Drop into the river at Tilford just below the weir, Walk out from Guilford along the pilgrims way then drop down to Tilford camp out for the night at the campsite opposite to the track that leads to Stockbridge pond and cruise down the river following day.
Oh man, I’ve always wanted to just hit the rivers, canals, and trails with a pack raft and a good pair of hiking boots. Looking forward to seeing the review of the pack raft and more of these adventures!
Thanks Stevie, great video again and the kit certainly stood up to the test. Perfect for that type adventure, look forward to the kit review. BTW, brave man for trying new kit on fast flowing water. Done similar in our solid kayaks but not on an inflatable, hats off to you. 👍🏻
Hi, just wondering if you have maybe any plan's, and or thought's, of trying out the itiwit 500 pack raft, in any future videos you make, might be interesting comparing them, the 100 and the 500, or, maybe trying out against different makes of packraft. Very much enjoy your videos, your research and informative info, on the area’s travelling to/from, your camping, and your amusing patter, look forward to more,🍻.( and any in 🏴,if your doing them🥃).
Just did Burpham to St Catherine’s and back yesterday, a great bit of river. I did float from the wear to Burpham on a tractor inactive as a 10year old, mum dropped us in town then picked us up from the the lack at Burpham. In those day we had to walk to a phone box to let her know we were there 😂 If you are doing the Wey again for please and you fancy some company, let me know and I will bring some camera gear to.
I live in the same town as yourself, I am really grateful for all these local routes that you are showing us. Goes to show you don't have to travel miles to have a good paddle. Hope to see you on the river soon.
Hi Stevie thanks for sharing the video, I really enjoyed it. That was a cracking paddle trip down the river you did! There was plenty flow in the river for sure. Fellow PR100 owner here, it’s a fun wee raft isn’t it? Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures!
Thanks, this was my first time on that stretch of river and my first time in a PR100. I was so impressed! I've got more videos planned with it including some in the Lake District I'm really looking forward to
Very informative and helpful Stevie. I guess you could say I like to be prepared. My very first new kayak has still to be dispatched and here I am checking out what to do in emergency situations 😂. Thank you. Best wishes and I look forward to seeing more of your channel 🏴
Great video, was looking forward to this one as I’m thinking of picking up one of these pack rafts, you didn’t really talk much about the pack raft itself but I’ve seen from the comments that you are doing a separate review video, so I’ll be looking forward to that. Good effort for getting out in January!
Thanks, yes I'm putting the review together at the moment. If you have any questions or want me to look at anything specific let me know. January paddling went better than I was expecting, might try and get out some more at this time of year 🙂
Thank you Stevie, your videos are always very healing and rewarding every time I watch them! Finally a Packraft review video, thank you so much! It's fun every time I go on a tour with you via video~What's your idea of the traction in this Packraft without the tail fin? Does it tend to spin around?
Thanks so much. Without the fin it's actually fine because it's so short. It handles more like a whitewater kayak than a touring kayak. It does spin around really fast and takes a bit of work to keep straight, but the responsive turning can actually be an advantage. Ther are some rivers I'd prefer to do in a kayak, and some I'd prefer to do in the packraft. And there are some places I could only get to with a packraft
Amazing video thank you! It’s so important that realistic advice is available for beginners and this is the perfect beginner challenge. I just need to buy my packraft now!
Thank you for the video, Stevie. There is so little quality content when the season's down. River Wey is indeed a beautiful place to kayak, I paddled the upper parts several times last year. Hey, let's do a trip there in our Strenfits when it's warmer again! 😁 Happy New Year and all the best to you, 👍 Tom
Happy New Year Tom! Thanks, didn't expect to be doing anything in January but I saw a break in the weather and went for it. It was really nice seeing the river at this time of year. Yes, def up for a paddle soon now I'm back in action! 💪🛶
This is right near where I work (or at least where I would work if not for WFH)! Lovely bit of river along there, Millmead Lock is a very popular spot. I love seeing videos around this local area, it’s spurring me on to get my own kayak and get out there!
