I’m coming up on my first full year of electrical work and I’ve used the d228-8s for the past 6 months. They might not be rated to cut hardened material but I’ve used them to cut through screws and tie wire and they’re still working well

Same here. Mine eat what I feed them (any & everything) and have yet to complain.
One thing you fail to do is cut wires thick enough until one fails to do the job. I guess you love your pliers and do not want to damage any one of them.
How? Anything better than he should be switching tools

Hello and thank you for a very, very, comprehensive review on particularly these two models vs each other. Very few you tubers ( no offence towards them) do a very virtual unbiased real reviews like you do, it was simple without any sophisticated special measuring tools bla bla.... It was done purely by human hand and actual working materials that these cutters are designed for. And you are so right about each of them. Thanks.

Ya it’s kinda of the opposite here. You see a lot of Klein Tools here. Pretty much the go to company for the trades. My service bag is full of Klein stuff!

Knipex is louder cutting because it is not as sharp as the Klein.
It’s the tempering not sharpness
I love Knipex and Klein tools. In this case I will go to the Made in the Great USA KLEIN Tools!
They are both a great cutter for sure

I just found your channel and subscribed. First thank you for the comparison. Question for you. How are these pliers cutting cotter keys. Will they hold up. The screws you cut. I was impressed with the clean edge after cutting. That help keep injuries down. Last question, how is the warranty process? Again thank you 😊
ø is the symbol for diameter, so 2,5mm (2.5mm in US) is the largest diameter of piano wire it is rated to cut.

Not sure why the sound of the cut matters. But I have a couple pairs of the d228-8 Klein’s and I find that a snap-on pair I have, has a smaller “head” and is easier to fit in confined spaces. Also if I blow a hole in my snap-on’s, I can get a new pair under warranty.
You’re telling me snap on warranties pliers if you cut a live wire and blow a hole in them? I find that hard to believe
The snap-on guy on the truck I sometimes go to said he would, might depend on the truck but full warranty is fully guaranteed
I want to let you know that the small mysterious symbol before 2.5 mm means "diameter". Congratulations for your tool videos
Everyone saying one is better than the other and then saying you been electrician for X amount of time to validate have to stop. It’s all the same shit and both brands are top teir to the point you’re trying to split hairs. Use what you like to use. Every sections has a 20 year electrician that says he used them all and Klein is the best. But then another dude same story says knipex is the best by miles. It’s metal. It’s a tool. They cut.
Will either of these cut chain-link fence?
You’d might want to look into a pair of linesman pliers for that or a pair of diagonal cutters that has 9-10 inch handles so you can get more leverage

Could you cut thick antenna coaxial cables with your dykes? Or should I buy special cable cutter for that?
Unless I was cutting piano wire or stainless, the Kleins are very, very good. Made in USA. Priced right. Just get a model that has handles that are plenty long. A 6" tool requires a lot more effort than an 8" or 10".

Our Menards has knipex but no Klein. They have southwire, which cost 1/2 as much as knipex and perform great.
Southwire is junk

Forget either brand for side cutters (dykes). Grab one from Irwin tools instead. Incredible quality for cheap.
