@@RifetOkic Getting close to 5 million as of now. That's really a huge success , can't really be called niche anymore. I am glad Yoko Taro choose Platinum when they were at their lowest and It really saved them from bankruptcy after they got fucked over by Microsoft with Scalebound.

This game is like Blade Runner 2049. The sequel that came out of nowhere, takes place decades later, the story focused on what it means to be human, in a unique and desolate world with actually new and really well developed characters. They didn’t get enough exposure in my opinion.
Was there a scene where they are in a hover car in the ocean and they aren't getting out of the hover car and floating in the ocean and one character chooses to die or something? for some reason; and the escalation of events ends up being for nothing, leaving you unsatisfied?

I just finished this game last night and even unlocked the E ending. I’m just shocked how good this game is. I’ve been hooked looking up lore and and other hiding meaning I might have missed.
I do think there could be a lot more to criticise about automata's combat. I have this theory that automata shot itself in the foot in terms of it's combat by including the disparate camera angles and one hit kill mode, as these things all either make it harder to tell when an attack is incoming, or punish you heavily for getting hit. So, the dodge move has to be able to work no matter the camera angle, whether the game is in decently close up 3D, sidescrolling 2D, or top down 2D where your character is significantly smaller. Combine that with the fact that any difficulty above normal has you dying in very few hits, they went with the obvious in order to make the game at all playable in 2D. That is to say, the dodge is incredibly powerful. It has constant invincibility frames, it can be popped in reaction to attacks coming from any direction, and there's no penalty to mistiming the dodge. Hell, you can mash that shit for several seconds before it stops working. On the first "boss", against the large ore crusher arm, if you're swept into a corner, you can just mash the dodge button and survive without taking a hit. They have, in effect, given you an easy way to instantly disengage from any melee encounter with zero risk and zero punishment if you miss the timing, and you have it from the start. And then they give you the chance to power it up. The difficulty, hence, has to rely on methods other than "can you dodge this attack" to challenge the player, and there's 2 main ways it goes about doing so, either with bullet hell elements or with enemies that take forever to kill and kill you incredibly quickly. The former is mostly fine in my opinion, as it offers a challenge in a way that isn't ruined by the existence of the dodge, but the latter leads to gameplay that I think is antithetical to good action game design. And that's primarily what my issue is with the combat, at least in the first playthrough. It relies more than it should on big, beefy enemies who hit really hard and die really slowly. I found myself just sitting back, using the missile pod, and dodging if the enemy got too close, as I didn't want to go through 5 minutes of tedium again. While the general enemies are acceptable enough due to their low time to kill, whenever the game introduced a strong enemy in the 3D gameplay I would just groan, due to this. The game, I believe, has shot itself in the foot with regards to it's difficulty and, hence, it's gameplay. I would not recommend it to fans of games like bayonetta, as it only shares in solid animations and hot protagonists.
NieR: Automata is my personal Game of the decade. I newer was so exited with the story being told. I even bought the PS3, original Nier and Drakengard 3 to explore the depth of the story and wasn't disappointed at all. This is the masterpiece and sadly there is no such a great games as the Automata. Glory to Mankind.
5:04 I actually disagree with the idea that the 20+ "joke" endings dont add much beyond replayability to the game as a whole. The fact that theyre there, and especially the fact that a number of them are the result of ignoring or going against orders from you superiors teaches you to question anything the game tells you. Where its pretty much ingrained in most of us that (for example) when a game tells you to go to a place for a mission, you go there to do your mission, just that little detail, the fact that defying those orders may lead to an ending, pushes you to think critically about what would be the obvious course of action in any other game.
This was the best game of 2017 Period. And 2017 was an amazing year. It bums me out because I have yet to enjoy a game as much as I died as Nier: Automata
I bought this on Steam, but I have a question before I can play it: are there any mods to fix the crappy "lose clothes with damage" issue? I really don't want to have to stare at the MC's ass for half the game and I refuse to play it until it's fixed. Maybe one to turn off the bullet hell crap on the second playthrough so I can just hack and slash stuff?
