sardinia and Sicily, the Dolomite mountsinss, the lakes and rolling countryside up and down the country.
Also hundreds of different types of bread, cheese, pastas and more.

I think central-north Italy has more interesting cities because of history of that part of Italy (medieval communes, signorias, etc.) while south Italy, since norman conquest of southern Italy, lived a different experience, with a single big state (than two, kingdom of sicily and kingdom of Neaples) mainly focused on Palermo and Neaples

So, Venice is overly touristic, but Florence and Rome are ok? Meanwhile, Siena and Verona are presented as quiet places, while they're among the most touristic cities in Italy (whereas in the same areas you can find respectively Lucca, Pistoia, Grosseto, Prato in Tuscany, and Vicenza, Padova and Treviso in Veneto where having a lesser touristic experience). Plus, you don't even mention cities like Naples, Arezzo, Rieti, Matera, Catanzaro...c'mon guys.

I think Florence and Rome is also touristy as Venice, so why not add Napoli? My personal favorite would be Pasitano or Sorrento because they both has the beauty, charm, traffic free, culture, romance and a great view which is what real Italy is known for.