Nice video mate, I bought the same packraft today and am so excited to test it tomorrow. I'm used to kayaking so I know the speed and handling will disappoint a bit, but with 2 Kilograms and much more freedom with logistic issues, this is going to be great fun. Cheers Eckie
Thanks, and enjoy! I think this is a great tool to have alongside my other kayaks, will be doing some trips in the lake district with it. Some of those harder to reach lakes and tarns
Cracking video and what a great little adventure. Thank you for sharing these hidden gems on our doorstep. Last year I paddled the Woking Palace backwater behind a family of swans and the male was waiting in ambush round every corner. They are quite intimidating when they want to be so I'm cautious like you. Love the packraft option but looking at the price it might need to wait a while. Cheers
I really enjoyed this, and was considering buying this..... until I saw it is 400 quid. I haven't got that to splash. 😕 I actually bicycle hammock camped on the bank of that offshoot near Shalford last July. I thought Id picked a really quiet spot that nobody would find. But dog walkers came at 9.00 pm, then more at 7.00 am. They gave me some real unhappy stares. Oh well. I couldn't leave quick enough. Shame as its a really pretty spot there, as you now know 👍
@@StevieWyatt It was actually quiet there along that offshoot all late afternoon and evening, except for the dog walkers last thing at night and first thing in the morning. I won't go back wild camping there 😂
Happy new year - can't wait to see what 2023 has in store for your channel. The Itiwit packraft looks like a nice bit of kit, will you be doing a detailed review?
hello Stevie, thanks for your video! I love your reviews. I'd like to take a packraft but also make it more stable for sea environment. As I see it the biggest trouble in sea is the lack of fins. What do you think about adding fins to the packraft? Do you have any suggestions on how, or products?
I am a bit skeptical about using packrafts in the sea for a few reasons. Firstly the fins would only really help with tracking straight rather than stability, but it's such a short boat I don't think fins would actually make that much of a difference. As for stability, being a wide flat bottomed boat makes it great for rivers and lakes, but once you get waves a couple of feet high or above, flat bottomed craft can capsize easily (which is why sea kayaks have rounded hulls). Packrafts are also more vulnerable to wind and currents than other types of boat, again this usually fine for sheltered waters such as rivers and lakes but it open water would be a real challenge. A one man inflatable kayak would be better for a mix of river and sea use. It would be a bit heavier to carry, but safer on the coast.
How do you make it look so easy getting in and out ? what would you do if the raft drifted away before you got a hold of it from the bank? great vid as always Stevie.
What are your thoughts on the rucksack wearing it all day? I am probably going to buy one or 2 for use on my kayak but will also need to wear them as backpacks occasionally.
I love it, I do exactly the same - mainly for use on my X500 Kayak but it's also become my day hiking backpack and camera bag because it's tough and watertight. You know what it's like in the UK, it's always wet and damp whenever you go in the outdoors! I might do a review of the bag actually now you mention it.
@@StevieWyatt Thanks for the quick reply, sounds like the right one for me then. A review would be great to see. And an easier one than usual for you to film!
Thanks Rich. It's very different to paddling a kayak, very rudimentary and lots of corrections, but it turns super easy so you get the hang of it pretty quickly. It's fun! Got a pretty in depth review video on the way, plus talking about packrafting in general compared to other types of paddling
Not sponsored, no contract or anything like that. They loan me items to review and I give them back. I've always used Decathlon stuff so they got in touch after my X500 review and asked if I wanted to review some more kit
Yay ! 2023 videos rolling ;) Nice test of this packraft

Interesting video, looking forward to the review. I think the swans were expecting to be fed. Lol
Enjoyed that. I did a bit of the Wey last year on your recommendation and recognised quite a bit of it. Nice! Must go back this year and do more.

Hi Stevie. Great videos. Is the raft really that tough? You hit branches and launch without worrying? They look a lot more vulnerable to punctures?
Umarım buna cevap bulabiliriz. Bende çok merak ediyorum.
Is it possible to make the fin on it?
Are you sponsored/asociated by Decathlon/ITIWT? Sure you said this was 'sent' to you.

Whats the durability like of the material ?
Does it feel like its gonna pop from a tiny spike ?
Feels really tough, I didn't have any concerns about puncturing or anything. The floor is double skinned and really strong
How would you compare it against Kokopelli Rogue Lite? which cost $900