Tbh I didn't expect 2017 to be one of my favorite years in gaming but it did thanks to Nier:Automata (and maybe Persona 5 helped as well). Seriously one of my favorite games of all time, and when it comes to PS4 releases I haven't been this enthralled in a game since Bloodborne (which is also one of my favorite games).
I think every video game should learn a little bit from nier automata and do a 3D map like they did in their game. having this type of map allows you to see which level of the item is on our which level the location is for your next quest.
Thanks, it sounded weird when I said it, so I though I would make a little joke of it. In regards to Yooka Laylee, I think I'm gonna do a brief editorial on it after the current video I'm working on.
That works. The game is actually fairly good, which feels like a miracle coming from Kickstarter. Although it probably helped that I've never played Banjo Kazooie. It does have it's issues, but I think a fair number of the complaints come from people forgetting that it's a collectathon. It's made largely for completing, not beating. I won't deny things like camera and how the controls can seem off at times, but it's actually not half bad. And this was Playtonic's first game, regardless the crew involved. It's, at the very least, a well made practice title to see how the company works together. It felt like a breath of fresh air, something I didn't even realize I'd wanted in the first place when picking it up.
I think its interesting looking at how it was sold as a nostalgia game, and people criticizing it for being a send up. The game does exactly what it was marketing itself as, its the Banjo Kazooie game we never got.
Yes well that might be the problem. I think it caught a case of the Duke Nukems and was given a level of standard it couldn't really hope to meet. I mean, I haven't played Banjo Kazooie, and I've sampled other Rare titles, so it might have been better if Yooka Laylee marketed itself as more a generic tribute to platformers that happened to be very Banjo Kazooie like. Don't make Banjo Kazooie the main advertising comparison, but a relatively strong one. It's definitely a lot like Banjo Kazooie, but it's kind of a less polished clone that does a couple of things differently which is neat. I think it'll be an interesting title to analyze, especially the flight ability.
Found this channel found this video. My two cents it is a very interesting different from what I played so far game, I have not even ride any animals and I completed two play throughs. Music great, visuals very good (with occasional low res texture here and there), change of way to tell the story, change the mechanics and perspective. This all is great but…. I learned that it is good so save as often as possible which I did during my 3rd play through just to learn that game booted me back 2.5 back on dying. This was a rage quit. I do not know if I will find the strength to get back to it and finish it. And to be honest this game managed to get my attention I wanted to came back to it when doing the second play through. I know “get good”, but will I have the patience….
My only complaint was 9 S. Its not that i didn't like him as a character or the part he played in the story, i just didn't like playing as him. I loved playing as A2 2B so much i just didn't care much for his playstyle
i love NeiR Automata but my problem is that the PC controls are less than stellar they are not bad by any means they just feel incredibly awkward when the game is trying to teach them to you
Real time action RPG by Platinum Games for one. Combat is almost on par with Metal Gear Rising, in an open world RPG. Unique manner of controlling stats through plug in chips, playing off the narrative element of being androids. Tons of build variety. Soundtrack is an absolute masterpiece. Both in overall music and how it is actually used in the game. One of the most incredible narratives ever put into a game. Presented in ways that could only be done in a video game. Incredibly unique and creative execution of most every aspect of the game.
nice video and you actaully made me interested on trying out the game now (especially since its half princed now its a great chance) also please....never say "automatas" again XD "automata" is a plural already and "automato" (or automaton for a more archaic tone) is the singular....oh its also the ancient Greek word for basically "robot"
An ROG Asus laptop. The link below is pretty much the exact specs, though I payed about half that price. I got it more for editing, but its nice knowing it can handle more intense gaming than my last one. www.amazon.ca/Asus-GL502VM-DB74-15-6-Inch-GTX1060-i7-6700HQ/dp/B01KB0WKVK/ref=pd_sbs_147_18?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=5Q4HDFG7Z6HWPTSYT3DC
I do love this game ....but Act 2 I could have done without....the new revelations all could have been placed in Act 1 IMO but Act 1 and Act 3 were fantastic
It does make the game longer but the game has to show you that 2b is just a Yorha soldier who only follows orders and is completely blind to the truth, playthrough A is like most games are, just kill the bad guys and then with 9s, you begin questioning why you are killing the robots.
more like minority of people won't play it same as you, I finished the 1st through youtube walkthrough, so at last I feel like the game has some potential, especially when I heard platinum is working on nier automata but man the game is so boring, especially after I watched how bayonetta is played out and as for the main point, the story... just say if you watch enough movies and such, it is not that special, and even after my 10 hours-ish of playthrough, the story is still pretty confuse and boring as for the 1st big story plot, that machine is capable of having emotion... movie like land of the dead did it much better in much shorter time, plus the fact that im still murdering machine after i learn the fact that "machine isn't necessary bad" doesn't really help with immersion
I dunno about Nier Automata... Not the biggest fan of Platinum, I gotta say. Their games always felt floaty to me as opposed to DMC's glory days, when it felt like your hits were grounded and had impact. They might make it look cool, but they made cool shit easier to do. Mash square, and you'll do an awesome combo 100%. In DMC, though, YOU made your own coolness. And I could just watch a playtrough or read the wiki to get the story. Just my feelings, though. Also, screw A2. Yoko Taro is best girl.
Nier Automata's combat is definitely floatier than DMC's, but it still animates incredibly well, and the heavier weapons have a weightiness to them, while the smaller weapons are incredibly smooth. I will admit that there isn't a stinger or stinger equivalent though. Also, I would max out Yoko Taro's social link so fast! th-cam.com/video/hhDL3Q86ofY/w-d-xo.html
Foxcade I'd stinger straight into that boy Taro my dude But yeah, I saw the floatiness from the gameplay. Honestly, my bias probably comes from DmC's combat. Those air shoulder dash moves and dodges are too damn similar, PTSD intensifies. But seriously now... it's kinda tough to put what I mean into words, but I just feel DMC3 and 4's combat not having any especially flashy moves, with the player having to risk damage to pull off the flashy stuff, really nailed it. Especially with 3's crazy combos. Or whatever those combos where ya mash triangle are called. As for P5... Sadayo best waifu
I get what you mean. DMC's combo's just have the right weight to them, even with quicker weapons like Cerberus. In comparison, Automata, is smoother and faster depending on what weapons you have, and if its your heavy or light weapon slot. I would say try the demo on PS4, and give it a try to see if you like the combat style. P5 so far has no bad waifu's to me, though I'm leaning more towards Ann.... love the catsuit. Also, Sojiro is best pimp dad confirmed.
Foxcade I'm not even saying Automata's bad because of it, just that I'm not the biggest fan of such system. And I would if I wasn't a PS3 peasant, trust me. Though, PC's a possibility... How far ya into P5, if I may ask? And, I dunno about Ann. She's another Yukiko for me. I like her, but she ain't that special. The goth doctor girl, prime ribs I'm telling ya. And Sojiro gets even better if you've ever watched Lupin the 3rd. He's practicaly cosplaying as Daisuke.
Oh I understand, its all a matter of taste. That's why I specified that I preferred Bayo 2's combat, since it has a nice impact to it. And I figured you had a PS4 since you mentioned P5, forgetting there was a PS3 version. I'm about to start Madarame's dungeon, so not too far, but I already have a lot of ideas for different videos. I can see that, I simply love Ann's design. I will likely switch sides once I get to Futaba. Tae is pretty good too, still building the guts to continue her confidant link. OMG, that is dead on Daisuke's design, just colour swapped! Somehow that makes him even more pimp!
Totally bought this game about 6 months ago. Fun story? My piece of shit laptop can barely run it, even with that user mod that dials everything back. Loved what I did play, though
Wait...you do your gaming, and video editing, all on a single laptop??? As much as I enjoy your retrospective videos, I'm appalled you'd use such poorly optimized equipment for such high performance applications. The best laptop will never perform as well, or reliably, as the best desktop PC. My biggest problem with laptops is that the cooling sucks. You don't need liquid cooling, just more than adequate cooling, and laptops barely have adequate cooling at best.
Well, I don't do a lot of gaming on my laptop, but I do do editing on It, and my current one works perfectly fine for it. One day I will get a proper PC when I have the funds, but for now it works well. Plus I like editing at my night job when it's slow, which I couldn't do with a desktop PC.
Don't say that! Your gonna give me an inflated ego, and then I will lose my awkward, "I don't know how to talk into a mic" charm! In all serious, if you want to help me take down Pewdiepie, share this with your friends :)
I picked up this game, and couldn't put it down for a week. That being said, I was hugely put off by the fact that all the androids, built for military applications, are concerned with "looking pretty", or dating other androids. There's no reason for military androids to have emotions or even have a concept of "sex appeal". That's my only gripe, but it's a gargantuan flaw in my mind.
I get your point, but I think your confusing the narrative context with the prupose of the story. The theme of the game has a lot to do with what it means to be human, so it makes more sense from a writing and design stand point to make the androids have a more human like appearance and begin to develop human like emotions and desires so that the writers can better explore those themes. Plus the game would not be as marketable if it was all clunky looking androids compared to the very anime like androids that actually appeared in the game.
Of course, it absolutely wouldn't be marketable, and I understand why they did it that way, but the characters are paradoxical to the theme, like fueling a fire with water, it's just nonsensical. I'm not trying to say anyone who disagrees with me is wrong, I just haven't seen or heard anyone point out this particular flaw. The game is still a lot of fun...except for 9S, I hate playing as "him".
nier 1 had repetive gameplay? wtf dude? in nier almost every dungeon plays completely different. you have zelda like dungeons with puzzles and items, top down like diablo, a visual novel, a resident evil style horror mansion not to mention you can you get up to 30 weapons with different combos, strengths and weaknesses. also throw in a shitton of magic. so how can you say the gameplay is repetive? did you just use the beginning sword and never switched weapons?
Also Jesus, man. Spoilers. There's so much in here I would absolutely not wanted to have known before I started playing. This game loves and does on its surprise.
I think I avoided all of the important spoilers, especially since 95% of the video is only from route A, basically the first 1/3 of the story. A lot of the images used also only appear as spoilers if you have played the game and understand the context of what they mean.
Personally, I think the best way to experience this game is by switching the audio to Japanese. They all sound better fitted to their character, many jokes, wordplays and even important idea/information were lost as the game translated into English. The American 2B didn’t sound serious, she sounded annoyed by 9s’ pointless conversations and she is way too sassy. And 9s sounded a lot cuter in Japanese. After watching a couple of clips, I now remember how much I love Pascal’s Japanese voice. The English voice showed some good acting during emotional moments sure, but during the rest of the game, they just sound annoyingly American if that makes any sense to you. Or maybe I just don’t like Americans.
Yeah to be completely honest, I have no interest in playing Nier Automata as the story is basically locked behind what feels like the worlds longest prologue, that and I just don't like the story at all because the way it's being told via multiple endings on top of it not being interesting at all for me. Hell watching this video only cements the fact that this game just isn't for me, which I am okay with that as they're plenty of other games I got in my list I wanna eventually buy and play on my ps4, so knowing that it ain't gonna be the end of the world if I don't play Nier Automata.
There is no entertainment experience that will ever exist. which people need to play. careful with those titles! that said. this is another one i've heard about too much. and seen too much porn for....
Even you should be smart enough to classify his title accordingly and how it is meant. That said no one cares for what you have heard how much of and how much porn you have seen and how you obviously were affected from the evil porn, snowflake. You missed a demanding, emotional and unique experience and considering the try hard edgelord you are it is a good thing you didn´t play this game and being not able to defame it subsequently.
Have to say personally it's kind of overrated. It is just some people not very familiar with Japanese manga/anime/gal-game culture that gives people the "wow" reaction. There are few Japanese writers really like to write wired, twisted, dark, character focused narrative which is a style commonly seen in Japanese anime related medias. (The heavily character focused approach is clear in Nier.) This may be refreshing for people who likes it but it's not for all. In terms of gameplay, NieR Automata is ok but definitely not great compared to Bayonetta and other great works by Platinum.
NieR automata quickly became one of my top 5 games in existence, it literally is the masterpiece of this generation
I really love this game, and its probably definitely one of my current favorites for this generation. I wanted to go more into the story but wanted to avoid spoilers for those who haven't played it.

This video deserves more views, I love your DMC videos so much, but I've preordered this game for my switch and spoiler free videos that show off a game like this are really rare
Omg best games of the generation!
I just finished this game last night and even unlocked the E ending. I’m just shocked how good this game is. I’ve been hooked looking up lore and and other hiding meaning I might have missed.
i really felt that english voice acting was superb, and hell i hate english dubs
9S’s character did such a great job, from a gentle, innocent young android to a total maniac. Great performance!
I was debating my self to buy this game for a while now. I'm going to give it a chance when I don't have heaps of work to do. Thanks!
1:50 two years later more than 4 millions sold
If i could forget one thing its about playing Nier Automata so i can replay it to experience it again
NieR:Automata is my 2017 GOTY, totally
This game is still amazing 6 years later.
nier automata is one of my favorites
I bought this on Steam, but I have a question before I can play it: are there any mods to fix the crappy "lose clothes with damage" issue? I really don't want to have to stare at the MC's ass for half the game and I refuse to play it until it's fixed.
Maybe one to turn off the bullet hell crap on the second playthrough so I can just hack and slash stuff?
There's apparently an in-game fix for this. Or so I've been told.
12:56 OMG, I love the pod head pet
If your on ps4, rub the grey rectangle in the middle of the controller.
Those are also my favorite games of the generation by far
What was the OST used at the beginning of 0:39? Having trouble finding it on NieR Automata OST playlists.
its gestalt that's why lol
song of the ancients: Devola
a bit late but its is from nier not from nier automata
Is it odd i have it on the switch xbox and ps4
I think every video game should learn a little bit from nier automata and do a 3D map like they did in their game. having this type of map allows you to see which level of the item is on our which level the location is for your next quest.
I'm curious to see your thoughts on Yooka Laylee. I found it interesting and genuinely fun, despite a few issues.
Also the plural of crisis is crises.
cry-sees.
As an avid sub > dub kinda guy, this games eng dub is fucking incredible, especially 9s’s actor
Japanese dub is amazing too. They ruined 2b in English dub tho. She's a complete different person.
I know “get good”, but will I have the patience….
i love nier automata and i thought it was amazing
My only complaint was 9 S.
Its not that i didn't like him as a character or the part he played in the story, i just didn't like playing as him. I loved playing as A2 2B so much i just didn't care much for his playstyle
I tried this one and hated the topdown shooting section so bad...I couldn't bother to finish the intro level.
You are genuinely missing out considering how little of that there is compared to everything else in the game.
just put it on easy and auto chips on and fly through that part
"Oh crap the Zelda fans found me."
You can't run from us, deku nuts!
i love NeiR Automata but my problem is that the PC controls are less than stellar they are not bad by any means they just feel incredibly awkward when the game is trying to teach them to you
I noticed that also, and almost immediately pluged in a PS4 controler ;)
"Games that make you feel empty inside"....
Ever heard of LISA: The Painful?
I’m just waiting for a sale then I’ll get it
Simply the GOAT
Bought Nier automata and started playing it, but I couldn't finish it because i bought it on psn ,but my psn account got banned.
Can someone tell me a actual reason to play this ?
Real time action RPG by Platinum Games for one. Combat is almost on par with Metal Gear Rising, in an open world RPG.
Unique manner of controlling stats through plug in chips, playing off the narrative element of being androids. Tons of build variety.
Soundtrack is an absolute masterpiece. Both in overall music and how it is actually used in the game.
One of the most incredible narratives ever put into a game. Presented in ways that could only be done in a video game.
Incredibly unique and creative execution of most every aspect of the game.
Okay but it is it fun
@@jakeballou5147 Its a hack and slash made by Platinum. If you like that kind of game, absolutely.
If you are on console there is a demo for it.
nice video and you actaully made me interested on trying out the game now (especially since its half princed now its a great chance) also please....never say "automatas" again XD "automata" is a plural already and "automato" (or automaton for a more archaic tone) is the singular....oh its also the ancient Greek word for basically "robot"
What PC did you get?
An ROG Asus laptop. The link below is pretty much the exact specs, though I payed about half that price. I got it more for editing, but its nice knowing it can handle more intense gaming than my last one.

Nice choice bud
Great video
Maybe I should buy it. I mean look at that hot piece of 2B a-
Ah, I mean stunning gameplay. Yes, that's what I meant.
"... while the machines are having their own existential crisises ... crisisi?"
Crises. Cry-sees. Yay I helped.
“Cry seas”
Yeah BOTW won game of the year 2017. Really disappointed tbh.
The plural of crisis is crises and A2 is bae.
Y'all should play Ori and the Blind Forest. Sooooo goooood.
I do love this game ....but Act 2 I could have done without....the new revelations all could have been placed in Act 1 IMO
but Act 1 and Act 3 were fantastic
Agreed. Extending 2b's part and mostly getting rid of the bulletstorm would've been ideal, in my opinion
It does make the game longer but the game has to show you that 2b is just a Yorha soldier who only follows orders and is completely blind to the truth, playthrough A is like most games are, just kill the bad guys and then with 9s, you begin questioning why you are killing the robots.
more like minority of people won't play it
same as you, I finished the 1st through youtube walkthrough, so at last I feel like the game has some potential, especially when I heard platinum is working on nier automata
but man the game is so boring, especially after I watched how bayonetta is played out
and as for the main point, the story... just say if you watch enough movies and such, it is not that special, and even after my 10 hours-ish of playthrough, the story is still pretty confuse and boring
as for the 1st big story plot, that machine is capable of having emotion... movie like land of the dead did it much better in much shorter time, plus the fact that im still murdering machine after i learn the fact that "machine isn't necessary bad" doesn't really help with immersion
Brilliant game. Truly brilliant!
yeah superbestfriends lets play!
Plural of crisis: crises (pronounced cry-sees).
Foxcade I'd stinger straight into that boy Taro my dude
But yeah, I saw the floatiness from the gameplay.
Loved what I did play, though
because its the most amazing game ever ?
I'm relieved to _hear_ you say that.
That's dedication
"I love your videos but you're making them wrong"
Why does pewdipie have more subs then you? or anyone, really good stuff
Don't say that! Your gonna give me an inflated ego, and then I will lose my awkward, "I don't know how to talk into a mic" charm!
In all serious, if you want to help me take down Pewdiepie, share this with your friends :)
Okay -Ness
*crises
The game is still a lot of fun...except for 9S, I hate playing as "him".
nier 1 had repetive gameplay? wtf dude? in nier almost every dungeon plays completely different. you have zelda like dungeons with puzzles and items, top down like diablo, a visual novel, a resident evil style horror mansion
not to mention you can you get up to 30 weapons with different combos, strengths and weaknesses. also throw in a shitton of magic. so how can you say the gameplay is repetive? did you just use the beginning sword and never switched weapons?
Also Jesus, man. Spoilers.
There's so much in here I would absolutely not wanted to have known before I started playing.
This game loves and does on its surprise.
I think I avoided all of the important spoilers, especially since 95% of the video is only from route A, basically the first 1/3 of the story. A lot of the images used also only appear as spoilers if you have played the game and understand the context of what they mean.
*I played NieR: Automata. I despised it. I gave it a 2/10.*
i subd :)
Second
I HATED this robot weebs game.
To bad, since I totally adored the first NieR...
